I didn't notice a topic for this great anime, there's a movie thread but not one related to the series.

There should be a load of new fans since they are showing the Ultimate Uncut episodes on CN. I think they should have showed them uncut from the start, it probably lost a lot of fans since then. I personally watch the Japanese version, I did start on the dub of course, but just moved to the original, it's certainly more entertaining by miles.

At least the Japanese version is available on the New Uncut DVD's, the early series is better story wise, but the later episodes have vastly improved artwork and have some wicked scenes, so it evens it out, I like to say I like it as a whole story, everyone has their favourite saga's, some argue over which are better, I just like the lot, it's like reading a book and choosing which chapter is the greatest, it's the whole book thats good, and DB and Z is just like a story with chapters (i.e saga's).

I know some episodes are needlessly dragged on and it is annoying when they show flash backs from 4 episodes back, and there are a lot of other things to make episodes last longer, simply because it was being produced while Akira Toriyama was drawing the manga, so to give him time(he was making chapters weekly, it must have been hell) they did this, they even made saga's he didn't draw to give him time to create more of the story, like the Garlic Jr saga, and people like Maron, Kuririn's old girlfriend didn't even appear in the manga, along with that Gregory bug, and even Pikon, and tons more.

And I don't really like GT at all.

Lol, few do. I mean, I found it a bit difficult to watch, to say the least.

Anyway, there is another thread for DBZ... I don't know if that movie thread you're talking about is the one, though.

BTW, if they're still at it, CN is currently showing the CUT episodes of DBZ. Some sort of censorship problems arose, and they had to switch back to the kid-friendly version. o_O

The correct term you're searching for is "were." Cartoon Network went back to airing the TV edited versions.

I call BS on that one. At least when early Z was animated, they put the first two teams to good use in animating it. The Saiyan saga had some REALLY good art, such as Goku's pummeling of Nappa. Then it just went downhill when they got the third, and WORST team to do a good number of the Freeza saga and later episodes. :\ They even had them go on to the end of DBZ.

You're thinking of Naruto. :p *shot*

Seriously though, the only time I was ever annoyed with a repeated scene was after Majin Buu was defeated, Toei felt they needed to remind us Majin Buu was killed during the recap episodes. x_X How many times did we need to see Babi being killed, or Buu's various forms rampaging, or the small Majin Buu being killed?

Anyways, I would be covering episodes that are currently airing..but I can't be bothered to do so. Nor do I feel like reviving horrible memories of Season 3, which is currently airing, by watching those episodes. Me and Brinstar caught it the other day and were just laughing while being disgusted with how it turned out.

About season 3... aren't they using the opening theme that starts with the Android Saga or something? I mean, it has Future Trunks in it, and he, Vegeta, and Goku are all seen Super Saiyan. Although, it does show old shots, such as Nappa breaking through that plane. I dunno, I don't quite get that.

Anyways, it's a nice, nostalgic stroll through memory lane to see these old episodes. FUNI's VA are first getting used to their roles and everything. And BTW, this is the Frieza voice I think best suited his final form, when it was simply first-form Frieza's voice with some sort of computerized-deep voice.

But I suppose this isn't a review thread, so I won't be coming here to post about Season 3 often.

The theme Season 3 uses is "Rock the Dragon," which featured snips from CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA, the first three movies, and random episodes. As for which CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA opening animation, I'd say it's the third one, which takes place when the Artificial Humans have begun to attack. The opening for that season came from the first two seasons dubbed by FUNimation teamed with Saban and the vocals provided by Ocean Studios.

Personally, I hated the voices of Season 3 the most. They tried imitating the previous actors and didn't even come close. Freeza was still just as bad sounding, especially with the undertone dialogue he was given. :\ It simply would have been easier to just attempt making the show close to the Japanese version since consistancy between the first two seasons and the third one wasn't even very much there.

I'd have much prefered a male doing Freeza's voice. :( Ah well, at least there's the Mexican Spanish dub.

Well, that's exactly what people are worrying is going to happen with the Pokemon dub. XD

Yeah, but at least he sounds a heck of a lot more serious and dangerous rather than keeping that high-pitched voice the whole way through.

HO. LY. CRAP.

I just watched my first episode of season 3 in years, and I want to die after hearing Kelly Dale. He overacted every last one of his lines. This episode also brought me back to the time where FUNi liked to use Baseball puns when referring to energy blasts.

"Then, Frieza stepped up to the plate one more time, and it looked like he was about to hit one out of the park! What's this? It's going, going, going, oh! Right at the fence, it's Goku with the catch! You're outta there! Way to go, Goku!"

Shut up, Kelly.

Probably the worst of his lines was "Oh yeah, Krillin's in da house!" x_X

Aww... Crap.
I watched a Tivo'd season 3 episode last night:

Yamcha: No way! That's Wack!

Holy crap... that was hillarious.

Anyways... I guess I'm the only one who kinda liked GT... eh?

It had it's good points. The problem for most people, I think, is that its bad points far outweighed those. :/

Anyway, it seemed a rather sloppy animation team did all or most of last night's episode. Frieza's lips were drawn twice as large as normal in many of the shots. o_O

And about that narrator... it's kinda hard to pay attention to what he's saying with that deep-as-hell voice I almost forgot he had. XD Seriously, I don't remember anyone in my entire life ever being able to make a voice that deep.

Well, I finally get to watch the 'Frieza kills Piccolo and Krillin, causing Goku to go Super Saiyan' episode again. Kinda suckier than when I last watched it; and EE, I totally agree about the trigger line by Frieza--what were they thinking?! They could've had Frieza just say that Goku's son was next(it'd match the lip flaps alright), but NO.

Okay, mini-rant over.:p

Piccolo wasn't killed. :p He was just nearly killed.

And the Super Saiyan transformation scene = nowhere near as creepy as the original. You had some villainous type of music playing in the back, Goku somewhat grunting as his neck snapped up and down and then his scream had the Oozaru roar played along with his own. No where near as cool in the original. :s

Wait... I can't tell if you're saying you liked the original SS scene more or not. o_O Probably yes, but just making sure?

I mean, I dunno. I liked the dub scene. Sure it was creepy, but I think that's what they were going for... and I'm happy with it. It just amplifies the fact that Frieza caused so much damage that he's crossed the line, and now Goku's ****** off, and he's going all the way.

Original > Dub. :p That's what I was implying.

Well duh but i;ve never seen the original i presumed that they started showing the edited version because i would think Frieza would've swore by now.Hearing Ape Vegeta say "Damn It!" aroused me. XD

For me, the best scenes involving the first transformations into Super Saiyans were between Goku and Trunks (via "The History of Trunks" special). The music (particularly in the original) was very gripping and the emotions ran thick. Goku lost his best friend and Trunks lost his mentor...both pretty traumatic, wouldn't you say? Well, whether it was heard in English or Japanese really made a difference. I do wonder how Goku's scene would have been handled in the present in comparison to the first attempt at it.

Watch the last episode of Dragon Ball GT. FUNimation felt they needed to "redo" scenes with voices. There's a scene featuring Goku's Super Saiyan transformation. It's about the same thing as Season 3's.
