Echoes of Remnant | A RWBY RP [M]

Minteh

It's so shiny!
THE WORLD

According to legend, mankind was born from dust into a hostile world. Humanity was created by two god brothers, the gods of Light and Darkness, who lived alongside us before mysteriously vanishing, leaving the world as a mere remnant of what it once was. The reasons why they left is unknown to most, as the history of that time has long since been forgotten, with recollections being passed down in the form of myths and legends. One such legend tells of extraordinarily powerful warriors with silver eyes were feared by the Grimm and could strike down their foes with a single look.

In the world of Remnant, all living creatures possess a soul, the physical manifestation of which is known as Aura: a form of innate energy that bestows its user with certain abilities and powers. Unique expressions of these abilities which are specific to individuals are known as Semblances. Remnant is populated by two intelligent species - Humanity and Faunus, a race of Human-animal hybrids. For as long as can be remembered, humanity has been preyed on by the creatures of Grimm, beings of darkness who lack a soul (and by extension Aura), and who seek to wipe us out. For years we struggled to hold back the numbers of Grimm until we discovered a power that would help them combat the forces of darkness. Humanity would name their newly discovered power, Dust, after that from which they were formed. Armed with Dust, described as "Nature's Wrath", mankind was able to turn the tide against the Grimm.

With humanity finally able to take a stand against the Grimm, mankind was able to build a civilization and spread throughout the world. The mining of Dust would continue to be a major industry, leading to the rise of large enterprises.

However, having survived the Grimm menace, Humanity began to turn against itself, spiralling into a series of self-destructive conflicts. The largest of these was the Great War, fought over issues of individualism and self-expression. Conflict also arose between the Humans and the subjugated Faunus, eventually sparking the Faunus Rights Revolution.

In the current day, most people live within the four Kingdoms - Vale, Mistral, Atlas and Vacuo. Through a combination of Human tenacity and the use of natural barriers, these settlements managed to survive and are regarded as "safe havens" and "beacons of hope" for Humanity. Small villages and nomadic communities do exist outside of the territories of the main Kingdoms, though they are noted as being far more vulnerable to Grimm attacks. This serves to emphasize that Remnant is not a particularly welcoming world to Humans and Faunus.

Following the Great War, Huntsman Academies, such as Beacon Academy, were created to train Huntsmen and Huntresses, warriors whose sole purpose was to combat the Grimm using a combination of powerful weapons, Aura and Dust. In doing so, they protect those who cannot protect themselves from the dangers of Remnant.

THE RP

And that is where you come in! In this RP, you will be playing as students at Haven Academy, one of the schools created with the purpose of training the future generation of Huntsmen and Huntresses.

Some knowledge of the show would be recommended to understand what is going on, but as this RP takes place at least 40 years before the show, it isn’t necessary to be up to date with what is going on.

You are currently returning for your second year at the academy and will be rejoining your teammates and classmates for the school year. The year prior you were sorted into a team of four, having gone through an initiation ceremony, so will likely be friends with anyone on your team. The purpose of teams is to teach teamwork and empathy and to forge lasting bonds between members. Teams stay together for the four-year duration of their training at their Academy.

Now that you are in your second year, you and your team will finally be able to take on higher-risk missions, alongside your standard learning syllabus. The story of this RP will follow two teams as they complete missions, not knowing they are about to uncover something huge.

THINGS TO KNOW
Aura & Semblances - Aura is the manifestation of one's soul, and can be used for a wide range of abilities. The specific abilities and their strengths differ from individual to individual and are dependent on a number of factors, such as experience, training, and innate skill. Skilled users of Aura can create their own barriers or even increase their own abilities in some way. Weapons and armour can also act as a conduit for Aura, allowing for an even wider range of offensive and defensive capabilities. Aura is a necessary energy source for all Huntsmen, being a powerful ally in battle. It can be used in the following techniques: Defense, Offense, Healing, Extrasensory Perception, and Climate protection.

When in use, Aura appears as a light glow around the body and takes on the colour of one’s inner energy. When struck hard enough, one’s aura will flare around that area of the body. Continual usage of Aura, will eventually drain it, and when depleted leaves you vulnerable for serious damage. When close to breaking, Aura will appear to flicker across the body, and when it does eventually break, will flicker once before disappearing, scattering like dust in the air.

A semblance is an Aura depleting power or ability unique to one's appearance and characteristics, thus meaning no one person, in the world of Remnant, will have the exact same power unless you are of the same bloodline, though it is possible for people to have semblances of similar nature. Obtaining a semblance means discovering an aura and either going through a trial of mental, physical, and emotional state or through genetics and bloodline. Using one's unique semblance will deplete one's life force, or aura, meaning it becomes harder and harder to use after every time. Of course, one's aura can be regenerated with food and rest.

Not everyone training to be a huntsman or huntress is in possession of a semblance, though it is expected that they have unlocked their Aura prior to training.

Allusion - Whilst not acknowledged in-universe, all characters have an allusion. Most allusions in the show are related to Fairy Tales, but they can also branch out to historical and mythological figures. These allusions can tie into character backstories or plot events that will happen to them in the future.

Dust - Dust is known as a naturally occurring, crystallized energy propellant triggered by the Aura of Humans and Faunus. Dust can be found in two distinct states, crystalline and powdered. Dust, whether crystalline or powdered, is highly explosive. Dust serves as a power source for the majority of technology in Remnant, from airships to androids, though some alternative technologies do exist. Technology powered by dust is said to glow. The discovery of Dust was instrumental to humanity's initial defeat of the Grimm, and Dust continues to be used extensively in combat. Methods of using raw Dust include weaving it into clothing, fusing Dust with oneself, forging a blade imbued with Dust and inserting Dust crystals or powder into one's weapon. Dust comes in a variety of types, the most common being the following: Fire, Electric, Combustion, Ice, Gravity, Hard-Light, Plant, Rock, Steam, Water, and Wind.

