Do you think there should be voice acting in Pokémon games?

Get the people who did the VA in the pokemon show to do the game.
Call in Bioware to make the moral choice option and story writing.
Customization to your own trainer.
Making a brand new pokemon game on Nintendo Wii or Nintendo Wii U with a connection to the DSI or 3DS.

I don't think it would be a good idea, I enjoy putting my voice on the main character and imagining what the other characters sound like, except for the ones on the anime, then I just put that voice on them.

Unfortunately, the anime has mediocre va's, just sayin.

I wouldn't like the trainers or other NPC's to have voice acting.
But when you started a new game in Fire red or leaf green, and it gave a recap of whats currently happened,it would of been nice if it had
narrators voice from the anime talking, thats the only way I would prefer voice acting if they were ever gonna add it in future games.

I've always found it strange how in the anime pokemon say their names, but in the games their cry is more like a cry from an actual animal or something that it could actually make. If I'm honest I like it better when they make noises rather than saying their names so no VAs on pokemon.

As for trainers? I'd find it annoying after a while. Maybe if there was a way of turning it off. That and what has been said before, I like to put my own voice on characters; sometimes characters anime voices don't fit my personal canons of that character so I have a different voice in my head for them. Giving characters set voices could ruin that.

If the voices are anything like they are in the anime, then definatly no. I still don't fully support the idea in any circumstance, though.

Pokemon doesn't need voice acting. When you think about all the dialogue, it would be hard to imagine EVERY SINGLE PERSON having spoken lines. And for fan-favorite characters like N, if fans didn't like the voice, they'd say that the character was ruined. It's better to leave the characters as they are than run the risk of upsetting the fanbase. Pokemon has done well without voiceover, and it should stay that way.

The battle cries of the Pokemon are fine too. Just because the anime does it differently doesn't mean the game has to.

Voice acting for human characters would be kind of pointless. Usually only a couple
people have more than one line and it really wouldn't add anything for the trouble.

Voice acting for pokemon themselves; hell no.

The main issue I have with it is file size. Admittedly compression techniques are better than during the N64 days, but there's only a limited amount of space in a NDS card. Many games that use full voice acting use disk space larger than the Largest known NDS card. (Exception is given to Guitar Hero/Band Hero.)

Voice acting actually complicates things, at the moment, For example in B/W, when N speaks to you. He will references your lead Pokémon by it's name or species.

The main issue is that some Dialogue that uses variables which is made from the player choices.

In PBR, the latest Pokémon game with voice acting. The Narrator actually said each Pokémon 5 times to reflect the 5 different "moods." (That's 5 times 493 Pokémon, making 2,465 files just naming Pokémon) Most "lines" (despite being cut up) are repeated, in different "moods".

Your Name is almost impossible to record just in the off chance it's used. Many games that use Allow you to this NEVER refer to you by your chosen name. In Fully voiced Skyrim, you're called Dragonborn or Dovakin often. Same goes for your first name in Mass Effect Series. Sometimes they refer to the player character without gender identifiers.

Text to speech in Japanese version if you force phonetic symbols only, which is doable, but messes up existing custom Pokémon names. Take a look at Zelda: 4 Swords Adventure's Navi Trackers, or not as you can't play it in the non-japanese versions. Anyway, I've found a video of someone using the name Ritsu. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVm4QqhfSVo&feature=related Tetra will mention the name a few times, first time at 29 seconds in to confirm the name. This game allows 4 characters (or Links) to play at the same time Tetra runs a commentary with guests popping in. Well Zelda does have a cute sneeze.

Goodish news is that Text to Speech engines are getting better all the time, and almost human or can be used in cell phones. I believe that assuming that it's programmed well, Vocaloid is almost human.. And they brought a nearly complete "engrish" Voicaloid to the PSP. Although I think it sing about the need to feed on a tree frog. Seriously Snake really knows know how to infiltrate the Voicaloids: http://youtu.be/N64IDscE5NI

I'd say yes to voice acting because it wouldent take up much of your time.

Uh... No offense, but how fast of a reader are you? I think reading is much more faster than listening to someone read to you, it'd probably take more time if anything, not to mention it'd take up HUGE amounts of space. Maybe voice acting for story cutscenes but that's about it.

Mainly, it's about the space that it'd take up. I'd much more rather have animated Pokemon sprites that are used everywhere instead of voice acting that'd only be used once and only being used in the story.

I'm more leaning toward "no". The spin-off games are the closest we'll get to actual voice-acting, and even then, most of the time it's from the original source. Though actually, Pokémon Puzzle League is the only one with the main anime characters in it (I believe), and it has voice-acting from the 4KIDS voice actors. But the voices aren't all over the place. They just say catch phrases, and the rest of the time it's just text. Only the cut scenes have full voice-acting. And the game is well-received, I've heard no complaints about the voice-acting.

But for the main games, no, I'm fine with the text and silent protagonists. It helps add to the charm, really.

With the exception of "Hey you Pikachu!" and PokePark2 only because I've not played them, almost I know all voiced Pokémon games used their Anime Voices. Actually, All but a few games use 4kids VA's and that only because they where the official voice actor for the Pokémon at the time. The games that don't use the Japanese VAs or use the "current" VAs. Many of those voiced Characters in 4Kids episodes.

With the exception of Pikachu in Yellow and Stadium 1 and 2, all Pokémon are only Voiced by VAs in Spin off games. Human commentary done by one of two actors in the 3d "Stadium" games, both appear in Series 1 and appear in the first Black/white Episode, voicing the same "characters."

Could go either way. I mean, that's something else they'd have to dub, and the Pokemon anime doesn't exactly have a good track record with dubbing. So most likely the dub of the games wouldn't be too good. If they do the speech and text, though, then they could leave the speech undubbed.

VA is quite better spin off wise than main series wise. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon benefits those, for characters can have their own personality.

And posibly the coliseum series too.
But thinking about putting your own voice like in that star fox game via self voice is an okay option.
