Dual Type Gym Leaders. Would you approve?

Ah I don't know about that, not all Pokemon players are older so it will be harder for the little kids. I don't think it's right to do that to little kids either. Plus, I don't want more weaknesses for my Electabuzz. ;)

"Too hard for little kids"? Really? This new generation managed to get through HG/SS like we managed to get through G/S/C at their age (hell, R/B/Y because, ooh I don't know, not many people had guides and had to learn the game on their own). And I felt the B/W gym leaders were pretty difficult if one wasn't prepared.

A dual-tye gym could be interesting as a form of Yin-Yang-ish sort of way. I suppose technically we already got that with Blue, and some of the gym leaders when you rebattle them (HG/SS anyway) have Pokémon that are a bit different from their normal team. It could give the developers an excuse to make another pair of twin gym leaders to do just that (or hell, triplets--Cilan, Chili and Cress I don't think count, and even then you only fight one of them). I wouldn't know how the mechanics of it would work, whether one type would make up for the other type's weaknesses, or if two types can actually work together or something, but I think it would be a neat inclusion.

I would dissaprove. One of the most prominent things about gym leaders is that they specialize in one type. That's what they base their gym's theme, gym's puzzle, and team strategy around. Heck, even the whole name thing with the gym leaders would be ruined. So yeah, I think it'd be pointless because it would kinda ruin the point of gym leaders.

I dont think i would approve of dual typed gyms. I like the idea of a gym leader being a specialist in one type and their appearance reflecting that. But one idea i could see working is having a gym double battle with two characters like a couple or something and you battle both at once but they each specialise in a different type. I could see that as a one of but of than that NO.

I love this idea.
I agree that the gyms have gotten easier, and it's not just because some of us get better at Pomeon...Look at R/B/Y, I personally feel those were some of the hardest games because of the level jump between Erika and Koga. Moreover the Elite Four has another level jump. So I don't feel the difficulty is a reason for or against it.

Moreover, single typed gyms will either go for or against you depending on your types. Ex, got grass/electric types, Marlon's a joke. Got rock/fire types? Not the case. Adding a second possible type that leaders have would actually make their difficulty more balanced (in my opinion)

The Tate/Liza model everyone's talking about is cool too. A double gym, one leader with fire, one with ice? Sounds ballin. Remindes me of Twinrova from Ocarina of Time.

Case in point: I'm definatly for it.

I'd personally love the idea of dual typed gyms. Maybe they could do something like Tate/Liza and instead of both leaders having the same type, they each have types that make up for the other one's weaknesses.

I wouldn't approve of this.

Two things going on at once is generally a bad idea.

What I DO approve of is Stat Based Gyms. And let the Sinnoh Stat Partners be Gym Leaders.

Perhaps in the main game, gym leaders could remain as a single type and after the game when you return to them, they could pair up with other gym leaders like in the PWT?

I wouldn't like that. I like that they specialize on one type. Doesn't stop them from having one or two Pokémon outside their type, like Volkners Octillery or Sabrina's Venomoth.

I'd love to see a Dark/Fairy Gym. It'll be interesting to see evilness and holiness combined together like a yin-yang of sorts.

Actually, I don't think Fairy is associated with holiness. Also, it might not be the right time to classify fairies as good/holy, given that we've only seen 10.

I'm agreeing with it, yet I'm disagreeing with it too. Gym leaders are meant to specialize in one type, but I guess you could always try something new.

It would only make sense, if and only if, they were logically implemented. The double battles with Tate and Liza made sense because the new double battles were put into the game. The only time I think they would do this is if they created two new types that are opposite of each other.

In my opinion since there is 18 types the Gym leaders should remain single typed and the Elite 4 should become Dual typed leaving only 2 types not represented which can be easily fixed by a side quest (Ex: Steven in Emerald) or by the champion having a set type or a 3:3 style team

Gym Leaders that specialize in two types would be interesting if they decided to do that so I would approve, but specializing in one type is fine enough.

Depends if the types actually work like using rock/steel/earth a combo out of two of those together. It does though mean one Pokemon will have a x4 weakness to a certain type so I can only seeing it working with dual types that don't lead to this. I'm more than willing if they say did a rock/steel duel type with tow Pokemon on their team and had two other each of them being a rock and steel type Pokemon so as not to make it to easy to beat. They can try it out with one gym leader and see if it works.

My wife and I have always wanted a dual type gym. It's something we've actually discussed in fanfics. Just like how as a trainer, you are occasionally challenged to double battles, we thought it would be interesting if they had some double battle gym leaders aside from Tate & Liza. The combinations don't need to be uber difficult, just as long as they make the gym fun and enjoyable.

For instance, if my wife and I had a gym, we would open an ice/dragon gym. She's always favored dragon type pokemon, and I've always favored water/ice types. Other such ideas which I think would be extremely interesting would be an Evolution gym. All the trainers could specialize in evolution stone pokemon and the gym leader(s) could actually have a team of Eeveelutions.

The primary purpose of the game is to be fun, so if they did incorporate something like this, I would hope they would do it in a way that kept the game enjoyable for all ages.
