Nope: actually, I've pretty much given up on it for the most part (though I may check out the first 5-10 eps of XY and if I like what I see, XY will definitely be my final series, otherwise BW is the end of the road for me). I predict for the duration of its run, it will remain the same old repetitive shtick that just seems to get worse in plot, emotion, and character nearly every series. Honestly, if it goes down the path it is going now in terms of merchandising, and continues to care less about the fans, the Pokemon Anime's fate will ultimately be a sad one.
Personally, I've dealt with a lot of pointless (and some even detrimental) changes when it comes to the anime since its debut. I dealt with Misty being retired for no apparent reason other than more "eyecandy" as Matsamitsu Hidaka put it, the mediocre and lifeless, current voice cast replacing the former superb, enthusiastic voice cast in the dub (though I guess at this point the same can be said of the company change from how I've seen both companies handled the dub during each of their 8 seasons at this point: yes, for once 4Kids did a better job with a dub than someone else, IMO), I dealt with various other characters being retired excluding Ash and Team Rocket, like May, Max, Dawn, Brock, and now it's getting to be Iris and Cilan's curtain call in just a few episodes, but the saddest thing as a fan for me is that someone a lot of people grew up with and kind of put in our place as kids is now cursed to never realize his goal due to merchandising, Team Rocket will stay idiotic stooges for the remainder of their time on the anime from the looks of the things, and the whole show has pretty much lost any remote sense of a plot that it once had (even if that plot wasn't all that complex or great in the first place, there was something there at the least).
At this point, it's my opinion that the only real purpose(s) of the newer Pokemon anime series are to (1) advertise the games, (2) attempt to entertain people, and (3) repeat and rehash in an attempt to get as much profit from the series and its characters as possible. The Pokemon anime was never all that great, even in its older seasons and when it debuted, but some actual progress was being made, the characters were actually relatable, funny, as well as identifiable, and the overall show was just so much more entertaining in terms of comedy, emotional moments, and serious moments. That's how I feel about it, anyway. My point in all of this being that ultimately the anime just doesn't have any redeeming qualities these days that make me want to watch it nearly as much as it used to.
