My parents were married with one kid and another on the way at my age, but I'm really not interested in either of those things at this point. It seems like much of my generation is just happy to do it later, since most of my friends aren't married or parents yet, either.
I really don't want to end up like my parents in any of their marriages, though, excluding my father's second. You know, married to the wrong person because there was a problem with birth control or married to someone who constantly berates and belittles me, with a bunch of screaming kids to try to balance on top of everything else I still want to do with my life.
I'm honestly more scared of that than I am of most things that could kill me. Maybe it's a bit of an unreasonable fear, but I spent most of my childhood watching how miserable it could make people.
Eh, I'm happy enough with my biff at the moment, and at my age I don't feel the need to rush.
BTW, deoxysxx, don't you think the world is better than you expected?
Not now, but a long time from now most definitely. I've always been a fan of the idea of true love lasting a lifetime, and raising a family.
I guess I was raised that way. Being from a stereotypical Catholic Family, that's been pretty much the dream.But...doesn't...everyone? Honestly why would you or anyone for that matter, feel that marriage is mandatory? Especially since it's not guaranteed for all couples?

I guess there's no real reason for why, it just has been.

How you were raised shouldn't affect you.
It's not on my agenda currently: mostly because I'm still young and also because it's not legal in most states right now.
That being said, if the right girl comes my way and we decide it's something we're interested then I'm not opposed to it. I'm a bit of a romantic at heart, so yeah, marriage could be in my future.
I'm kinda curious about the ages of those posting in this thread. You get different responses when you ask a 12 year old if they want to get married vs. asking a 22 year old.

You'll never know! Muahahahahahah
You're so clever.