Colour Naming Rule - The Color Naming Rule is a set of guidelines that define how characters in the world of RWBY are named. The rules state that the names of characters in RWBY must live up to at least one of the following requirements: be a colour, sound like a colour, mean a colour, or makes people think of a colour.

Faunus - Faunus are one of two sentient races on Remnant alongside Humans. Faunus are similar to Humans, except for the fact that they share certain traits with animals. Some types of Faunus are more common than others, with some being extremely rare. Faunus with mammalian traits, in general, seem to be quite common. Faunus can only have one single physical trait in common with their animal.

The entirety of this RP takes place in Mistral, but for reference in posts, as well as your characters’ backstories, you may wish to familiarise yourself with all of the four kingdoms.

Vale is one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant, located on the eastern end of the continent of Sanus, to the east of Vacuo and is considered a safe haven from the Grimm. Like the other three kingdoms, Vale is governed by a ruling council to represent and see to its people's needs. Vale is a very temperate region and has varied geographic regions.

Its capital is Vale.

Vale is inspired by European cultures.

Mistral is one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant, located on Anima, the far eastern continent of the world. Like the rest of the kingdoms, it is governed by a ruling council. Mistral Mistral controls the most territory of all four Kingdoms, encompassing a wide range of ecosystems and many diverse cultures.

Its capital is Mistral.

Mistral is inspired by Eastern cultures, Greece, and the Roman empire.

Vacuo is one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant, located on the western end of the continent of Sanus, to the west of Vale.

Vacuo is located in the centre of a desert, and as such living conditions in this kingdom are harsh and often inhospitable. Vacuo has very few permanent settlements. Most villages are nomadic and are named after the tribe that originally settled them.

Its capital is Shade.

Atlas, formerly known as Mantle, is one of the four Kingdoms of Remnant. It is located in Solitas, the far northern continent of Remnant.

The Huntsman Academy of Atlas is known as Atlas Academy. Unlike most Kingdoms, Atlas' government, military and the Academy function as a single entity.

Its capital is Atlas.

Atlas is said to take inspiration from America.

  • Please, no bunnying/god-modding without permission. I will allow you to do it to my characters, but only in response to non-violent interactions, and nothing that would seem out of character.
  • Post as often as you can! I know most people have their own thing going on in their personal lives, but this is one of those RPs that is fun if you keep up with it.
  • Swearing is allowed as this is rated 'M, but please don't abuse it. I know some characters will swear, just don't use it as an excuse to have them swear in every sentence.
  • Also, and I can't stress this enough, please make it appear realistic during fight scenes. I know that since there are powers involved, it isn't going to be exactly identical to real life, but don't make it so you character gets punched and is barely affected by it.

Allusion: Athena
Aura colour: Aquamarine

Semblance:
Clarity - Athena’s speed, strength, and overall endurance gets a boost from the calmness of herself. This allows her to deliver stronger hits, move faster and appears to allow her Aura to hold out for longer. It is unclear to even Athena herself whether her semblance impacts her Maiden powers).

Weapon(s):
Panathenaia ~ A single-form Xiphos. A small Dust crystal can be placed in the hilt, for enhanced attacks. Athena has a preference for fire, electric, and ice dust.

Pamboeotia ~ A throwable shield. Has a spiked form for more damage.

Athena is a young woman of slightly above average height, standing at roughly 5’6’’. She is of a healthy weight and possesses a fit and toned body, thanks to her training. Her skin is light brown in tone, and blemish-free save for a healed scar across her right eye. Athena has wavy dark brown - almost black - coloured hair, which she styles in a neat bob that comes to just above her shoulders. She also wears a single-braid to the left of her head. To many people, she is considered plain but pretty, the most striking of her creatures being her aqua blue eyes, which instantly draw the eye to them thanks to their contrast with her darker complexion and hair.

For her combat outfit, Athena wears a sleeveless, high-necked dark blue ruffle dress. It is lighter blue around the neck of the collar. She wears a black leather overskirt at the bottom of her dress, which is finished with a light blue trim. Over the top of this, she wears a black bolero with blue trim and also wears a silver armour corset. Athena covers her legs with blue-black leggings and also wears just below the knee boots with lighter blue trim style in Mistral fashion. Athena also wears a pair of fingerless gloves.

For her casual outfit, Athena wears a high-necked top, much like her dress for her combat outfit. The difference is that it is black, as opposed to dark blue; it is also long-sleeved and exposes her midriff. She pairs this with black trousers and a blue belt, and a faux fur-trimmed jacket. Athena tends to wear a bit of make-up with her casual clothes, primarily a light blue eyeshadow, and neutral lipgloss.

Like all students, Athena wears the typical student uniform when at the Academy.

Personality: Athena is an intelligent, studious young woman, much different from her more rambunctious classmates. She enjoys learning, and expanding her knowledge, and whilst not a perfect student, always seems to do well in lessons. By no means shy, Athena has no qualms about standing up for what she believes is right, and will happily voice her opinion on matters. Despite this, she’s intuitive enough to know when its better to remain silent. She’s not the sort to enforce rules all the time, but she has a certain set of standards she abides by, and won’t hesitate to try and reign her teammates or classmates in if she feels they’re getting out of hand. At times this often seen her dubbed as “mean” or “bossy”, but she means well and is generally well-liked.

