WHERE IS PIDGEOT?!
if theres already a thread like this, sorry (i already looked anyway) if there is, could someone post a link to it?

right. so. when ash went to Johto, he kept his team, and ended up "releasing" charizard and squirtle. then, in Hoenn he left his team behind to start afresh. do you want ash/may to keep their team, leave it, or just leave some of it? which pokemon should they keep with them? go for it.

i think ash should just take Pikachu, Sceptile and Glalie(dunno why. well it's just way cool and it probably misses Ash cos its a loner, whereas torkoal can have fun with cyndaquil and totodile. aww). then he can catch a bird, a fire pokemon, and the water starter. and then whatever else he wants to catch. i doubt Sceptile will be released.

May. well i think that something will happen with Squirtle and Bulbasaur. i doubt she'll leave Squirtle at Oak's, and i doubt she'll leave Munchlax anywhere...but i think her team will begin with Combusken, Munchlax, Beautifly(which may wants to introduce to Shinou, and Squirtle will replace it as caroline's fav) and POSSIBLY Bulbasaur, but i want her to catch the Shinou grass starter.

Brock. if he doesnt stay, i think Bonsly will go to Max or Ash. if he does, his team won't change. i dont think. well lets just say he'll keep Marshtomp Geodude Bonsly and Crobat.

Misty. if she does come back (the writers are probably itching to bring back the wateryness and couldnt keep her away from the advanced seasons) she'll probably just have Azurill Psyduck(by accident, of course) Corsola and Politoed. maybe Luvdisc. of course theyre not going to give her Gyarados, cos its too powerful. the writers dont like power. they like cutesy colourful plush dolls.

i think this is just another thread of favourite pokemon to make teh ub0r team.

the thing is in the new dp season, I think Ash should just keep his team just now, or maybe make a few adjustments to it.

May might have a bit of a change or just bugger off really.

As of Brock I don't want to say tomuch really because I can see things coming from all angles here. Just bring back Crobat fsss.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
What's really going to happen:

All Pokemon except Pikachu, Combusken, Munchlax and perhaps Bonsly will be Oak'd, Petalburg'd, and Pewter Gym'd.

Ash will eventually have a team of all D/P Pokemon, May will keep Combusken since its her starter, Munchlax is a D/P Pokemon, and the rest will be filled out with new Pokes. At this point, I'm unsure whether Eevee will continue or not.

If Brock is still around, I can see him taking Bonsly, and getting all new Pokes otherwise.

May's squirtle has been getting alot of attension this arc which makes me think it will be put to stay at Oaks.

You got Oak'd correct, but the other two are "Burg'd" and "Pew'd". (OK, I made that last one up!)

As to my opinion/expectations:

-Satoshi: Pikachu, Jukain, Heigani (please!)
-Haluka: Wakasyamo, Gonbe :)(), Eievui
-Masato: nada! ;)
-Takashi: Usohachi, and whatever else

(Yes, I know I don't usually use the Japanese names. I just felt like it right now...)

If Ash takes anything, it'll obviously be Pikachu. As for May, I can see Combusken for sure, aswell as Munchlax, and depending if Eevee evolves or not, it too. Brock'll be stuck with Bonsly, most likely, and hopefully Marshtomp. <33 Max is silly, and doesn't have any Pokémon. Mwaha.

Once Ash and the others are in Shinou, They'll probably leave a lot of pokemon behind.

Ash- Pikachu and Sceptile are a must. He could also get Donphan or Glalie back...or just have Pika and Sceptile, then catch a bird pokemon, a fire starter, and a water pokemon (that evolves for once!). Or get combo types like flying/fire so he can get more cooler types...like psychic!

May- Munchlax and Combusken a must. Eevee if there are any new Eeveelutions. Squirtle can be oak'd or burg'd or evolve. Bulbasaur can come back and evolve, as for Skitty and Beautifly, they can stay at Petalburg.

Brock- Bonsly and take back Steelix and/or Crobat, most likely leave Marshtomp and Forretress.

Max- If lucky...Ralts

If Misty comes back- she can get the water starter, Corsola and Azurill and Psyduck (who should evolve...) also possibly Staryu (she carries it around like all the time!)

Should this topic stay open...

