Hmm, I think you're right!

Of Ash's Pokemon, the best example of serious battler/funny personality I can think of is Squirtle. And I wager few people would be able to conceive of Squirtle as "serious" anyway.

I agee with Gravy about Happiny and I feel very stongly about Croagunk. Sure, Toxicroak is powerful and badass, but I just can't imagine him having the same appeal as Croagunk does.

I LOVE Treeko the way it is, because Grovyle and Sceptile look really strange but Treeko just looks awesome. *Starts a new game in Emerald with an Un-evolving Treeko*
