Dragon Ball Z Sparking NEO/Tenkaichi Budokai 2 (PS2 & Wii)

GameSpot's released a video interview from E3 regarding the latest Dragon Ball Z game. The American and Japanese developers give some inside scoops on what's to be expected in the game and show how much the game's improved from the first game.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/dragonballzbudokaitenkaichi2/media.html

The video can be found under Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 Interview 1.

It's so far been confirmed that the game will take place in Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. Over 130 characters will be selectable in the game and that characters can transform during battle or you can choose their transformed states before battle. Sixteen stages will be available in the game, making that an additional five included opposed to the previous game.

The Story Mode will be similar probably to that of the Legend of Goku games as you can travel around on the map and in cities while interacting with the people of the areas.

The list of confirmed characters so far ar:

  • Artificial Human #13 (Android #13 as well as transformed state)
  • Burter
  • Cell
  • Chaozu
  • Freeza
  • Garlic Jr.
  • Ginyu
  • Gurd (Guldo)
  • Hildegarn
  • Jeese (Jeice)
  • Kame-Sen'in (Turtle Hermit/Master Roshi)
  • Kuririn (Krillin)
  • Majin Boo (ALL forms)
  • Mr. Satan (Hercule)
  • Nappa
  • Piccolo
  • Recoome
  • Slug
  • Son Gohan
  • Son Goku
  • Son Goten
  • Tao Pai Pai (Mercenary Tao)
  • Tapion
  • Tenshinhan (Tien)
  • Trunks
  • Vegeta
  • Yamcha

The PS2 release is expected sometime probably in October, while a Wii release is to release much later on.

The Wii version will take advantage of its controllers, allowing the player to pull back the remote and stab forward to fire a charged Ki blast, like the Kamehame-Ha. They can also raise their hands into the air and bring them down, similar to charging up and firing the Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb).

Will you wait to buy this game for the Wii or buy it when it's released on the PS2?

EDIT:
Now that I watch the video, I think a majority of teenage/young adult girls will be embarrassed to make the rapid hand movements with the Wii controller :p .

Oh Man! I can't wait for this game! Its gonna be so much better than BT 1. The storymode sounds so good too. Its gonna be like the Legacy of Goku series.

Cell Games Stage, City, Dying Namek, Earth Wasteland, Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Islands, Supreme Kai's Planet, Kami's Lookout, Mountain Road, Namek, Rocky Area, World Martial Arts Tournament Stage.

There is also also:
~Power-Ups found around the battle field under the destructable environments.
~5 Special Moves for every Transformation
~Battle Damage
~Areas are 2 times bigger than BT 1
~Cut-Scene finishing moves (like in Budokai 1, 2, 3)
~Tag Team Battles ( I think)

I can't see the video, are the graphics better IN ANY WAY on the Wii?

The graphics will be better on Wii. You may not see the full difference on the E/3 demo though, they still have a lot to modify.

I wouldn't exactly count on that. Consider the ports to GameCube from Budokai and Budokai 2. What will probably be the only difference for Sparking! Neo would be the control scheme. Maybe a few possible additions since that's coming in later.

The reason for the later Wii release is possibly due to trying to not only finish the game for the PS2 first, but to also get the game to recognize every control issued with the Wii remote.

As for getting the game, I'm importing the PS2 version. I'm abit wary of Atari now considering when it came to bringing out Sparking! in the form of "Budokai Tenkaichi," the game ended up with a TON of glitches and errors. Then came the incident where all of their Greatest Hits Budokai 3 games remain the same as the previous copy, rather than including the Japanese voices and additional characters. They never got to it until about a month or so, asking for people to send in their copies to exchange them.

And I'm importing it for the PS2 because I'd rather not wait to play it on Wii. :p I'm too impatient with the new Dragon Ball games.

As for who I wanna see in the game..I sure hope Pan, Oob (GT), and GT Kid Goku are included. The female roster needs to be upped, even if by one, Oob was missing all together from the last game, and I wanna play as a small Super Saiyan 3. :(

God, I hope they fix the camera in this one. The camera was the main bad point in the first one; I was ****** and I hated playing the game due to the bad camera. And if it isn't fixed this time, I'd have to say that I won't be enjoying this as much as I want to. I really do like the concept of putting all of those characters in this game, though.

That's really cool and I'm happy that DBZ: Budokai Tenchaichi is finally going to be on Wii I'm going to own! Looks like I'll have to figure it out how to use Wii's 'nun-chuck' controller (is NGC controller's available for Wii?). With new additional characters, I'll bet this is going to be blast.

If you look at the video, you can see that the camera's been stepped up quite abit. :p

Sorry to nitpick, but that should have been LEGACY of Gokuu, not legend. ^.^
