I like Dootakun now that I saw the Sugimori art, it looked hideous to me before. AND it does have the slight resemblance to Claydol, but is nowhere near as ugly.

I like Dookatun. I am big into Japanese mythology, and bells (and Dookatun's predecessor, the mirror) are steeped in myth. I just wish it was a little more silver than blue.

Thank you, SPPf! :)
That's the Sugimori art. It hasn't debuted in the anime yet, and probably won't for quite some time.

I like Dootakun. also it's pre-evo, Doomiraa. It's Eyes will be the red circles.

Dootakun looks like the Liberty Bell

*searching on google for images of the Liberty Bell comparing to Dootakun*

Dootakun's body is less shaped than that from the liberty bell. It's species says: "Bronze Bell Pokémon" It must be based on an ancient bronze bell. also Doomiraa that resembles a medal or a mirror with a face.

I'm confused as to how Dootakun's "arms" move.

His arms are the Yoke of a bell. It's a Psychic/Steel type. With his Psychis abilities he will move his "arms" by bending them. And he will maybe levitate too. He cannot hang forever in a tower.:)

Has anyone know that Doomiraa and Dootakun has a symbol on their back. that looks like a tree or a branch?

Yeah, it's a weird tree thing. I assume it probably has some meaning....

That's how the animation appears.

Doomira is inspired, clearly, by Japanese mirrors (I saw one, believed to have belonged to Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess). There is a story about a town collecting mirrors from the local women to create a bell. One woman reluctantly gave hers, but, it was passed down through her family. The bell became cursed, because the woman did not give the mirror over with good intentions. That explains a mirror turning into a bell. And, if you have seen any bells of the period, they do look like this. It resembels a dogu, somewhat, and that is what Claydol was based on. There might be aztec influence, but, it's barely there. The Japanese began metallurgy around AD 300 long before the Aztec existed. DotakuJapanese bells that Dookatun are based off. (link goes to a GIS)

I was just looking at it, and it seems to be based off of Aztec or Mayan art.
