Do you use your starter's special attack? Like Venusaur's Frenzy Plant, Blastoise's Hydro Cannon and Charizard's Blast Burn?

Discuss.

Heckz naw. Those moves are newb moves. Leaving yourself immobile for one turn is a very negative effect. Also, some attacks do more damage if you base it on 2 turns.

Blast Burn - Base Power: 150
Flamethrower - Base Power: 95

In two turns the base damage total is 150 for Blast Burn. While for Flamethrower, it totals to 190.

The way I see it, arI can spend those two turns in one of three ways.
1. Deal 150 base damage the first turn and be a sitting duck the second. The 150 damage is probably overkill.
2. Have an 85% chance (or less) of dealing 120 base damage the first turn, and the same chance of 120 base damage the next, not including odds changing for Rain Dance + Thunder.
3. Have a nearly perfect chance to deal 95 base damage the first turn, and 95 the second, for a total of 190 base damage with a 20% chance of inflicting a status condition (if applicable.)

I don't know about y'all, but I'm going with Door #3.

I taught my Blastoise it, although I'm pretty sure I want to take it off and just leave surf. >_<

But, you should see how bad my Sapphire movesets are. X)

No, I don't really use them. I mean sure, it's all so powerful to see them in XD.. but as mentioned earlier, they do make your Pokémon pretty much sitting duck the next turn, vulnerable to the enemies. In double battle, the other opponent can kill your Pokémon.

But yeah, I don't really like those moves that are like Hyper Beam. I always take that chance to kill the opponent when they do it on me. And laugh when my Pokémon survives. Not really, but.. whatever.

i used frenzy plant once to see what it was like but switched it for sludge bomb
they are powerfull but one of those risky attacks so they are quite bad what the others said dont be a sitting duck.

If I'm using a venusaur without sunny day, then I use frenzy planting. Other than that forget it. Like the others said, those moves leave you vulnerable.

i got all three starters though only my blastoise has this 00ber form of attack. cant get the other two coz i cant really trade them back into FR atm

RaZoR LeAf wins this Thread. :D

I don't use them. Actually, the only remotely useful Move out of those is Frenzy Plant, for the sheer lack of a half-decent Grass Move without a godawful drawback. And even then, Venusaur has enough Special Attack to pull off a somewhat decent Razor Leaf. It's still a kinda obscure alternative in Meganium, though...

But the other two... Surf and Flamethrower exist... =/

YAY! Original>You =3
Usually no. The only half-decent one for in-game is Frenzy Plant, 'cauze it is cool and Venusaur/Meganium don't have Leaf Blade.

...

The others just plain suck.

And yay for the Pokepolls section. :\

I use them the odd time...usually when there's something that just needs to die, and even then usually only if its their last pokemon. Otherwise I stick to Flamethrower, Surf, or Razor Leaf.

How about Leaf Blade? Only the treecko family can learn that so I'm assuming that a special attack. I only use that one.

I think Leaf Blade, Muddy Water and Blaze Kick are far more original, so no.
Yeah agreed the attacks by the kanto starters are a bit innaccurte (adding that in) and unoriginal.

pikachu!

pikachu?
yea but i just use frezny plant for the elite four to win

Nope. Never have, never shall. Hyper Beam should be spit-roasted in the earth's core, coated on gasoline, and sent to the sun.
