Do you think Alain defeating ash at the kalos league is rigged?

Discussion in 'Pokémon Animé Discussion' started by TheTitanicTaco, Aug 3, 2018.

  1. Theres been a lot of theories going around saying that alain cheated by using all of the mega evolved pokemon's energy he had collected and giving it charizard, therefore causing him to win, even though the show never mentions this. What do you think happened? Is the theory true, or did alain just pulverize ash (like every single person that defeats him at the league)?

It's been confirmed in the anime by Lysandre himself that Alain was being used to collect Mega Evolution energy to power up the Megalith.

Alain won because the writers wanted him to win. That's really all there is to it.

Show doesn't mention it because it never happened.

Even in XY they still narrated it as if the audience were clueless f***ers.

People need to understand Ash got beat fair and square because Ash is a scrub.

The theory of Alain cheating has several flaws in it, including the following:
    • Alain is clearly being manipulated. Why would Lysandre give him a device that powers up a guy that could turn on you the moment he finds out?
    • Mega energy is rare according to the narrative. Why would Lysandre fun the risk of having an energy collection device lose power for him?

No. Alain was literally overpowered and the writers didn’t want Ash to win.

The second reason alone is why I thought the match was rigged.

People are still in denial about this?

While it's a shame, at least it was the one loss they bothered to story segregate. If anything the plot and Alain's arc was stronger because Ash lost. You could pick on more random winners like Tobias who got no substance at all over Alain.

I’m just question why we’re focused only on Ash losing rather than the line of people Alain defeated.

The second reason pretty much sums it up, as well as his other league losses. No matter how strong Ash seems to be, if the writers wish it they'll have him lose.

Yeah, and the Kalos league loss is still believable than the Unova one, where the battle itself was really questionable imo.

Alain cheating by powering himself up isn't a "theory", it's an outright lie people created back when the Flare finale was airing because they didn't like the results of the battle.

    It's false, end of story.

No, the win was legit, yes the writer's ignored several factors to allow Alain to win but remember he's at an Elite 4 and his Charizard knows Thunderpunch level honestly I am surprised that Ash's other Pokemon did as well as they did against him.

If you want to see an Ash loss that is full of garbage watch the Cameron fight, seriously I refuse to believe Cameron got all those strong Pokemon let alone got as far as he did. I swear someone helped him train.

There's also the first league lost way back in the Indigo league, but it was inevitable considering Ash was a rookie at the time his luck was bound to wear off eventually Team Rocket just sped it up.

There’s literally no evidence towards Alain cheating in that battle. He and Charizard (plus the writers’ will, of course) were simply too powerful for Ash and Greninja. That’s all there was to it.

(And honestly, considering that Alain’s Charizard defeated 10 Megas - including an Elite Four’s - in a row, we should be happy Ash lasted as long as he did.)

Cheating or not, He's the worst part of XY/XYZ, that's for sure. His winning streak was so ridiculous that he almost seemed like a gary stu and somehow managed to be even more infuriating than freaking Cameron and Tobias.

Oh because he's scatter-brained. Um, news flash, being bad with numbers or messing up a location has nothing to do with training Pokémon.

Seriously, if you say this, then why not take every dumb moment Ash has had and question why he's good at raising his Pokémon and battles.

People keep on doing this, they take this huge flaw Cameron has in his character (which only effects parts of him) and believe it should affect everything he does. You do know that he's also aware of using the stars to pinpoint the correct way to go, right? So why not complain about his skill in doing that as well?

Why is it wrong for Cameron to have things he's good at along with things he's bad at? It shows he is not a 100% failure and should be viewed as a positive.

I think it's less that he's stupid (which is still a big factor) and more at how the odds were stacked to win, and Ash still lost. Nothing indicated Cameron was above Ash unlike, say, Tyson and Tobias before him. Then he had two 4x weakness Pokemon roasted, and then Riolu just happens to evolve mid-battle providing enough push to win.

Given a majority of League battles like this come down the wire, that Cameron was able to win 6-4 with a newly evolved Lucario taking out (I believe) half of Ash's team is why people hate it and think its bs.

That, and don't forget that he used 5 freakin Pokémon instead of 6. Even if we gave him the benefit of doubt by stating that he was dumb only outside of battles, thinking that a full battle needed only 5 Pokémon is inexcusable. And as you rightly pointed out, Ash was leading 4-3, and his Riolu ends up pulling the biggest BS, by beating Snivy, Unfezant and evolving and beating Pikachu. Cameron aside, no matter how mind numbingly idiotic he might have been, a lot of the anger directed at him is also due to BW Ash being really incompetent in general, and using a s*** team for the battle.