As a Maiden, is used to the burden of responsibility, but sometimes struggles to deal with the gravity of what that all means for her. Due to the secretive nature of the Maidens, she cannot open up to many of whom she cares for, as they do not know her secret. As such, she can at times struggle to express how she’s feeling, and will often shrug off her concerns or fears with light-hearted remarks. Although Athena carries a big secret herself, she is not fond of keeping secrets from those she cares about, even if said secrets might hurt them.

History:
Originally born in Vacuo, Athena was raised there for the first five years of her life until the untimely death of her parents, after which she moved to Mistral to live with her godmother, future headmaster, Iolanthe Namar.

The daughter of two huntsmen herself, and raised by a huntress-turned teacher, it was inevitable Athena would latch onto that lifestyle and take an interest in it from a young age. It took many years for Iolanthe to take her seriously, however. Not out of malice, but because her goddaughter had many other future career choices she was interested in, including at various stages: a painter, a doctor, a baker, and a chemist. Eventually, Iolanthe came to see she was truly invested in wanting to become a huntress.

Unlike many trainee huntsmen, Athena did not attend a primary combat school prior to joining Haven Academy. Or at least, did not finish her education there. No, it would seem fate had other things in mind. Not long after Athena was enrolled, the previous Spring Maiden was fatally wounded on a mission, and through a twist of fate, Athena wound up inheriting the powers. Through the efforts of Iolanthe, she was quietly removed out of the school, in order for her safety and protection. Iolanthe continued to train her privately when she could, but she did not truly know how to handle Athena’s newfound powers.

In the end, Athena found herself acquainted with a mysterious friend of Iolanthe’s, named Osmanthus. Though he revealed that he was also known as the “Inquisitor” by some. He was able to teach Athena more about what being a Maiden entailed, the responsibilities and duties she would have now, as well as the dangers. He could not teach her how to truly use her powers but could offer advice, and it was down to Athena to master them on her own over time.

Two years ago, Athena expressed a desire to return to school and wrap up her education to become a fully licensed huntress. Naturally, this was a concern for Iolanthe and Osmanthus, but they eventually consented for her to join Haven Academy, on the condition that she keep her Maiden powers hidden, and engage in at least four hours training outside of normal school hours to continue to hone her Maiden powers. Athena agreed, and shortly after was enrolled to Haven.

Other: - As the Spring Maiden, she has access to a unique range of magical abilities including, levitation, control over the elements, and the ability to create weapons from the elements.

- Other than Iolanthe and a few senior members of Haven staff, no-one knows about her Maiden powers

- Athena identifies as bisexual

- Athena is ambidextrous but favours her left hand

Custom Title
Name: Virilian “Viri” Alizarin.

Age: 18.

Gender: Male.

Species: Faunus, Stingray (Stinger Tail and Gills trait).

Allusion: Bloody Mary.

Height: 5’2 (158.5cm).

Weight: 130lbs (58.9 kgs).

Aura Color: Magenta.

Semblance: Shattered Mirror~ Viri has the ability to manipulate and control glass if supplied such or granted the opportunity within sight. He could make deceptively durable glass armor, as well as projectile weapons and manipulate his movement speed… if only windows were plentiful and the academy staff didn’t condone smashing academy property for the sake of ammunition.

Weapon: Shard~ This spear has two bronze tips and rod made of silvery steel, it is fashioned with a leather sleeve to grip the shaft more efficiently, as well as a crimson cloth wrapped tightly under the head of the spear. This weapon has the capacity to transform, of which, it can become a scoped hunting rifle if need be. The head of the spear becomes a bayonet for the rifle, fastened in with the aforementioned redden cloth. Viri is also not known for using Dust at the moment.

Appearance: Virilian is a short, but well toned young adult. He has unkempt short white hair that usually gets covered by whichever hood he wears. His magenta eyes are very bright, but manage to be unseen in complete darkness. The Faunus wears a black and magenta shirt with a black and violet sleeved, buttoned tailcoat over it, a hood with similar colors to the tailcoat jacket is attached. He wears crimson gloves with leather paddings on them and black pants. He manages to conceal his tail by wrapping it through his belt loops to appear as a fancy belt, his gills also being covered up by his high collar. His pants as well as tailcoat in fact have a hole for his tail for fighting. To finalize his casual outfit, he wears black leather shoes with mulberry colored soles.

His combat outfit consists of a dark brown duster jacket, worn open at the front to reveal a low cut white undershirt. This shirt openly displays his gills. The outfit also contains leather pants, which belt’s hooks are also used to hide his tail. Black combat boots kindly compliment this combat outfit as well. The only accessories for this outfit are steel spaulders, vambraces, and knee guards which add more protection for the light armored outfit of this particular student.

His uniform is the standard Haven Academy set, the top button of the coat is however undone, his small symbol of rebellion with an outfit that isn't too bad.

Personality: Despite his demeanor and clothing assortment, Virilian is actually a very friendly guy. He’s fully capable of working together and maintaining a good relationship with others. However, he displays a frequent and persistent pattern of anger, irritability, arguing, defiance and vindictiveness toward authority figures that aren’t his team leader or friends. He also seemingly is impaired by mental hallucinations and delusions, which although occasionally impairs his fighting ability, it takes a huge strain on his ability to communicate with others outside his team and ally team. He has an adept versatility towards combat, but has trouble holding himself back when fighting sentient opponents, as there have been cases where he’s almost beaten actual people to death. Viri seemingly believes that murder may be a valid option at some given times.

