• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar passwords to elsewhere which has been accessed, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

We always recommend using unique passwords, and two-factor authentication if you are able. Make sure you're as secure as possible

Does anyone else NOT mind if Ash leaves for good after Journeys?

I don't particularly mind him "leaving" (doubt they're just gonna entirely drop him without somehow making him a recurring character anyway), but I also want to see what they could possibly be planning for him since he's basically the current world champion.

They could pull what Yo-Kai Watch did for one of its sequels

That is, have his kid be the new protagonist. Nemona fits enough of his personality traits that they could pass her off as his daughter.

And who would be the mother? Serena?

I wonder what they’ll do now? I should have placed bets.
We will continue waiting for his retirement. Hopefully this time writers will produce a decent plot.

Our expectations and the other's actions are different things, you know. We don't run this anime, we aren't OLM, and if this franchise have succeeded selling a half-baked game, surely they could continue exploiting Satoshi for the next 25 years. What a pity.

Replace Ash with who? Some random trainer who just happens to have Pikachu as their starter? Yeah, no thanks.

Without him, the anime is not worth watching.
Pretty much this.

The biggest issue I have whenever I see people say Ash should get swapped out is that there’s nothing potentially innovative or fresh about whoever could replace him, unless it’s something like Kukuis kid that does it (since Lei admires his “big brother”) and even that’s a stretch. Ash’s replacement would just be a mere clone and reskin of the original with a Pikachu (the face of the franchise), so there’s ultimately no point in swapping out Ash. Ash as a protagonists works and there’s no reason to try fixing what isn’t broken.

And if being perfectly honest, I’m not even that big of a fan of protagonist swapping that much anyway.

Lmao this has to be the worst thing i've read today

There are thousands of ways to create a much more entertaining and fresh protagonist than meehAsh

Do tell me what kind of protagonist can these writers make that could be *so* different from Ash when you and I both know that new character will literally have the same goal, use the same partner Pokémon and go through the same things Ash already went through?

What would be even worse is if they reset him entirely and remove all mention and reference to his accomplishments in Journeys and he's just struggling along to beat standard Gym Leaders and losing to rival characters and losing the League of that region.
Yeah, especially after becoming world champion. I really think Ash going to Paldea is stupid and pointless. His journey should have concluded after beating Leon.

*Beating Alain or Diantha in XY. Heck SM should have been like JN in terms of the PWC with Ash in a champions league of sort.

But Ash becoming world champion is better than winning a regional league. At least that way, he goes out on top.

He is the world champion if he wins all the leagues and beats all the champions
