Does power make a Legend?

Okay...do you think that base stats (power) alone make a Legendary Pokemon? Could there be a Legendary Pokemon who actually can't battle well, however has such graceful beauty/good will/powers of creation/anything else that could make it Legendary? Please don't go just by the games, and consider this properly before you just go 'LEGANDARYS GOTTA BE STROFNG LOLZ U R A ****'. I want to see if you think that things other than power can make a Legendary.Express your opinion!

They are hard to catch because they are made to be, hence why they are Legendary.

True, but when they're both freshly caught from the wild with no training, the Trios are already very strong while with the "dragonite wannabes" as you put them, are usually at their first forms, and they take a very long time to level and evolve.

Anyway, the reason why they are refered to as "Legendary" is that they have a quality that is... legendary. Look in their pokédex descriptions, they usually tell their legend.

I'm glad you think that. I thought there would be loads of power-obsessed n00bs insisting that Legends must be powerful. In my opinion, the games are stupid, making the Pseudo-Legendaries(Dragonite, Tyranitar, Metagross) more powerful than the Trios-the true Legendaries. It's ridiculous.

I pretty much agrre with Chimungus. A good couple of Pokemon have higher base stats than most Ledgendaries. Not to forget Celebi's 8 (7?) weaknesses and Jirachi's limited (apparently xd) movepool.

Only ledgendary because they're powerful and one of a kind (in-game).

You forgot Salamence, and now Kaburaisu. I think its good that they do that to show that just because they are legendary, doesnt mean they are powerful

For me its not the power that makes a legendary, but its story/pokedex etc.
However legendaries are made powerful so that they can be 'respected' in game terms as well. No one would want a Mew etc. if it only had the same sort of power as a regular pokemon.

I agree actually, fair point. But it would be nice to be able to use a Legendary who's not so strong so as to be able to use it in competetive play. Fione's no good, because it is in the shadow of Manaphy, and is therefore rightly overlooked.

Legendaries are there to show that there are some special pokemon and are not ordinary. Can you imagine a rayquaza being a normal pokemon it would be made no good. Legendaries are made like elite pokemon so in the games there is always something you want.

Legendaries are Pokemon that are only obtainable once and can't breed (Metagross is not a legendary since it can breed with Ditto). That's it. Nothing to do with power; for example, Entei is absolute crap in battles.

And please don't confuse legendaries with ubers, in case anyone was going to list Mewtwo or anything like that.

Legends don't have to really powerful. It all depends on the stories that they have had,hance making them legends through story telling.

I'll bet Fione will get a benefit for sure: Official tournaments will most likely accept Fione where they won't accept any other Legendary. That's probably the reason why Fione is inferior to Manaphy in every way (when it comes to battline; I like Fione's appearance beter than Manaphy's).

Still, Fione is proof you don't need power to be a Legendary. Shuckle has a higher Base Stat total than Fione. So does Omastar, Claydol, and Fuwaraido. As a matter of fact, 480 is the mean and median total among all fully-evolved Pokémon (as of Generation 4). That means Fione's stats are literally average.

most legendary pokemon r legendary because of "powers" not game stats. They can also be legendary for were they hide, making them 1 of a kind
Celebi can time travel
Mew can become other pokemon
Deoxys comes from space
Jirachi grants wishes
Kyogre crtls the sea
Groudon ctrls the earh
Rayquaza is king of the air
The dogs and Lati@s cause they fast and r rarely seen.
Birds cause they nest in extreeenviorments
Lugia cause it hides under the sea
Ho-oh cause it lives like a god
Aurues is in another demention, and is a god
Manaphy is almost extinct, and fione is even closer to that
Regis locked away for being to powerful.
All the new $th gen legendaries can ctrl Time, Space, Life, Plant Life, dreams, volcanoes, or even our souls, so it's why the r legendary, their abilities, as well as were they r hiden, so no 1 sees them.

Übers(the proper spelling) are extremely powerful Pokemon, with base stats of 600 or more. Legendaries are Pokemon with Legends about them. See? I know the difference. Please don't take me for a braindead idiot. And Munchlax3000, you're partly right, but that isn't what makes the distinction between normal Pokemon and Legends. Also a few of them are very vague.

Fair point, I sboez. But still, it's a shame for Fione to be so similar to something so much powerful, as that will cause arguments, what with the 'Purists' going "Fione is better because it is weaker and you can beat it easier. I hate 00bers(damm misspellers) because they are strong and then you raise a good Team and a Kyogre thrashes them(not much of a Team then, eh?) and the n00bs who go 'LOLZ FIONE SUX MANAPJY SOOOOO BETTER IT UBER' and then the bashing and flaming starts all over again. Maybe an exaggeration, but still.