All in all, Virilian is kindly, absolutely loyal, and very outgoing with his friends. However, his inability to respect authority figures and difficulty with interacting with new people, make it hard for newer social encounters. Although innately violent, as well as outwardly brushing it off, this tragic Faunus is a truly mental ill individual. He needs professional help, but believes himself beyond any necessary assistance the academy could give him, truly believing he’s too far gone.

History: Originally raised in an orphanage in Vale, Virilian has little clue of who his true parents are, doesn’t really care either, to be honest. He was the smallest of the bunch, and also the most aggressive due to consistently fighting back if and when he got picked on for his size… as well as for the fact he was a Faunus. But his height mattered more, obviously. Those in charge of the orphanage believed he was a problem child, one that would never be adopted. They were wrong.

Viri was adopted by an older couple, whom so happened to be retired assassins. A much older Viri notes the absurdity of the lack of a background check being involved… or perhaps those in charge knew, and let him go knowingly. Despite being a feisty child, his adopted parents actually doted and adored the child. So much so, they taught him the tricks of the trade. At a very young age, the Faunus learned skullduggery, stealthiness, free running, and the art of murder. His natural ability to breathe underwater as well as having his own innate potent poison made him an even more impressive boon. Although his parents technically had gone straight and were law abiding citizens, Virilian’s career as a freelance assassin was a side income for the family. Although being certainly unorthodox, Viri did not mind this lifestyle. By day, he lived thankful with his caring family, helping out with the mom and pop shop. At night, he killed and got paid.

Eventually, he wanted to broaden his horizons, as well as deepen his own skill set. And he found the best way for that, was to attend one of the Huntsmen academies. It would certainly strengthen his abilities… and he could charge for much higher rates for being a Huntsman. The academy gets a well quality tool for a whole four years, he becomes much more powerful. It’s a win-win.

Haven Academy is… interesting, to say the very least. The teachers are either authoritarian dictators, or at best, weary guidance givers. He’s never gotten along with those with any bit of authority, so it certainly affects his view on the professors. Viri manages to stay out of the Headmaster’s office, but any conversation he holds with a professor is likely to be forgotten about unless something amusing comes up. He finds other students beyond those who he knows, whom he’s friends with, those that he manages to conform to… to be very weird. He’s not the weird one, he swears, it’s these other students he doesn’t know whom are the weird as hell ones. But… but his team. The other team. They’re good. They’re likely the best thing about the school.

Other:

-Apparently bottles the venom from his barbed tail and stashes them away for different uses. On that note, he’s seemingly immune to the effects of his own poison. He built up a tolerance for it by mixing small amounts of it with his drinks ever since he was young, consistently moving up in dosage when it’d have little to no effect on him.

-His hatred towards authority figures stems from the fact of feeling subjectgated to unrealistic standards by the staff of his orphanage, as well as bearing witness to them losing hope in him. At a very young age, he came to realize that those in power will turn their backs on you if you seem to be a lost cause. Being the obscene definition of a lost cause, he takes this as a great offense. This realization at a young age has been nurtured to a deeply rooted outlook that persists today.

-Although Viri has witnessed and experienced a bad childhood and grew up in a very questionable manner as a child assassin, as well as the numerous problems and issues he has, he openly acknowledges that he's a horrible person and doesn't try to justify his actions. The way he sees it… Maybe the teams need someone like him around. To do their dirty work. The bad guy. If they want to make the attempt to try to change him, that’s okay, he’ll try to indulge them at best.

-He appears to have sexual, romantic and emotional attraction towards people regardless of their sex or gender identity. Summarizing such, he’s come to realize he’s Pansexual, but has little to no idea on how to act upon it due to his stunted and severely crippled social skills.

Monster Guy

Fairy type Trainer
I went all in with the fairy tale thing... Let me know if I need to fix something.

Name: Fiona Odette
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Allusion: Swan Lake
Aura colour: White
Species: Swan Faunus (She has white feathered wings growing from her back, which allow her to fly.)

Semblance: Swan Plumage: Fiona's semblance allows her to summon white feathers made from aura that she can manipulate. These are not harmless feathers by any means. They can be razor sharp, and can be used to attack opponents as if they were throwing daggers. They can also be used as a shield to soften the blows of attacks if she creates enough of them. The more she exerts her abilities, the more taxing it is on herself.

Weapon:
A long white rapier. It has a swan's head at the end of the handle. A dust crystal can be placed at the hilt for enhanced attacks. She tends to use Water, Wind, Ice, and Hard Light crystals.

ElLriHY.png
jc0VoLw.png

Appearance: Fiona is a petite, thin woman. She stands at slightly less than 5 feet tall. Her figure is willowy, lacking in curvature. Not that she's a block, rather her curves are just understated. She has a heart shaped face, and her facial features are soft and delicate. She has large, expressive brown eyes that often reflect sadness, framed by long eyelashes. She has a small button nose, and full lips. Her skin is naturally pale, and serves as a contrast with her long, silky, black hair. She usually doesn't wear make-up, and when she does, it's only a small amount that you wouldn't even notice it. Odette has a fragile, delicate beauty that tends to make people admire her for her beauty, or take pity on her. Both reactions embarrass her. Since she is a Swan faunus, she has white feathered wings growing from her back. Her clothes are customized to accommodate them.

Odette generally dresses elegantly, but not too over the top either. She generally prefers to wear white, and other pastel colors. Her casual outfit includes a white to with a lavender ruffle around the neckline. She wears a matching lavender ruffled skirt on the bottom. Her legs are covered by white leggings, and she wears silver flats with ribbons that go around her legs, and are tied up into a bow at her thighs. She acceorizes with feathers mostly. She wears a white feather clip in her hair made from feathers. Silver earrings shaped like feathers hang from her ears, and a silver necklace with several small silver feather charms hangs around her neck.