Ash should take Corphish. Everything else will be Oak'd (obviously Pikachu goes with Ash).

May will take Combusken and Munchlax. If Eevee has a D/P evolution, she'll take it. If it evolves into one of the known evolutions before the end of the saga, she'll leave it behind. I think Squirtle will go to the Squirtle Squad. There's still the retun of Ash's Squirtle right, or was that proved false?

Brock, should he remain in the group, will take Bonsly, and maybe Marshtomp with him. He will continue to ignore his pokemon at the gym, and he'll discover that Forretress died after neglect.

Max, go get your damn Ralts!

Why are people speculating on Misty's return? Ok, if I must, Psyduck, Corsola, Politoed, and Gyrados.

For Ash i think 3 pokes go with him. now try to figure out the pattern (it's not hard):1-Pikachu
2-Totodile
3-Glalie

for May i see these 3: Eevee, Combustken and Munchlax

for Max I HOPE HE'S Gone with the wind

for Brock these 2: Marshtomp and Bonsy

so have you figured out what the pattern is in the 3 i chose for Ash?

Part of me thinks that all of the pokemon will be dumped before the start of the new season, part of me thinks they will all just be slowly fazed out when the D/P pokemon take over, like what happened in Johto.

In case everything gets dumped, Ash will only take Pikachu. That's pretty much a given. The writers need their room to sport off the new Grass/Water/Fire/Flying/Random-type-of-their-chosing Pokemon.

As much as logic would tell me that Combusken is going to stay with May because it is her starter, I still think it will get ditched, along with all of her other pokemon (except either Eevee or Munchlax, depending on if Eevee has another Evolution or not and how much they have shown Munchlax's battling stuff off by then...so probably both of them). Don't forget, Brock's starter was Onix, and he wasn't too harsh on leaving it with his brother.

Speaking of Brock, for the love of all that is holy, get rid of him. If not, Marshtomp is sure to get the boot, maybe he'll forget to get rid of Forretress, like he has all of AG.

My opinions:

Ash:
Pikachu
Glalie
Sceptile
D/P fire starter pokemon
D/P pokemon
D/P pokemon

May and Max should leave or at least Max returns in a later episode with the Ralts.

Misty (She must return)
Corsola
Psyduck (It sneaks with her)
D/P water starter
Azurill

Brock
Bonsly
Steelix (It was his first pokemon when it was an Onix)
Graveler (Geodude should evolve)
Marshtomp
D/P grass starter

That's just my opinions though.

Makes me think...

Ash:
Pikachu
Corphish (Getting neglected >_>)

May:
Combusken
Munchlax
Squirtle

Brock (if he's not gone..):
Bonsly
(everything would have died from neglect)

Max:
Well guess what, Nothing....Again!

Izit cuz I is black?
Ash will have Pikachu definitely, and possibly Sceptile for a short time while he's getting started. He'll catch more pokemon to fill up the 4/5 spaces. Or he might take his whole current team and conveniently Oak them one by one the day before he completely coincidently catches a new pokemon.
May doesn't tend to have many pokemon, so she has room for a few oldies. Definitely Combusken, and very probably Munchlax and Eevee shall join her. She's had three additional pokemon each saga (since I actually consider Munchlax a BF capture since it did nothing previously to that saga) and that'll bring her up to a team of six.
Brock... does it matter that much?
Max will catch a Weavile, which shall then evolve into a Megasneaze

From what I Chris Cox (my real name) have seen in the Movie 9 trailer I really think that May will have caught Buizeru by then. even though I am more interested in what pokemon Ash catches.

I really doubt that Haruka captures Buizeru by the time that movie happens.

I think Ash should just take Pikachu with him to Shinou, and that's it. I love when a trainer restarts his journey.. I think the writers want to kill off all of the old Pokemon, like Cyndaquil and Kingler, and focus on Ash's Hoenn Pokemon now. I really don't think Ash will really even use his old Pokemon again, just Pikachu and his Hoenn Pokemon maybe.

I think Satoshi'll get the fire starter this time and Haruka the water starter...Takeshi doesn't need the Grass starter cause it'll just die.

Since Ash is probably the only Main Character we can be certain will return, I think it's in best interests to only worry about his team for now.

