Look guys this is serious.
Do you use an emulator on the PC to play your pokemon games?
I know that most of you doesn't...but would you consider the one who does as a cheater?
Where I live, it costs me about $90 to buy a GAMEBOY ADVANCE system and about $21 for a gameboy game...about $210 to buy a GAMECUBE...
It's almost imposible for me to play pokemon the way I want by using the systems so I often use emulators...
If you do use emo's please state the reason.

I believe the term you're looking for would be 'cheapskate'.

In other words, launch prices. So what're you whining about? Ever heard of buying things used or online? ;\ Here's an idea! Get a job! :O

There's no excuse for being a cheapskate.

Back, I guess.
I admit it: I use Emulators. But not to play every single Video Game on earth. Just to play those games that happened NOT to get released to the general public, such as, say, Starfox 2. That's it. =/

I use emulators alot. But that is more cause I don't care much for the Handheld gameboy systems. I still buy the games I like(I don't play the ones I don't like so why buy them) I have no trouble supporting something I like and enjoy... but I don't like supporting something I don't really approve of. And for some odd reason I don't like the handheld systems(of any company). I'd much rather use my laptop.

I use emulators only to
a. record music
b. to make videos
c. to "rent" games
d. and to rip screenshots and tilesets
And sometimes to get Japan-released Pokemon games to tide me over until the English version comes out.
I have my reasons!

I used a lot of them when I was about 9-11 years old. When I didn't know it was illegal. Nowadays I don't use any emulators, I still played today some of the Sonic games, because I own them all in Sonic Mega Collection. Then I just didn't wanted to play them and removed the emulator.. Currently I'm trying to get the Sonic 3 & Knuckles -game without "cheating" in SMG, I'm hoping to get it soon because I've played S3 and S&K every day 0.0..

Yes I use them only to try out the game. Thing is I usually buy the game I download an emulator for. Besides playing pokemon games the comp is kinda stupid when you can't tarde.

I downloaded a Pokémon Emerald emulator before it came out in the states. But when it did come out I bought it, so whatever. XP

The old fasion way when I feel like it just buy the games and play it. When I get frustrated I pull out my cheating device that is all.

I am soon going to download an emulator, but only so I can rip sprites and I'm only going to download games I already have. I would never use an emulator to play games because it is basically stealing.

Why yes I do... and I still have most Pokémon games.

Emus are good to get a few Sprites, templates and such for people that are into it. Plus, they also allow faster gameplay (Something possible only in the Stadiums for whatever reason... ), immediate cheat code entry, and well... save money.

I don't play mine much anymore, though. Still, I have them for whenever I feel like going through the game's story again. They also help for playing those videogame jewels you're pretty much unlikely to get your hands on (Chrono Trigger, as an example...). And well... it's my only access to Pokémon GSC, seeing how I smashed my Gold cart. :p

I know places in the world that, according to my logic, should get GAMES for about... $150. ;/ I'm not sure, but it all indicates that.

Me? I do. Only not for games I own. I use them to get sprites, play games I own with a faster gameplay, hack into ROMs (Even if I usually get tired. >.>) and other shit like that. >__>

EDIT: XD, I acidentally said "only for games I don't own" before. XP *edits*

Yeah, but usually as trial versions e.g. before buying Crystal, I tried an emulator and I liked it so much that I got the cartridge for my GBA. But when I played Ruby, I didn't like it very much so I didn't get it for my GBA. :/

And these games are HELL expensive where I live. They cost much more here than they do in the U.S. or other places. I got my GBA for roughly around $120. Can you believe that? And the games cost a lot too. So I can't buy every game of my choice; I'm forced to use emulators at times, though I try to avoid it when I can.

Actually, after my post here, I did some research and found out that a GBA GAME sometimes costs a minimun wage in Argentina? :/

Yeah. >__> It's called being a C-H-E-A-P-S-K-A-T-E. =/

On-Topic: I also use them to cheat the fuck outta the games too. :D But IK bet I would play with my VBA more if ROMs weren't so hard to find. :/

Whiny, whiners!

Using an emulator is NOT being a cheapstake! It's called being smart and saving money.

When pokémon Ruby/Sapphire came out, I downloaded it, played it through and had alot of fun before it was even released.

Emulators are fantastic little programs. You can use them to test games without spending alot of money on buying the crappy thing. I've tested nearly a hundred games on VBA. Say that one game maybe costs $20. 20x100=2000... $2000! Would you spend 2k on games you just wanna test? I doubt you would. Add to the fact that the newer games may cost even more.

I never buy a game before I test it on an emulator.

You may now start the whining again.

EDIT: I rarely even buy the game when I like it because I just play games on my GBA when I'm on the flight or something and have to sit still for ages.. And even then i usually download 'em to my flash card.