Her outfit is mostly white. Around her head, she wears a white swan tiara. The swan's head sits on her forehead, and on either side are white wings. She wears a long sleeved white blouse as her top. The sleeves are wide, and there are frilly ruffles under the collar around the chest area. Around her waist, she wears a white sash with lavender feathers hanging off it. On her legs are a pair of white leggings. Her look is completed with a pair of knee high white boots.

During class, she wears the standard Haven Academy Uniform. Exactly as it's supposed to be worn.

Personality: Fiona comes across as being aloof when people first meet her. She is a quiet young woman who doesn't seem to smile very often these days. While she is capable of being polite in conversations, she doesn't speak to others much unless someone engages her first. After being bullied as a child for being "The Ugly Duckling" she's always been a bit reserved. The the things that happened in her life made it worse. She often cried and sulked for a long time. While she got a better handle on her grief now, she never truly got over everything that had happened to her. While she tries to carry herself with grace in public, she still has bouts of depression every so often.

While being slow to trust others at first, beneath her quiet exterior, Fiona is a very kind and gentle soul. She gives to those less fortunate, and is willing to help someone in need. She is sympathetic to the plights of others, and is sweet to all those who stick around long enough to form a relationship with her. She is loyal and affectionate to those she is close to, and would do anything for them if they needed it.

Due to the bullying she experienced as a child, Fiona has a rather low opinion of herself. No matter how much people try to tell her otherwise, she still sees herself as the ugly duckling, and is rather embarrassed when she is given complements. Fiona generally keeps how she is feeling to herself. The last time she spoke up, an innocent man got killed for his trouble. That being said, she does have a hidden violent, angry side that she does her best to keep to herself. She doesn't take kindly to bullies, and evildoers in general. She can also be vicious in a fight.

History: Fiona and her parents lived on a small village in Vale. She lived a fairly simple life on the island with her family. Her mother was a Swan Faunus, and be extension so was her daughter. Growing up was not easy for the young girl. Her face was riddled with blemishes, she was awkward and clumsy, and people found her too thin and pale. She was bullied relentlessly by her peers for her looks, on top of the fact that she was a faunus. She was given the nickname The Ugly Duckling. All of this bullying damaged her self-esteem.

Her parents were both hunters, and they would one day teach their daughter to fight and follow in her footsteps. That changed when she was twelve. A swarm of Nevermore's invaded the Island. In the chaos that ensued, both of the young girl's parents were killed. The bird grimm were eventually all defeated, but the young girl was left parentless. The girl was of course devastated by the loss of her parents, However, she wasn't alone for long. She was taken in by an older man named Sombra Von Rothbart. He was a friend of the Odette family, and was glad to take in their child. Especially because it would give his own daughter someone to play with.

Sombra was kind to her at first. He supported her through all the sadness she was feeling over her parents demise. He put her in ballet classes, as it would be a way to help her be less clumsy, and it would give her something to distract her from the pain. Gradually, Odette's appearance improved as she grew into herself. The blemishes on her skin disappeared and was now smooth and clear. She was also a lot more poised and graceful. By the time she was 16, Odette was no longer the Ugly Duckling. People were in awe of Odette's newfound beauty, but she still remembered how badly people treated her when she was the ugly duckling. Although she kept it to herself, she still held some resentment towards her abusers.

Over time though, Sombra's true colors began to show. As the girl grew older, he took more of an interest in her. He would order her to dance for him and with him, and make unwanted advances torwads her, and then beat her when she refused. He would apologize for it the next day, but the cycle of abuse would continue. At some point, Sombra took her out of school, and kept her as his prisoner and had to do anything he asked. Then there was the matter of Sombra's daughter, Odila. With the exception of her clothing choices, Odila looked exactly like Fiona. She was also a faunus, except her wings were black. She product of an affair Sombra had with Fiona's mother, and the reason why Sombra was so obsessed with her. Fiona and her half sister never spoke to each other.

Fiona wanted to escape, but felt like she couldn't. Where would she go, wander the streets? She had no family, what was she to do? She did however make it a point to sneak out every night while Sombra slept. As long as she made sure to come back before the sun rose, she could enjoy a few hours of freedom every night. It was during one of her nightly escapes that she met a handsome young man named Derek Siegfried. The two were smitten with each other from the moment they laid eyes on each other. He invited her to a party he was having at his home the next night. Fiona happily accepted, thinking maybe this would be her chance at freedom.

Except, at some point, Sombra caught on to what Fiona was doing. He followed her out one night, and caught her with another man. Rather than comfront her right then and there, he concocted another plan.

The night of the party, Fiona arrives, but Derek notices there is something different about her. Her wings were black, and she also was dressed in black. She was also much more foward and flirtatious than she normally was. The prince didn't think too much of it though, believing that she was only excited, and maybe she dyed her wings to go with her outfit. Did faunus' do that? He didn't know. The truth of the matter was that Sombra had sent his daughter in her place. Fiona eventually awoke, and hurried to Derek's house, only to witness Derek and Odila then kissing passionately. The sight of which brings Fiona to tears, as she flees.

Derek only realizes his mistake after catching a glimpse of Fiona in tears. He manages to catch up to her, but also catches Sombra trying to take back Fiona. Derek demands she be released. It isn't long before a fight breaks out between the men. It ended quickly after Sombra pulled out a gun, and shot Derek dead.

