*note: Sorry for any bad spelling in the title.

I'd like to know how the IV's are inherited by breeding pokémon.
It's cause I can't seem to get my Sp Attack and Speed from my staryu to his kid. All it transfers is the Attack stat of the Ditto i'm breeding with..

Greetings,
Tim

It might only be inherited from the father, and Staryu's genderless. I don't know!?!?

There's one thing I'm pretty sure about, and that's that it usually inherits 3. At least, al my bagons did.

However, does it randomly choose the parent and the stats, or does it always have a set stat for each parent?

EDIT: I'm sorry, I forgot to say it inherits the Sp Attack from staryu sometimes. But then the other stats are usually rubbish...

IVs are only inherited from the mother, IIRC, and since Starmie is genderless, it can't be the mother and thus can't pass on IVs.

When breeding it inherits 3 random stats from a randomly chosen parent. Just keep breeding until you get lucky.

Ahh.. Golden Egg, thank you very much :) (and the rest too ;-)).

One wee little question though..
Will it inherit all 3 stats from the same parent? Or could it like inherit 2 from one and the other IV from the other parent.

Thank you very much, the clearest answers I've seen around here in a while :p

It seems that usually a female receives IVs from the father and a male receives IVs from the mother. However, either gender can inherit from either parent, I've observed.

when breeding for IVs, I usually replace with an offspring has more flawless IVs to increase the chances for more desireable IVs. That's how I got from a male roselia with quadruple flawless to a blissey that inherited hp/defense/sp.def flawless IVs from its parents.

Back I guess??
It´s not from just one parent, it´s 1 from the mother/father and 2 from the father/mother, but never 3 from the mother or 3 from the father.

Eg.

You have one blissey and one roselia in the day care.
The baby chansey will recive 2 stats from blissey, 1 from roselia and the other 3 are random OR 1 stat from Blissey, 2 from Roselia and the other 3 random

^Example from Nintendo Oficial Magazine.
