You know that pokemon called Dusparce, that thing that looks like half-snake half-bug?

I still cannot believe that it's a normal-type pokemon. It should be a ground-type and a bug-type atleast.

Well,it has wings.Shouldn't it be a flying type,too? And I don't think he looks like a bug.

First of all, it's spelt Dunsparce and what would lead you to believe its a ground type? IT'S YELLOW!

Sandshrew and Numel resent that remark.

I always though Dunsparace was either pure bug or pure ground. In fact, I only recently remembered it was pure normal (which is odd, you'd think they'd put more creativity into their typings, especially for something mildly complicated like Dunsparace).

Dunsparce has to be one of the wierdest most random pokemon ever, you think the people at Nintendo just sat down one day and said:
"Hey, lets make the most retarded pokemon ever and put it in the actual games!"

Don't Double-Post, and Dunsparce owns your fecking life >.>

Anywhays, I think the Normal types suits Dunsparce well. Though it's a snake, it surely doesn't look poisonous. Snakes aren't Bugs, and I can see the Dragon in it, but not enough to make it an actual Dragon type. Ground I could see, though. It's known for digging underground, and it even has that drill on its tail.

It does learn quite a few Rock attacks, but Normal is the best because it can't really be categorized under any type. Why not make it neutral?

How can a fictional cartoon character own someones life? You need to get a life before you start telling other people that made up characters own theirs.

Yay for SPAM! =D

How can a fictional character own someone's life? Well, it can't, but if you had some sense in you, you'd know that I wasn't being literal when saying that.

Though in your case, we may have to make an expection D: And real original with the "get a life" response >.>

It's not just a 'weird random pokémon'. Dunsparce is based off the Tsuchinoko, a snake that originates from a japanese myth which tells of people who have witnessed a snake-like creature with a body larger than it's head.
I'm sure this must have been brought up in the 'What pokémon are based on' thread that's like, stickied at the top of the page.

Am I the only one who doesn't get why so many people thought Dunsparce was a bug type? What's so buggy about it?
Though I can understand why a few may have thought of it as part ground. Land Snake, the fact that it burrows using it's tail and it's habitat of dark underground caves sound like the description of a ground-ling.

From Wikipedia:
# The tsuchinoko carries venom similar to that of a viper.
# Some tsuchinoko have been known to speak human language, but they often lie.
# The tsuchinoko enjoy alcohol.

Sounds perfectly "normal" to me ;)

Seriously though - Dunsparce's dex entries mention alot about burrowing under the ground, making nests deep under the ground, and even hovering above it. Therefore I've always been suprised that it's a single type normal poke. Suprised, but not that bothered. :)

I think it's the least pleasant pokemon to look at. It looks like some kind of funfair dodgem. That's just my personal opinion though so no flames please Dunsparce lovers! Noone pwns my life ;)

snake =/= bug.

enough said. lol

But Dunsparce is a really cool Pokemon. It's unique, and that movepool can't be beat. XD I mean, come on, Serene Grace with moves like Ancient Power/Headbutt/Body Slam/Rock Slide etc. is just too cool imo. lol :D

I's really like it. :<

Blatant idiotic generalisations to the extreme ;___;
Am I the only one who doesn't get why so many people thought Dunsparce was a bug type? What's so buggy about it?
Those things on it's lower jaw look like mouthparts. Infact, I originally thought that, and for a very long time.
Now, however, I think those things are hollow petrusions that Dunsparce's fangs slot into, because they wouldn't fit otherwise without puncturing it's mandible.
As for Dunsparce's wings; they must be like hummmingbird's wings. They flap rapidly, allowing it to hover lightly a few inches above ground level. And that drill on it's tail is either for borrowing, or for stabbing prey.

Anyone remember the BugBoy in Pokemon Stadium 2 who had a Dunsparce in his team of bugs? That may mean something. Dunsparce's appearence and place in the Pokedex made everyone think it evolved into Gligar. Everytime I see Dunsparce I think of my sister.