At this point, something in Fiona snapped. Sombra had kept her prisoner for far too long. Now he went and killed an innocent man. As Sombra was gloating, Fiona snatched the gun out of his hand, and pointed it at him. Sombra taunted her, saying she would never do it. And then she shot him, multiple times to make sure the man was truly dead.

When everything was said and done, Fiona was horrified with what she did. She felt guilty about killing another person. Even if it was someone who was holding captive, killing was not something good people did. Fiona knew she had to get out of there, she flapped her wings and flew away. She didn't know where she was going to go, or what she was going to do. She just knew she had to leave.

This is how she wound up in Mistral. Far away from her home in Vale, where she could get a fresh start. She also enrolled in the Haven Academy, in an effort to become a Huntress. The Grimm were responsible for killing her parents and putting her into this mess in the first place. She wanted to be sure no one would have to suffer like she did. Her first year was fairly average. Her dance skills helped make her a skilled fighter. She mostly kept to herself during her time there, and didn't really have any friends. She occasionally got teased for being a faunus, but she just ignored it.

Metallic Wonder
dropped the character idea and started anew. This is harder than i thought.

Name
: Violet Croft
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Allusion: Robin Hood
Aura colour: Pink
Semblance: Gravity Manipulation: When Violet uses his semblance, his eyes glow pink and a pink glow surrounds his body, resembling aura yet different enough to notice. Once activated, Violet controls the gravity surrounding himself, and anything he touches, should choose to include so. He can use this ability to effectively fly, by increasing and decreasing his own gravitational pull. He can also use this power to move across any surface, be it vertical, horizontal or anything in between, by matching his pull to the surface in question. Items he imbue with this power will be under his control until he stops it, allowing him to turn smaller objects into deadly projectiles whose trajectory he can remotely control.

Weapon(s): Twin Fangs: Violet's weapons are two hunting knives with pitch black jagged blades. While he fights wielding both blades in close combat most of the time, he can utilize his semblance in order to move and control them from a distance, without needing to be in direct contact with them. They can also transform into two black guns for ranged combat as well. He also carries bullets imbued with dust, giving his guns a variety of side effects. His knives can also be fastened to each other by the hilt, and transform into a stringless bow. By concentrating gravity and giving it physical form through his aura, Violet can make arrows of pure energy. These arrows aren't affected by factors such as the wind or, ironically enough, gravity, and are very accurate.

Appearance: Violet is an averagely tall young man standing at around 5'6". He has a relatively slim physique, and a toned build from all his training both at the academy and the training school before attending. His skin is pale with a light tan, and have little to no blemishes, save from a few subtle scars here and there. His medium long hair is sideswept, covering the right part of his face. His hair is also, to everyones big surprise, violet in color, though his roots are black, hinting at deception. His eyes are light pink in color and, together with his near constant smiling, give him a very friendly appearance. Violet also wears a reffined dust crystal around his neck which allows him to use his semblance for longer periods of time before fatigue.

For his combat clothing, Violet wears a dark pink and black sleeveless hoodded vest zipped down to right under his chest, revealing his toned collarbones and chest. He also dons a pair of black leather pants. On his arms, he wears a pair of fingerless gloves, and bladed bracers for unarmed combat purposes. His boots are black, and have the same kind of armor as his bracers has. His entire outfit is made from light yet sturdy material to give him an edge in both speed and mobility when fighting in close range with or without his knives. Around his waist, he wears a utility belt for minor gadgets and the likes, and his knives' holsters are crossed on his lower back. A personal touch of his is a pair of dark pink shades.

Violet's casual outfits are just that: Casual. Never one to bother with the expensive clothing, he tends to throw on whatever he feels comfortable in that day, and call it a day. He does tend to keep it form-fitting though, as almost all of his shirts and pants are tight and generously frame his build. His go-to casual outfit consists of a very deeply V-necked black T shirt, partially covered by a dark purple hoodie. He wears black, holed skinnyjeans to go with this, and a pair of comfortable black sneackers for easy movement. He occasionally also wears his dark pink shades to this outfit as well.

His school uniform is the standard one but with a few minor modifications: For starters, he keeps the shirt unbuttoned 3 buttons down, because overing up his chest and collarbones are a cardinal sin to him, apparently. He also keeps the sleeves rolled up.

Personality: Violet is the preacher of the three C's: Cool, Calm and Collected. At first, second, third and maybe even fourth glance, it would appear that he doesn't have a single care in the world based on how easygoing he is in most situations. Never one to rush, yet always managing to meet his deadlines, he has mastered the secret art of time management, breaking his aloof act only in very serious, albeit rare, cases. He's learned that life's too short for one to be rushing all the time, he would rather take it slow, and spend just a little more time on those everyday activities and experiences others might take for granted.

While many would assume things from Violet's aloof and easygoing character, mainly that he's a deadbeat without a future, they'd be very very wrong. Violet is an intelligent young man, and while he's more of an "Action speaks more than words" kinda guy, he understands the value in good planning for a better execution. While people often assume he's one failed test fron flunking pretty much everything, he always seems to be one step ahead in terms of his studies, which is also one of the reasons he doesn't feel the need to rush with his academics either. Another reason people assume these things about him is that he doesn't brag or flaunt his intellect. He either wipes the floor with you and invites you for a coffee afterwards, or he lose and learn from it. No moments in life is wasted for Violet.

His easygoing nature also makes Violet pretty easy to get along with. Never one to steal a spotlight, he's open-minded and doesn't judge anyone for things he knows isn't their fault. While he generally gets along well with everyone, he tends to have difficulties keeping up with those energetic over-the-top charismatic protagonist-kind of personalities, and would often comment that they need to relax more.

