Do the creators know which pokes will be caught from the beginning?

Do you think before a new series starts they already have it planned what pokemon the main characters will get throughout the season? I realize they certainly do to an extent with the starters and all, but what about later in the series?

I believe that they must have the basic outline of the whole saga planned from start to finish (captures, evolutions, plotlines), but then make adjustments as the show goes along.. So, say they had planned to give Trubbish a single appearance, but then discovered that it had became an extremely popular and marketable Pokemon, then they could decide to switch things up a bit to whore it out..

Yeah, they plot the majority of the saga I believe.

Although im sure there is points they change if it is needed.

I believe that in Japan they take polls to see which way the anime will go. Hence pikachu not evolving in season one and never evolving because its too popular.

This is probably what happened with Gible in DP.

Originally the writers probably planend for Ash to keep the same 6 pokemon throughout DP. Then they realized that next saga they were going to bring in Iris who specialized in dragon pokemon, so they had Ash capture a Gible at the tail-end of DP.

There is no doubt in my mind Ash's Gible will eventually be brought back, most likely so Iris can see it.

Don't the writers get first looks at new Pokemon that are made? Then they make a list of who is supposed to get what, when and how. Then later on down the road they figure out who will evolve or not.
