Does anyone wonder...

Does anyone wonder what happens to a Pokemon you release in a game? Like, if you release your Latias, what do think happens to it? Does the Pokemon get deleted? Since the game mentions "If you release *insert Pokemon name here*, it'll be gone forever." So, I guess the Pokemon will get deleted. So, what are your thoughts?

I've heard tales that someone released a pokemon holding a masterball, and caught the same pokemon, same level, same item. This was G/S/C, IIRC. 'Doubt it's true, though. As for Legendaries, I doubt that you'll be able to encounter them again. The internal memory certainly has enough to hold released pokemon, though. Almost 3/8's of the memory is empty.

It's actually a euphemism for a mercy killing. When a Pokémon outlives its usefulness, it is "released" by a team of doctors and a syringe of cyanide. Bye, Pichu!

Actually, if it knows an HM move, and that pokemon is the only one of yours that knows the HM move, it'll come back.

I'm guessing the game has some memory for released pokemon, but not alot.

Shouldn't this be in the Games Section?

Anywhays, when you release a Pokemon, it's gone. Though apparently there are tales of Pokemon coming back because they adored their trainers far too much and other excuses like that. Don't know if it's true, but all Pokemon I've released have never come back to me...

Probably deleted as there is no use for the unused data.

Hah... I thought of that same thing.

I never thought for this thing because I never released any of my pokemons except a Wurmple, and, it was an accident. I hope that in D/P we can encounter released pokemons again with a higher level...

I tried releasing all my pokemon once (just for the heck of it - without saving of course), but my last pokemon (a pelipper) kept "coming back" (wouldn't let me release it). Also, the move tutor wouldn't delete Pelipper's surf for me. So is it just the move surf that can't be deleted/released if it's your last, or are there other limits too? Could you release all your pokemon except for a level five silcoon that only knows harden?

I don't think it gets deleted because i re-caught my Feraligatr in gold when i accidentally released it.
