Dragon Battle! Ash VS Iris!! (1154)

Ignition

We are so back Zygardebros
I thik Journeys is going with the latest games to decide a trainers status
The latest unova games had Iris as champion so they go with that
The latest Kanto games LGPE had Lance as Elite 4, they go with that
The latest hoenn games ORAS had Steven as champion, so I can see them going with that as well when he appears for Masters 8
Ash & Gary as the heads of the Battle Tree when?
Looking back it it was weird that Ash didn’t get a scene with Haxorus and they just went straight to battling. I know he wasn’t ask close with Axew as he was with let’s say Piplup but it would of been nice.

also I have a question for y’all. If this was a full six on six who do you have your bets placed on? Obviously it’s kinda hard with Iris 6th missing spot (depending on if you count Goodra or not).
With Ash’s current 6? Realistically I see Iris winning.

If it was Mr. Vish, I see nothing wrong with it.

And to think it wasn't even raining during that match and we don't know if how it used the move count as "used the move first"

yeah but it got KO by Ice Fang though (which is Dragonite 4x times weak to)

which in turn gets "constantly" countered by the argument that in the past Iris Dragonite had taken ice moves head on and seemed hardly phased.

granted I still think that they work, it's just that in the past iris dragonite was more focused and ready to take them on which is why it managed to survive against ice based opponents and did not go down.

Dracovish's appearance caused Dragonite to lose it's focused guard allowing vish to get in the win, even Iris was stunned by Dracovish's sheer biting power to the point that when she tried to make a comeback it was too late.

In hindsight this ain't the first time the sudden lack of focus cost both of them either. I think back to when Ash last fought Iris with Krokorok, before evolving Dragonite and Iris had the gator on the ropes, as soon as it evolved, both of them got shocked severely to where neither could do anything as Krookodile then sent Dragonite flying into a wall with dragon claw...and what happened? Dragonite got angry and started throwing a temper tantrum no longer listening to her, forcing Ash to go on the offense and end the battle.

Iris even admitted that their pace got thrown off after dragonite went down, which is something that can happen when dealing with unknown factors, but I know that's just gonna start another debate so i'll end it there.

yeah the reason Dragonite could take those ice attacks in BW era because, it KNEW when it was coming, basically prepared for SPECIFICALLY to endure ice Type attacks, in here it didn't know Ice Fang was coming (with combined Strong Jaw, assuming that is it's ability since it seems like Ice Fang hurted Dragonite more than expected)

With Ash's currently 6? I think Iris will win. If Ash decided to use his strongest Pokémon, then he probably will have a chance.

He has returned.
If his fairly new Dracovish was able to get a win Ash might of still won in a full battle with just his new team. Pikachu, Lucario, and Sirfetch'd are fairly strong at this point.

I am not so sure about that.

the more i watch this episode, I'm really starting to believe that Ash using dragon pokemon against her, might have very well been what got him the win in general.

First of all, he called Dragonite before the battle started, which gave Iris a chance to sense it's feelings, and thus lead to her talking to it during the match, if she cared more about victory then she could've waited until after the battle to say anything, but she didn't, and then there's her fangirl moment over Dracovish, which proceeded to catch her off guard with it's battle style, she did rebound but the damage was done, same with Dragonite learning Draco Meteor (then again she didn't see the attack coming so it's still debatable if her talk helped in that regard.)

Other type specialists in the anime like most gym leaders have shown to have massive self discipline and control when it comes to have to face what they love (even some of the crazier ones like Gardenia, who kept trying to squish any grass pokemon she came across, when it came time for battle she got serious) and then there's the battle with Olivia where she knew what was going on with Rockruff, but she choose not to say anything until after the battle was over, when she could've said something during the fight especially when Rockruff team killed Rowlet, but nope she kept her composure.

But Iris actions here, I honestly feel that if Ash had not used his dragon pokemon, he might not have won because Iris would've been more focused due to not being distracted by Ash's dragon types, because she loves the type that much.

Honestly I kind of hope Iris returns in the future and shows more discipline in battle, because if her own strength can be an Achilles heel, that that is not a good thing long term.

Sooooo.... Are you saying Alder lost because his ace is a bug?

no i am not, besides Alder's ace in the anime appears to be afro bull by default considering we never saw any of his other pokemon.

All i'm saying is that in my own opinion, It really feels like Iris' actions during this battle were caused by her love for dragon pokemon, if Ash had not used dragons against her then I believe things would've been different and she would've been more focused on winning, because I feel like Ash's dragons distracted her from going for the win.
