I don't know how long it's been since mother 3 came out in Japan, but does anyone know if/when it'll come out in the U.S.? And if you have any idea about the release date or lack thereof of the mother1/2 game in America, I'd appreciate it.
I tried going to starman.net, but I ended up at a Romanian bookstore somewhere outside of Prague. Go figure.

I say they won't come over because Earthbound was a commercial failure. They're not going to try that again.

I'd love to see it get a release. just a rumour right now though. I love RPGs. My favourite type of game. They seemed to have something back then about not releasing most RPGs outside Japan. FFII (not IV) FFIII (Not VI) which is yet to be released, I would like close to the original graphics personally though not 3D. At least its getting released. FFV, Dragon Quest 5+6. More to mention but those are my mains that I'd have liked to see released from the beggining. It'd be nice to see a Dragon Quest compilation too.

However, this seems to be slowly ending with the release of all of the Final Fantasy games. III being the last. Tales of Phantasia. So with releases like these it wouldn't suprise me if their planning to release Earthbound. I just hope so.

I absolutely love the Mother seires, and I have already sworn to go running through my town screaming "hallelujauh" at the top of my lungs when Mother 3 is announced to be localized. Having all three Mother games in one package would be awesome beyond comprehension.

The Virtual Console doesn't have GBA games on it, so Mother 3 won't be on it. The original Mother and Earthbound will probably be on it, though.

They haven't released any Fire Emblem games before the GBA one in America. I can see the same thing happening to Mother.

Times have changed. The internet is around, and now word can spread if the game is good. People back in the mid-90's were pretty ignorant towards good RPG's since it was difficult to know what was good, and because a lot of gamers were too young to know what an RPG was. It's even difficult to find some games that sold WELL at this point, like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG.

I hope Nintendo knows that the way things are today, if it's a good game, it'll sell.

Well, I have enver had a chance to play these gasmes because Earthbound was never released in the UK.

I hope that they do release a compilation because I want to play on this game badly, and I love RPG's.

They do, actually. The emulated and translated version of Mother is called Earthbound 0. At least, I think it is...

Not exactly. Mother 1 was originally called Earth Bound. The people who copied the prototype dubbed it Earthbound Zero because of the Earthbound that was already out on SNES. If Nintendo called Mother 1 Earthbound Zero on the Virtual Console, that would be bad, something about acknowledging the emulators or something.

And I shell do the same. So...there's nothing confirmed yet? Oh well.
And I think Earthbound is just an American name. I mean, if you went to Japan, you'd be hard-pressed to find a copy of our "Earthbound" not called "Mother II". But I might be (and probably am) wrong.

I love it, it's a classic. Maybe Mother 3 will be released, but it would be something like this:
Earthbound/MOTHER 2 to the virtual console on the Wii, which would encourage Nintendo to release it out of Japan...

I played the Earthbound rom once, but stopped five minutes into the game because it's annoying controlling console games with a keyboard.
