Well what I was worried about was if those who didn't pay for DLC were missing out and because of that I personally don't see any point literally distributing exactly the same Pokémon on Mystery Gift because those who pay have an advantage of getting another Mythical that's basically the same. Because of that the Pokémon Company might as well only distribute special (shiny, exclusive moves, HA) Mythical Pokémon online for free. It's up to everyone if they pay or not.

You will be playing for the story and other additions that would come with the DLC if you pay. You won't be paying for the Event Pokemon

Of course. I don't mind too much as long these DLC aren't limited time. I wouldn't mind limited time discounts though.

One of the reasons why I don't really see GF doing DLC is for the definitive editions of their games.
But of course, this is Switch now. The approach could be different.

I really don't like the idea of DLC, because it's usually overpriced and thus feels like cheap cash-grabbing. There's also that risk of content being deliberately taken out just so it can be sold later on, even though that content could and should have been included with the main game. But... if they have to add DLC, things I'd like to see would be:
  • Costume sets for my character to wear.
  • Character- or Pokémon-themed window skins or menu backgrounds.
  • A specialised area for grinding levels or breeding Pokémon very efficiently.
  • Side-quests that expand on lore elements or rare/mythical Pokémon with some cool rewards (rare items or something, or easier access to special move tutors). Something along the lines of Zinnia's story in the gen3 remakes would be cool.

Here are a couple of ideas I've come up with for what the good DLC could be:
  • Locations - New smaller areas where different Pokemon can be found. Ones that weren't found in the base game or regional Pokedex.
  • Story Content - New pieces of story content that would extend the longevity of the game. Similar to Delta Episode (ORAS) and Rainbow Rocket (USUM).
  • Clothing - New pieces of clothing that could be based off the fashion from the past regions. Examples being something tropical outfit from Alola, a fashionable outfit from Kalos, and Japanese style outfits from Kanto/Johto.
  • Classic Outfits - In addition they could have outfits based off the old protagonists as a way to celebrate the history of the game. If not the whole outfit then maybe just their hats. Similar to the DLC outfits they made in Breath of the Wild as a homage to older games.

This is what im all for aswell. I honestly can't see gamefreak being about the microtransaction idea. I mean DLC is cool for bonus content, extra content to expand the game and so forth. Although i feel they shouldnt rely on it, they should focus on the core game selling itself and maybe few months later they expand it with DLC. Either way i think alot more is possible for the switch

The backlash didn't affect USUM's sales. USUM has outsold Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum and it may even surpass BW2.

Still was a stupid move for them go back to the 3rd game format

It has proven to be quite profitable for GameFreak so I bet that they will continue making third versions.
Doesn't mean it is smart. Nobody wants to play the same game a year later. Sales shouldn't matter. It is just lazy

I honestly found myself perfectly okay with playing the "same game" a year later. Guess I'm just a weirdo. :p
I think the real issue is the fact it was almost a decade since they did that and everyone thought or at least hoped that concept was dead. In an era of DLC it just seems odd but maybe it is a japanese thing.

This. Third versions are an archaic concept when DLC is a thing. For the earlier generations it may have been okay to have third versions when that was the only way to expand on the content for a new region but the 3DS and Switch are perfectly capable of DLC so a game like USUM feels like a ripoff when in this day and age we would get that kind of content for $10-$20 in a DLC pack instead of a full $40 game.

Considering that the new Switch release are more like Pokémon GO, I guess the DLC will be microtransactions, like extra Egg Incubators, certain types of extra Poké Balls and the increase of the Pokémon and Bag limit.

If the dlc was outfits from the anime I'm down.

Pikachu in Ash's clothes and Eevee in Gary's clothes... That could be released as an easy reference to Pokémon Yellow, which was anime-based.

Because 2019 game is going to release around Novemberish, that means they are going to have only Winter(January onward) and early Spring(March, April, early May). After that is the pre-release period(though Gen 8 Mythical will likely appear early April 2019) If they are going to announce DLC support for these games(which I doubt, I suspect DLC will start after Gen 8) they will need to start from day one.

It's very unlikely, but I reckon the Orange Islands would be a fun DLC. Not the Sevii Islands, but proper Orange Islands, maybe based on Okinawa...

Free dlc wise, the rest of the pokemon (152-807) paid dlc wise, wouldn't mind other regions.

I would like it if they handled it like they did breathe of the wild and give up packs throughout the year with significant story content maybe some extras like costumes rare berries and stuff.

So in the 2019 games I'm thinking that DlC would be a great way to reintroduce roaming legendaries, and ultra beasts. They could also add in new battle facilities or tournaments with past characters. DLC would be a great way to keep players interested in the games with post game material. If there's a safari zone they could dlc in safari zone packs

In LGPE they could DLC in the Sevi Islands