Ash will no doubt be stuck with Pikachu in his grand entrance to Shinou. That's a given. (Golly would they knock me off my feet if that didn't happen)

The act of which Pokemon to bring with him depends on the entire theme and feel of the new series. As we saw with AG, it was a rekindling of the Pokemon anime, serving to rejuvinate the series. Thus, the clever idea to have Ash take NO older Pokemon to Hoenn was ingeniously devised. Johto, on the other hand, was a continuation of the older Pokemon series despite being a new land. This may be due to Johto being connected directly with Kanto, where as Hoenn was not, but who knows... Take your pick. But because of this, Ash still held his old Pokemon, which were eventually phased out in favor of the Johto Pokemon. And Battle Frontier, being an odd mix of Hoenn and Kanto elements, served as further growth for his Hoenn team (+1 Phanpy).

What all of this leads into is simple: based on the direction the writers choose to go, they will keep/change the team accordingly to reflect said direction. What we discover is that ultimately this direction is under influence from the games themselves. Orange Islands were short and filler-y because they had no game counterparts out; Johto was a blend of old and new because GSC did essentially the same thing on the Gameboy Color; Hoenn was set in a fresh new world and titled Advanced Generation to reflect the new and powerful Gameboy Advance games of Ruby/Sapphire. What remains to be seen is the innovative gameplay steps that Diamond and Pearl will employ on the DS.

At this point we are still very much in the dark. Aside from a couple of screenshots and premature Pokemon released into the anime, we know not what secret bringings D/P will serve up. Even when we do find out what functions the touch screen and dual screens will have, there's not a 100% guarantee that the writers will find an appeal in writing an entirely new anime series behind it. We know that Ranger, while having a brand-new capture system, is not being heavily focused on; the Mysterious Dungeon games are next to non-existant. One could chalk these occurances up to the fact that these games aren't among the traditional RPG adventures, but it is clear Ranger and Mysterious Dungeon and even the Gamecube games are not the most favorable of content to write about. So surprise, surprise--no new Ranger series or an Arc in Orre.

Truly, I'm of the opinion that Ash will have to obey the law set down by the new anime, which is really just the law of the new games. While I like the idea of him bringing along Sceptile and Corphish and Swellow into Shinou, it will not be a feasible thing to do if the games are supposed to be a new take on Pokemon battling overall. If these games offer up fresh and different ways to play, consequently fabricating an entirely new method of playing the RPGs, the anime will have to follow suit in an entirely fresh adventure, ala AG. But, if the games turn out to be more sequelish--that is, more of an extention of the GBA games, like the GSC generation was to RBY--then keeping some of the Hoelden-Oldies and then phasing them out will be the route to go.

And then there's the whole issue of which Pokemon to take! It's no mystery that Ash's current team is strong. Would it make sense to bring along a powerful Sceptile and have it tie at the first Gym? Johto apparently thought this was a sensible thing to do. Or not even Sceptile, a senior member by now, but what about Donphan? It's not even originally a Hoenn Pokemon yet it was getting massive attention in the BF. Do we say, "Eh, it's been redeemed for coming in late around Johto. Enough glory already." or instead let it tag along? Then there's the matter of Corphish, who hasn't evolved yet nor has been given a new attack. Oh, but it's plenty strong, taking on 3rd Stage Pokemon! It's a crazy balance to get into. And don't mention Swellow, who is hella reliable these days and also hella strong.

Heck, that's just the current team. Glalie did little beside show up the Evergrande Tournament and Torkoal was AG's *****. Why not bring them along? Is that fair to the other Pokemon though? And since they're strong as it is, does it make sense to bring reserves to Shinou in the first place? This is such a hard question to answer, which leads us back to the team discussion. Top ALL of this off with the simple notion that we don't know but more than a handful of D/P Pokemon and I'm ready to give up on figuring out Ash's team for the next region. Let it come to us.

I think that, if the "Spurt" intro is anything to go by: -
Ash: - Pikachu, Bayleef, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Larvitar and Corphish,(To give them a chance to evolve), and the others can be at Oaks and train if need be.

Brock (again by intro): - Forretress, Marshtomp, Bonsly and Tyranitar(Larvitars mother).

Max: - (Nowt)

May: - Combusken, Pink Butterfree and Munchlax.