Speaking of being a hunter though. Violet takes his hunter responsibilities very seriously. Likely the only situation you see a different side of Violet, he gets more to the point, serious and cutthroat when hunting. This is due to his years of formal training with Atlas and their military mindset. He view the creatures of Grimm to be less than nothing, and openly display joy in killing them. He enjoys it juuuust a little too much, in fact, as he often torment, taunt and drag out their deaths for no apparent reason. His reasoning for this is that killing them means some innocent person down the line got saved from that speciffic grimm, and that in itself is a reason to celebrate, while in reality, it's his personal vendetta against the Grimm for what tey did to his family.

Violet is definitely more of a follower than a leader, as while he has no issues taking and carrying out orders, the responsibility of leadership isn't one he would want to take on himself. He's quick to recognize when someone has genuine leadership skills, but can become openly pessimistic if the person in charge isn't cut out for it. At the end of the day though, all Violet wants from his hunter career is to be that person that protects those who can't protect themselves from the bigger threats.

History: Violet was born to a fairly average family residing in the kingdom of Atlas. While his mother and father worked tirelessly to provide for Violet and his siblings, they often struggled to make ends meet. Nevertheless, Violet had a good upbringing, surrounded b a loving family.

While neither his mother or father were huntsmen on their own, Violet always wanted to be one himself, as he had seen the Atlas huntsmen in action one day a creature of Grimm had attacked their city. This, to him would mean sneaking out and watching whenever huntsmen came through the city on their hunts, and casually tagging along, always keeping enough of a distance that he wouldn't be spotted, or so he thought. It wasn't rare for him to get caught, causing one of the huntsmen to bring him back to his family.

Despite wanting to become a huntsman himself, Violet never actually showed any signs of activating his aura, nor developing a semblance. This weighed heavily on him as a child, as his younger sister activated her aura and unlocked her healing abilities relatively young. Feeling a sense of envy towards her, this drove them apart, and their relationship took a hit.

Despite not having what it took to become a hunter, Violet would train vigurously in order to excell at physical combat instead. Semblance or not, he was still quite the skilled fighter in his early teens. Despite that though, he never got accepted into any of the training schools due to never being able to activate his aura. This also weighed heavily on him, and he began distancing himself from others, often to the point where he would lash out at anyone trying to get close to him. While he had heard of some training schools taking in people who hadn't unlocked their aura yet, Atlas' strict rules regarding their schools and academies prohibited this from happening to him, driving him to, at one point, consider running away from home and move to a different place.

It was after one of these irrational trains of thought that he finally took it upon himself to leave. He was old enough now to fend for himself anyway, he was 13 after all. slipping out into the night one night, he would make his way to the train station in a neighbouring town. However, rounds of gnarly howls in the night made him uneasy, and as he walked the forested path, he could always feel the glaring stares of faintly dimmed red eyes from the thicket. The final straw would be when he got startled by a deer running across the path directly in front of him, likely stealing away 3 years of his life with the minor heart attack it caused him. Collecting his senses, Violet decided against the idea and headed home instead.

However, when he got back to his hometown, he would see it was under attack from a flock of Grimm Beowolves. The huge black creatures tore through the town, leaving nobody unchecked, and nobody alive. The local huntsmen did what they could, but would eventuallybe defeated, and forced to retreat from the scene, in order to bring backup. The odd thing was, that no matter how many of the creatures were defeated, more always showed up, seemingly out of nowhere. That was also when he discovered the true culprit: A draconic grimm, circling the town while shrieking and... dripping? Black liquid falling from all over its gigantic body fell to the ground, forming large pools of black fluids. From said pools, more Beowolves would emerge, and pick up where the fallen ones left.

Utterly horrified, Violet managed to find his way home, through clever use of hiding, running, panicing, and generally possibly spending every last ounce of luck he would otherwise have for the rest of his life in that there moment. He made it home, or.. to where home had used to be. The house was rampaged, broken down to the foundation. In the rubble, he could faintly see figures of fallen grimm. Or maybe they were his family. Regardless, he would be completely taken over by grief, panic and self-loathing for leaving in the first place. rummaging through the rubble, he would confirm his suspicions, and find his sisters necklace: A pink raffined dust crystal, given to her by their father to help her in her future training. picking it up, the emotional hit would be short-lasting, as a Beowolf had sniffed him out. Legging it all that he could, Violet managed to get surprisingly far away from the carnage, before the Beowolf leapt forward, tossing him to the ground.

The Beowolf then lunged again, causing Violet to instinctly raise his arms in protection. His sister's necklace then started glowing, and the Beowolf was knocked back upon impact, as if hitting a wall. This was the first time Violet activated his aura. Before lunging again though, the Beowolf was peppered by gunfire from behind Violet. Turning around, he saw the uniforms of the Atlas Huntsman Academy. He was taken to safety while they managed, after a long fight, to take down the Wyvern causing all of this. Recognizing that the kid they saved had nowhere else to go, the academy took him in.

After this incident, Violet would recieve formal academy training at one of the training schools, eventually learning to use his aura without relying on his sisters necklace. Despite this, however, he was very adamant on keeping it. While honing his skills and abilities, Violet would use his previous combat training to help out the smaller towns like his own, ridding them of grimm, or calling in backup way in advance whenever the situation called for it. Protecting people became one of his top priorities, and while he wanted to protect everyone equally, it was the smaller towns that were his priority. Those who couldn't protect themselves, or those far enough out for the academy to not be able to react in time.

When he became of age, he would officially enroll at the Atlas academy, further honing his skills. It wasn't until his second year he got the oppurtunity to travel, as a group of huntsmen from his year would be sent to the Academy of Haven as a token of goodwill, and for them to gain more experience.

