• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Was that Yugi's grandfather's first name? I don't really remember the older episodes since it's been forever since I watched them, so I'm wondering where that was confirmed.

Solomon's his English name, yeah. He's Sugoruko in the Japanese version though.

I don't watch Yu-Gi-Oh for a long, long time... but I've ever prefered the original serie, before GX

I like them all equally, I guess.

I thought his shop was doing fairly well. He did have some competition since a new card shop was built, but I remember seeing kids in his shop during an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, so he must've still been in business. They probably did sell the Exodia cards, though. They were useless by themselves, so someone probably bought them in the hopes that they'd find all five cards.
I don't know, it always seem like it wouldn't be doing much business to me. Maybe because it was a small shop. Also, I don't remember it from GX, so maybe that's why I only remember it being empty most of the time. Speaking of GX, maybe they were sold to Marcel.

It was a small shop, but I figure that it must've been doing well if it was still around in the days of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. Speaking of which, maybe they should've changed the name of the series once the original ended. Simply sticking GX to the title just didn't seem right to me. And I'd laugh if Yugi's grandpa really did sell the Exodia cards away. I bet they'd sell well.

After Battle City I couldn't watch it. Seemed to loose its flair.

I've been wondering about this for the longest time: What exactly is the Battle City arc? Is that only the name for the start of Kaiba's tournament, or does the Battle City arc extend all the way to the finals on Kaiba's island? They both involved the exact same tournament, but I'm confused about the title of those arcs.

It's Kaiba's tournament. All of it. The only reason its even a question is the Virtual World Arc's causing the anime to label the finals their own mini arc.

Personally my favorite yugioh series is GX, and I agree after Battle City it kinda went random for a while with the Orichalcos and onward until the memory arc.

Battle City was great. The Virtual world filler arc was okay, but at the same time I felt it wasn't really needed. I mean other then expanding on Kaiba's hate for his stepfather it really only provided Tea, Duke, Serenity, and Tristan duels and all their duels were mediocre anyway. The Battle City tournament and finals were awesome though. And speaking of the Orichalcos saga, their about to finish the Battle City saga on the CW so that saga is next. Unless they skip it like they did the Virtual World saga XD, yes I have been watching the reruns on the CW in the morning. Nothing else to do when your stuck at home.

I knew that the whole thing was his tournament, but I was confused about whether or not the whole thing was called Battle City. I guess I thought that it couldn't be called Battle City if they weren't in the city anymore, but I now realize that it was the name of the tournament. Well, thanks for clearing that up. I loved that arc even though we got a filler arc in between the first part of the tournament and the finals.

The Virtual World filler arc wasn't necessary in terms of story, but it was necessary in terms of the anime's pacing. But yeah, I don't even remember how half of those characters won their duels, so that just goes to show that those duels were extremely minor. And I've been meaning to watch the re-runs of the original series on the CW 4kids programming block, but I always find myself watching 5Ds instead :x

I think their deck masters walked them through it. Duke was the only one who didn't need any real help. Tristan lost protecting Serenity, Serenity and Duke worked together to win. Tea literally had Dark Magician Girl hold her hand through her entire duel. I think I enjoyed the Tristan/Serenity/Duke duel more then Tea's if only because Tristan actually lost making their opponent look like a threat, while Tea had Dark Magician Girl on her side and with a card that important you knew she wouldn't lose. The new rules of the virtual world are like the only reason Yugi, Kaiba, and Joey didn't win their duels uber fast.

My little sister has recently become obsessed with Yu-Gi-Oh. She watches the show *every* day and never stops talking about how much she likes it, how awesome it is, how cool the characters are, etc.

As for me, I watched it a few years ago. I don't watch it that much anymore since I never got really into it. I have watched it a couple of times with my sister, though.

I watch it every weekend for the Original Series and every day for GX.
