Ash's Pikachu by far cuz it's basically the face of the Pokemon anime lol. We have been seeing that thing from the very beginning of the Pokemon anime, so there is an overwhelming nostalgia factor here that puts Ash's Pikachu way ahead of Cap.

We act like two legends can’t co-exist :(

This hurts my soul to choose between them haha. I remember back when Ash was announced to be leaving I was more sad about missing Ash’s Pikachu as well and wondering how on earth would the next Pikachu be as iconic

And well, they definitely met the challenge with Cap!! Such an incredible character and characterisation for the pokemon, I love him so much as well

I guess in the end I’ll choose Ashchu, but Cap is definitely such a great character

Ash's is iconic, had some good battles, has always been by Ash's side and managed to give him their last major victory and I like how different Cap is from Ash's Pikachu being strong and a leader of the group in many ways although he is being let down by the fact that this timeskip half has done very little with him aside from terastalizing once. Cap is a cool dude but I think Ash's may have a slight edge over it although I still like both.

Captain Pikachu isn't bad by any means, but let's face it, Ash's Pikachu codified what Pikachu is within the franchise. Nearly every version of the species feels like some variation of him. He's like Team Rocket's Meowth, he's just instantly who you think of when talking about that Pokemon.

Besides that, I think Ash's Pikachu is a reasonably nuanced character as a result of all the screentime he's had, and his characterisation not altering as drastically at whim of the show's direction like his trainer or other characters. I like his subtle growth from a scrappy brat, to a big brother type, to an altruistic veteran as the show goes on, while still retaining that goofy playful critter vibe to him.
