I thought they handled Max well in Hoenn. He was given more spotlight than Brock back then and had a number of nice moments to boot.

It wasn't until Battle Frontier started that they ran out of things to do with him so they focused on Brock more instead.

Aside from the Max/Misty bonding moment in the Cleffa episode in very early BF, Max didn't have a single spotlight moment for the rest of the entire season. It's a shame that he didn't get at least ONE more episode considering it was his final saga as a main character.

Then again, they pretty much shafted Drew the whole season as well until the end. Even May didn't really do much outside the Contest episodes in BF, which is a shame.
