Dumb luck catching Latias (this happen to anybody else?)

OK, i'd just beat my Sapphire, and i had to go take the red orb back to Mt. Pyre. So, i was surfing from the Lilycove side around the back of the mountain, and i was beside the mountain, i got in a wild Pokemon battle. i just thought, "C'mon, im tring to do something here, leave me alone!". i go into the battle, just expecting to kick its head off with my Blaziken. I went in the battle, and it was LATIAS! I was just like, "...Holy Crap!" So i just throw my Master Ball, and caught her without even meaning to! Did this happen to anyone else?

no coz lati@a are not supposed to be realeased into the wild before the league is killed!!! After the league ur mom tells u there is a wierd pink thing flying all over hoenn and that is the time when it gets released!!!

Yeah, I think he/she mentioned that already. By "beating" the game, it probably means (s)he also beat the Elite Four as well. XP
So yeah. It happened to me also (sorta), except I didn't have my Masterball with me, so it ran away, and I had to use the ol' Route 117 trick. >3<

Yes that happened to me before. I was in Mauville and I wanted to check how my berries were doing. So I made my way towards the Berry Master's house and I get into a battle and so happened to come upon Latios. Good thing I had my Masterball.

No, I had to get Latias from JAA to see the darn thing in my Sapphire & Emerald >_>

Happened to me when i was going in to the grass before you reach fortree city and i was trying to find a tropius and latios popped up

I have a whole strategy on catching the thing no what happen to you didn't happen to me I had no master ball.I just ran into mauville and out until latias was in my route(I had saw and was in me pokedex)then used blazekick it ran so I damaged it(kept running in and out and kept finding it) once it was down to red I used wobbufetts(prevents escape) and throw ultra balls like crazy XD

sorry, should of cleared that up, to me, beating Elite 4 is beating the game, legends and breeding pokemon to me is just a reward for winning.

btw, im a guy, and whats the route 117 trick?

The Route 117 trick is this (copy and pasted from another thread):

(NOTE: MAKE SURE TO BRING A WOBBUFET AROUND THE LEVELS 29-40 WITH MIRROR COAT JUST IN CASE)
Or you can just buy 5-10 Max Repels, go to Route 117 (the one with the PKMN Daycare), go inside the building, save your game there, back outside again and check your Pokedex to see if Latias/Latios is there. If not, then go back in the Daycare, outside again, check Pokedex, etc. If you check your Pokedex and Latias/Latios is where you are, then use one of your Max Repels, run around the grass for a while, and Latias/Latios should appear soon. Effective and easy. And like Av0idTheL1ght said, if you do run out of Max Repels, restart your game.

just like i said except I run in and out of the city lol but i did find latias unexpectdly the first time I was just trying to find a trapinch in the sandstorm area and there goes latias popping up as I get into a battle.

I once was at the place above Mt.Pierre to train, then a wild pokémon appeard. I thougt "I`m busy, I`ll kick his a*s off!" then the message said it was Latios! I was like; WTF!! *quick gets his Master Ball and catches it*

I one time encountered Latias, and wasn't prepared. I caught it with a great ball, I was prepared then. But I had to keep my Wobbuffet in battle to catch it.

I was gonna go get a water stone and somewhere when i was about to dive,Latias comes but it runs away X_x
