I nickname my pokemon in other games, but because this is my first game on Ruby, i've decided not to nickname my pokemon until next time (so i can learn the pokemon actual names and not go 'what the hell is a shroomish?')

I hardly nickname my pokes unless I REALLY like them or if they remind me of something , for example I named my togetic cloud since for some reason it reminded me of cloud strife 0_o

If I can think of a name, I do. My main party tend to have better nicknames then the rest.

No, I don't name my pokemon. I prefer them to just have their ordinary name.

Way back when I first played Gold, Silver, and Crystal, I started nicknaming. However it just got too hard to remember who was who and so I eventually stopped. Then, when the Pokemon's little picture started to be displayed in your team, I began a little nicknaming then, for I could see who I was choosing. However I still only do it sparingly, and still only give really obvious nicknames.

I've never EVER nicknamed a Pokemon. I like Pokemons real names better lol. The only nicknamed ones I've ever owned are the ones from the in-game trades.

Only a few of my pokemon I gave nicknames to. In my Emerald, I nicknamed my Wailord, Antarctica, I nicknamed my Cradily, EX Cradily, I nicknamed my Armaldo, EX Cradily, and I nicknamed my Relicanth, Coelocanth.

You named your Armaldo EX Cradily? Why not EX Armaldo? lol

I don't nickname my pokemon... to much work
If i had one that was pretty special i might give it a special name if i could think of one at the time that way i could keep it seperate from the others.
I usually just name the boxes so i can track of stuff though.

Yes I do but usally give them really weird ones. Like I named my Blaziken Constipated and my Aggron Bicicle.

Yep! I like to see what interestingly weird nicknames I can come up with more my pokemon. Strangest yet: Lizdrafi for my Salamence. XD

Btw: This thread would make a good poll.

Oftentimes, I'll nickanme my Pokemon to their original Japanese names (excepet Gardevoir, since it's Japanese name is just plain idiotic sounding... Sirnight; ew). It looks cool, and seems more fitting than the dorky American names.
Or sometimes, I'll name them all after cataclysmic events that correspond with theyir type.

Only once i nicknmed my main team and it was things to do with there type eg squirtle=bubble

I actually never nickname my Pokémon, it makes it too hard to remember them IMO. Not to mention it can be hard to make up good nicknames for so many different Pokémon.
