Yes. Starters are meant to be that rare. Besides, you can breed them, what's the problem? Just get another game for another starter.

Getting a limited choice makes the starter more characteristic. If they were in the wild as well they would lose their uniqueness.

I agree with him, that's why Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is so uber, u can get all the starters, even from other regions!

I like one starter per game. But in certain areas you can catch them but its a 1/800 chance.

But having only one in the game ( and not to mention being limited to choosing only one ) is one of the things that makes them so interesting and important to us.
They wouldn't be so highlighted if they were as catchable as other PKMN.

Starters should be catchable after certain requirements have been met in the game. Even then tho, they would have to be extremely rare.

I find it weird that the starters aren't in a wild. Yet, in the games I think the Prof. catches them? At least with Johto I think. Anyway, they should make them in the wild, like in the Safari Zone.
