...Okay, just wow. XD
I find it wierd that even though the locations in the Pokemon world are based off of actual Japanese regions, the games seem to reference alot of locations
outside of Japanese locations (such as South America and Machisu's Gym Leader title "
The Lightning American"). I mean, yeah, they could just be locations in the Pokemon world with the same names as the real-life continents and countries that we know, but what are the odds of that? Esspecially since some of the regions in the games aren't exactly "named after" the Japanese regions they're based on (Jouto not being called the "Kansai" region and Shin'ou not being called the "Hokkaidou" region, for instance). Of course, those references could just be breaking the fourth wall, kind of like game instructions such as saving the game being said by a person or book in the game, but isn't referencing real life locations pushing it a bit?
That's why, in my opinion, Kanto, Jouto, Houen, and Shin'ou (pratically all the regions in the main games) make up the "Japan" of the Pokemon world, and as we've seen, Oore in the GCN games, could be apart of the land make up of the "America" of the Pokemon world. Of this could just be a theory of the game-canon. The anime canon - I'm not sure of.
