That was a special set of toys where Metamon transformed into Pokemon incorrectly. It was likely inspired by this episode, but it's not a regular thing that's seen in all Metamon merchandise.

I love this episode so much and it's one of my favorite fillers of all time. Duplica's Ditto is precious (I love my pepto bismol) and how dare Team Rocket for insulting it.
My favorite parts:
