Does anyone actually like Dawn?

I've been noticing how much of an Ash, May and Misty clone she is.

First of all, she always has her starter out like Ash, she didn't evolve her starter, like Ash too, she has another Starter from two Generations ago like May, she does Contests like May, and she's getting a Pokémon from the Togepi line, like Misty. So what is original about Dawn exactly?
She's just a clone of other characters put together.

Instead of developing her Pochama so much, the writers should just evolve some of Takeshis Pokémon.

I think that Dawn is different than May and Misty, and that's the reason that I like her.

Misty didn't participate in contest. May won part of her contests too easily. Dawn is working hard to get things. it's more similar to the real life.

Yes I like Dawn, and she gets better screen time then Brock so yeah. If you don't like Dawn and are merely trying to gather her haters to this thread then go on ahead. Not everybody hates her like you do.

It's logical actually. How more characters appear how more plots Will be down again.
You could blame the writerz for that but come on is Pokémon we are talking about.

It is. Wouldn't be surprised if it got Closed though. Personally, I like Dawn better than the other 2 girls. I don't know why though. Probably I am more of a Pearlshipper than the other 2 as the series Progressed.

I think quite a few people actually like Dawn. There are elements about her that are similar to May, but really, shes not a clone of anyone. Least of all Misty. She's been given plots Ash had ten years ago, and a pokemon Misty never actually had. That in no way makes her a clone.

She also has a developing character story, something neither May nor Misty, which makes her more accessible then those two.

The biggest problem with her was that Piplup USED to be a screen hog (but you can't really claim that any more) and her rivals are fairly dull, but now we've got Ursala thats not a major issue.

Dawn has a better personnality development than May or Misty...

Ash clone ? just because she has piplup with same screentime than Ash's Pikachu ? =DDDD

And to answer to your beautiful thread. I love her. she's my favourite character in all Pokémon anime. I like Misty and May too but sorry Dawn character is better held than the two others =D

I think Dawn is a lot better than the other 2 girls. May won contests way too easily and it made contests really boring for me, Misty was funny but really didn't do much, Dawn, shes good at contests but she has good competitors making it difficult for her, it adds a lot of tension, I'm always sitting there thinking will she or won't she win this time, and it's less obvious than May's. I love her team. And yes she does copy a lot of characters but that's great for characters who have left the show like Misty and May, if you get me, there not around but there's still a sense of them being there.

Dawn is pretty much my favorite character in pokemon history. The only thing I hate about her story is the rivals but at least Jesse and Ursula make it better. I find her quite charming, funny and I love her team.

I love her, and i can't understand all the bashing about her.
She's always compared to May/Misty.

May/Misty time IS OVER ! Now it's her time, and it will be so for at least 1 and an half more year ! It's really time for a lot of people here to understand that.
At the end of the AG saga, i was sad May left, but i gave dawn a chance. And i now i know i was right, since i love her much more i ever liked May.

Won't it just be more easier for anyone to like her, or at least ignore her? She shines as much as ash, and the only reason for her lose streak is that DP is a LONG, VERY LONG saga. If she would have never lost or lost one/two time like May, the sinnoh contest saga would have been either stopped around DP 110 or it would have 2 contest every years ! She has more rivals, May had 2 in hoenn (and harley never beat her in hoenn) so this explains she won more. Dawn has FIVE rivals (okay, Ursula saves all because Kenny/Nando suck) it's normal there's more contests and more losses ! (it may seem obvious, but i really think lots of people here have difficulties to understand that) It makes Dawn struggle to make it to the GF just more realistic.

The fact she gets pokemon which other characters used to have is only for nostalgia purposes. And Ash used cyndaquil for gym battles, dawn uses cyndaquil for contests. Dawn's cyndaquil have differents moves than Ash's, i don't see where she copies him. Yeah, she's getting a Togekiss. If she will have a togepi, she won't have it for a long time, and togekiss has just an awesome movepool.
If Dawn copies, Ash too : He has a Staraptor, Jun/Barry have one. He will have a Torterra, it's Paul's starter. Who is copying who?

The only flaw which is in Dawn's personnality is her ignorance towards love feelings. (you can't say there's a real "love" between her and kenny), it's true that love/feelings made things better for Misty (with Ash, epics episodes) and for May (with drew, same thing), but Dawn has tons of character developpement (and will have further with the next contest).

I find this kind of topic just disgusting, since it was clearly made on purpose for bashing Dawn. Blob, you're just disgusting. It's Dawn who made me keep watching this series, and i won't forgive anyone bashing her. And you dare to say you're not bashing her?

i agree! poor brock only got three pokemon this season and all his good pokemon are at the gym!
and personally i prefer may over dawn.like you said she's nothing but a copycat. no offense

By that logic, May is an Ash clone, and Misty is an Ash clone, Max is a Tracey clone, and Drew is a Gary clone, and Brock is an Arceus clone.

Nobody's a clone of anybody, every character has traits of others but they aren't exact interchangeable copies of said characters.

With that out of the way, I like Dawn, her arc had great potential. But IMO, it's failed to meet any expectation I had around the beginning of DP. I'd rather have May's mehish/cool battles and interesting rivals that dirt boring rivals and mehish/alright battles with 10% more character development. I won't deny May had a lot of luck and DEM while Dawn's actually learning, but all that means squat if everything isn't interesting in the slightest.

not that i hate dawn, but has it ever occured to anyone that may could've just gone on into dp and done the contest? i hate to say this but i see no point in dawn's existence.

May only won the majority of his contest for AG saga lenght purpose. They couldn't put as many contests as in DP ! Why people keeps dodging the truth?
And if May had a "natural talent", why she didn't win any of the GF she participated in?

I like Dawn a lot more than Misty or May and I think she's the best female companion in the series so far. She has a lot of personality and is a hard worker. Her pokemon are also the same way.
