Discussion on the current Pokemon Dub

Maybe it's it possible that everyone complaining is just reeking in nostalgia. Did you think that the dub isn't any better now and you just want the old voices back? Plus why does it matter anyway? They don't even have old characters in anyway now besides Ash, TRio, and then for like or two episodes per series Delia and Oak. All the other characters are new. So just deal with ash and TRio and it's fine.

There was a reason...their contracts. If you forced the current ones out, that would be for no reason.

-We've already proven that entire statement wrong with two basic statements: (a) we prefer the Origins TPCi voices to the Anime TPCi voices, and they debuted later, and (b) with the fact Bill Rogers makes Brock sound like an old man rather than a teenager, and the fact that Sarah Natochenny smokes, thus impacting her vocal chords and making her unable to voice a young boy like Ash. These are objective truths.

-The dub is suffering from multiple issues in our opinion, Yuoke. These range from the poor script writing for Ash and Team Rocket with various forms of slang, rhyme, as well as alliteration (all of which were not used in the previous dub to even close to this degree, if at all) to the horrid music replacement score Ed Goldfarb has plagued the dub with, to TPCi replacing more of the Japanese music than 4Kids ever did for the last 3 seasons in a row, and the shortened length of the intros.

- It matters because Ash and TRio do not sound age appropriate in our eyes, and additional, their actors seem to be very poor at emoting or expressing viable emotion in comparison to their predecessors: the same can be said of Oak and Delia as well. Also, the other older characters may cameo as well, so there's that.

- Untrue on the contracts: what happened is they were told by TPCi reps they would be replaced and weren't needed anymore, as they had already found replacements (the current cast/crew) for them. They only approached James Cathcart and Kayzie Rogers at the time for whatever reason. Finally, there is very valid reason to want the current cast to be removed from production: their less than professional behavior towards fans is one such reason."

We're not complaining. Press page number 1 and read everything a million times until you understand the purpose of this thread.
We might reek of nostalgia or not. You definitely reek of intolerance towards different opinions.

Some people see praise towards the older things as "nostalgia". Have you possibly thought that there might be things that were done better rather than just attributing it to "nostalgia" to get away from making a proper argument?

It's called a friendly gesture, it's something most people would do to their fans, especially since she knows since basically a waste of time. 75% of the viewerbase wasnt even born when the switch happened, and too young to care (Im sorry, but they really dont). A big part of the rest are us guys, where most keep up with the japanese version because waiting sucks. Then, of the people who are only dub watchers, there's some people who flat-out dont care.

Why should TPCi really care about a group who is most likely smaller than 1%?

Explain the point then, and quit the attitude, it's a pokemon forum, nobody thinks you're a badass for being mean.

The point of this thread is so fractured you would think it was run by two people and a bunch of alts..... oh.

Explain the point then, and stop with the insults, it's a pokemon forum, nobody thinks you're a badass for being mean.

- Don't put words in her mouth or ours, please, that we nor herself ever said. It's called Veronica willing to reprise her role, it's something she would like to see happen if she gets the chance, especially since she knows the way her and the others were mistreated.

- Oh, this boy would beg to disagree with you, my friend (I'm sorry, but they do): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNT6Tx7yuLo.

- We ourselves have been watching the Japanese Version with English subtitles for that reason, and of course, some don't care- there are those, however, who do.

-Why should TPCi not care about a group that has amassed 7,000 plus likes on their page already and is just now starting to become more active again in light of recent events and hopes with the actors becoming more and more willing to return lately if given the opportunity, is the better question?

I can assure you that there are no alts in this thread- feel free to check, by the way, you'll end up looking worse than you already are in this thread. You haven't been very nice to Hilda or myself, either

It's funny because you think you're on to something but you're not. Good job on learning how to push the caps lock button by the way.

The point is to discuss what has happened and is happening in the behind the scenes of the dub and how it is negatively affecting the show. It's not complaining as that other person put it. It's not really hard to see that people are not going "wahhh the newww dubs suck, wahh".

This is because (a) millions of people don't always watch the Pokemon Anime, (b) hate it altogether, (c) are unaware of what went down despite preferring the previous voice actors and/or cast, and (d) ignorance in general.

I'm not part of those 7k people, but bashing due to the number of people is stupid. Even if you know a thousand, ask someone who knows one. The actions of those 7k can positively affect everything for the millions.

I thought we were over this.

3. This forum is for discussion of the Pokémon anime only. Do not discuss the video games, manga, other anime, or any general topic having to do with the franchise as a whole. Keep it specific to the anime. This includes shipping (potentially romantic relationships), which has its own forum, the Shippers Community. The posting/advertising/discussing of fan-created material (fanart, fanfic, AMVs, fandubs/fansubs, parodies etc.) does NOT belong here either; neither do petitions and similar campaigns.

9. When posting new information (such as new titles), remember to cite your sources! If you have no source to back up your information, how are we supposed to confirm it as factual? A thread announcing a new title without including a source will be locked instantly. Simple links to reliable websites or pictures will do. Remember, Wikipedia and fellow Wiki sites are not reliable sources!

This thread violates two rules:

1) Don't post rumors. There is no factual evidence whatsoever for your claims. "Allowed" voice actors to come here? Last time I checked, anyone capable of using the internet can register and post here. This is the biggest international Pokémon forum, so it makes sense that any VAs who heard about controversies and wanted to offer their viewpoint do so on a big platform.

I can't speak for Bulba, but the shutdown of threads concerning the dub in the past have nothing to do with bias towards one dub company or the other, but with a high tendency of flamebaiting, flaming, the rampant spreading of rumors (on SOVA's side, mind you) and general crappy handling on the opening poster's part.

The reason why hate towards TPCi has decreased (it's not gone by any means) might be because it's been ten years and people have moved on. Also, the availability of raw and sub files has increased. I think most Anime Spoilers residents (which make up a big part of PAD as a whole), for instance, watch the Japanese version and therefore don't give a frick about any dub - neither 4Kids' nor TPCi's.

Secondly, 2) Don't post petitions or any other campaigns with similar goals. This is a discussion forum, not some recruitment center.

Closing.
