Do Japanese CDs and DVDs work on American CD players and DVD players?

Sorry if someone asked this already, but do they work? I was wanting to import some CDs from Japan and some of them have a DVD bonus thing. XD So that's why I'm asking if both of them work.

Depends what region they are encoded in, as far as DVD's. I recently ordered a Miyavi dvd from Japan and that worked fine because it was multi regional.

As for cd's, as far as I know the only time a cd might not work is if it's a CD-R and you have an old cd player.

It should be in the product description on the site you're buying from. If it's not, you're taking a risk. Some dvd players can play any region, though.
