I'm not sure which is more up in the air at this point, what will happen in this ep or in what way Cybercubed will complain about how it's an AG ripoff. It's pretty much a given that Hikari will lose(Cybercubed:"May lost her first contest too! OMG RIPOFF even though I was complaining before that Hikari was TOO good!") and her rival will show up(Cybercubed:"One of May's rivals appeared in her first contest too! RIP. OFF.")...aside from those obvious speculations for what will happen and how Cybercubed will complain about it, there's not much to say at this point. Other than this:

I hope she can do something really unique with her first appeal. I really don't want Mimilol anywhere near the appeal portion of the contest, because Ice appeals are beyond boring by this point. Whoop-de-freaking-doo, I can make a pillar of ice in some shape or form! Not exactly enjoyable the billionth time, and about as lame as a Lime with an 'a' and no 'i'. How's that for a metaphor, eh?
So truth be told, I'm hoping for something similar to Houen's set-up, where a single pokémon does both appeal AND battle. Naturally I want there to be some alterations to the formula, but that's one Houenism I'd like them to adopt.

In any case, I want to see Pochama do something with Bide during the appeal. Maybe lauching it's Bubblebeam into the air, doing some pretty stuff with it before running into them with Bide activated. Which would result in the grande fianlé of a Bide attack being emitted from the little penguin, perhaps breaking some of the remaining Bubbles in the process?
I dunno, that's just a silly little idea. But it's better than a plain ol' "Shoot bubbles, lol purdy!" performance.

And I do hope one of Hikari's future rivals does show up in this one. Hikari is in desperate need of character development at the moment, and this is going to be their best opportunity to get the most out of her. If they don't take that chance, I'll be sorely dissapointed.
Or if they really want to push the bar, maybe they could have Hikari actually fail to get past the appeal round. That's something we've never seen before, and it would be a surprising twist.

I reckon that. I'm still wondering if she will make her debut(which she probably will). I wonder what pokemon she'll use though.

i hope that Pochamo is her contest pokemon. It makes the most sense as its her starter pokemon.

I actually see Mimilol doing the battle instead of Pochama, who would best off do the appeals due to have much more practice with them. Obviously the questionable-sexuality rival is going to crush her.

I think it's blatantly obvious she'll use the same bubble appeal with Pochama that she did in D/p #7. What do you think she was training it for? Of course she's going to use that appeal first. They also may not be required to use different Pokemon for each round like the Kanto ones.

I really hope her rival does show up, but I think she probably will.

A good portion of May's character was defined by her rivals. You had a metrosexual who was trying to get into her shorts all saga, as well as a flamboyant gay man who tried to take advantage of her. The May/Drew/Harley dynamic is what really made her story so great, especially in Contests where all three of them were in it together.

I'm hoping the same applies to Hikari, and she's defined by her female rival as well. A good way to distinguish Hikari from May for good is to make Hikari into a lesbian. Not only would it be a first for Pokemon, but seeing Hikari's rival try to hit on her would be good entertainment. Everyone liked Drew handing May roses, eh? So the same should apply here.

And yeah, I think it's more likely than not at this point that they're leaving out the dancing and just turning them into the same thing as May's Contests, because they would have told us about the dancing by now if it was in it. Hikari's mother won the Grand Festival so Hikari knows how Contests play out, and since Hikari isn't teaching Pochama to dance, I guess that's out.

It's a shame too, because everything that *could* set Hikari apart from May, it doesn't look like the writers are doing. Hikari simply wearing a dress each Contest doesn't exactly make a world of difference...aside from fanservice.

Considering if you compare May and Hikari side by side anyone can notice how strikingly similar they are, Hikari needs a boost in the right direction to set her apart.

Let her dance on stage for all I care, at least it'll be SOMETHING different.

This is the same show that had a flamboyant gay man with even more dodgy lines in the dub than he had in the original.

We don't even know whether or not Hikari's rival will be a lesbian, for all we know she just dresses like one but likes guy's. Hikari most likely isn't one but meh. Any ways awesome, I can't wait to see Hikari's first contest and to see her rival. It would be so cool if she used Pikachu as one of her Pokemon. If that happens though than shey'll def loose, becuase one of her Pokemon could possibly like Pikachu {Crush} Type and try to flirt with it while doing Contests. And Cybs please...please....please stop comparing Hikari to May, its much eazer to just not think so much and enjoy the show.
