Yesterday, I was in a battle w/ a wild Abra, I tossed a pokeball straightaway. I pressed the B button just as the ball closed, and again when the ball dropped for the last time, and again after every stop in the wiggling, and it was caught as a result, and I was wondering: Does this trick work? If so, is it a glitch or a lost cause? Voice your opinion on this trick in the above poll, and tell me why your opinion was voiced here...

The game I caught it in was Emerald.

EDIT: I apologize if you saw my thread in the regular discussion forums, I was so in a hurry that I couldn't tell that this was a poll and belongs in a sub-forum, so I deleted the regular version of this thread and that's how this version of this thread came about...

which game was this in, just out of interest?

i know that in RBY you can easily catch pokemon with a glitch like that, but then again RBY is full of glitches.

Those tricks are just urban myths. People use them everytime they throw a Pokéball and when they finally catch it, they think the trick off course helped them. Other then that, people do it so they have something to do during those moments of tention.
In fact, it usually works against me. It seems that I catch Pokémon more often when not pressing anything than when I use these tricks. I remember against the Red Gyarados, I couldn't catch it, no matter how low his HP was, when I used the pressing trick, but when I did nothing I caught it at about 2/3 health.

It also never seemed to work for me in R/B/Y.

Edit: I think option C is pretty pointless. I don't think it works, but I do think it's a glitch? You must have split personality or something to choose that option.

I doubt those little button-mashing things really work, but I still do them out of habit. :p

I mash up on the control pad and B whenever I throw a Pokeball, just in case it works. I doubt it does, but we might never know.

I agree with everything He/She said. Only thing is I don't play RBY.

It is sort of like cheat if you throw a pokeball, greatball or an ultraball and right when it closes press and hold the a button you will have a 20% percent rate of catching the pokemon better.(for more cheats go to pokemon village.com they have all kinds of cheats).