Other:
- He has insomnia, and often struggle to sleep.

Name: Aaron Gurei
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Allusion: Loki
Aura colour: Dark Purple
Species: Human

Semblance: Physical Mimicry: Aaron's semblance allows him to create an illusion around himself that causes him to look like someone else. The illusion is nearly perfect, although it doesn't change his voice or mannerisms to match the person he is mimicking. The longer he holds the illusion the more tired he becomes. While this semblance is basically useless in combat, it is great for causing distractions or just simply messing with people.
Weapon(s): Boverk: Aaron's weapon of choice is a staff. This staff is roughly the same height as him. At the top, is a small glass ball( roughly 4 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall). The top of the ball can be separated from the bottom and dust can be poured into it, allowing his attacks to have different effects. The shaft of the staff is rather simple and has no special characteristics. Aaron uses every type of dust but seems to prefer using Ice, Steam, and Gravity.

Appearance: At first glance, with him standing in at 5'8" and being rather thin, Aaron appears to be rather normal until you get a closer look at him. His black hair is long, reaching to about the middle of his back, and is rather messy and stringy. His eyes are a gray-green color with dark bags underneath them, making him appear to be sleep deprived. His skin is rather pale, which makes him look like he is constantly sick. His causal outfit consists of a dark purple long sleeved shirt with a large gray jacket over it, a pair of black pants that are slightly to long for him and as such have the bottom hems frayed, and completing his outfit are a pair of dark purple shoes.

For his combat outfit, he replaces his jacket with a long hooded cloak, and adds a mask, a couple of crossing bandoliers, and a pair of long mismatched gloves. The cloak covers his entire body and is black in color. His mask, however, is more interesting. It appears to be a combination of a plague doctor and a painter's masks. The mask itself has a long protruding beak on the middle and a pair of respirators that stick out from the sides. When his hood is up, these are the only things that can be see sticking out. His gloves are elbow length with his right one being black and his left one being dark purple. The bandoliers hold jars of powdered dust and are worn under the cloak.

For his school uniform, he has made no alterations other than wearing his own jacket over the one that goes with the uniform.

Personality: Aaron's personality is hard to pin down. He can be polite while talking to someone but as soon as they leave, he starts talking about them behind their back. He has what he refers to as a "trickster's spirit". He is calm and is a bit mischievous, manipulative, and is a bit of a compulsive liar. He has a strategic mindset and prefers to think things through completely. He has a bit of a rough manner of speaking and, occasionally, berates his teammates if he believed that they messed up on a mission.

Despite his rough manner of speech and odd appearance, Aaron is a respectful person. While sometimes it doesn't seem like it, he really does care and trust his teammates. He shows respect to everyone, unless they betray or offend him. He doesn't really hold grudges, with one major exception. He prefers to give people a fair fight but isn't above fighting dirty.

History: Aaron was born just outside Vacuo, to a pair of travelling performers. After his birth, him and his parents settled down in a small village on the coast of Solitas. From a young age, Aaron was trained in his family's special sleight of hand tactics. When he went outside, Aaron was viewed as odd and and didn't know many kids his age. Things changed on his tenth birthday.

On that day, he woke up in the middle of the streets of Atlas. He had no idea how or when he got there. Not knowing were to go from here, Aaron began his life on the streets. Most of his time there, he could be found swindling people out of whatever he could get. That was until he met a certain person. This man was a huntsman, his name Aelfric Lightburg.

Aelfric brought Aaron into his home and treated him just like a son. Thing is, Aelfric already had a son, Tomas. At first, the two boys got along well. Just like Tomas, Aaron was brought under Aelfric's wing and began his training to become a huntsman. This lasted until Aaron's seventeenth birthday.

On that night, Aaron snuck out, determined to do something. Little did he know, Tomas had followed him. Aaron, eventually, found his way back to his village, opened a jar of Fire Dust and tossed the contents onto the closest building, setting it ablaze. His job finished, he turned around only to be caught in the angered gaze of Tomas. The angered boy rushed towards Aaron, fist clinched.

The first punch staggered Aaron, allowing Tomas to continue his beating. Then something strange happened. With Tomas coming in for the final blow, Aaron somehow blocked it and started fighting back. After exchanging a few blows, the punches of the two boys collided, causing two bright flashes, one a bright golden yellow, the other dark purple. After this, the boys finally passed out.

Aaron awoke a few hours later, back at Aelfric's home. He, along side Tomas, was brought into a room to discuss what would be done with him. After a few hours, it was finally decided; both boys would continue their huntsman training though at different academies, Tomas was to stay and attend the one in Atlas, while Aaron would be sent to Haven.

Upon arriving there, Aaron was shocked. While he knew that there would be almost noone who knew him or why he was there, he was unsure of how to act around them at first. He eventually opened up and got used to the place.

Other:
He refers to most people by their last names, including his teammates.

Kinda went with an entirely different idea (a little rough too and may need edits). Let me know if it's good and I'll change what needs changing, thanks!

Name: Hitaru Visald
Age: 17 (has a late birthday)
Gender: Female
Allusion: Momotaro
Aura colour: Yellow-orange

Semblance: Hiatru’s semblance is a helper that takes on one of 3 forms; a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant, each with a different ability. The dog fights, biting and scratching at enemies. The monkey can easily climb most any surface and can handle objects. The pheasant can create dazzling lights from its plumage to distract and obscure an enemies vision (also works against allies). Each helper will take up roughly a third of Hitaru’s aura so she must be very careful not to use up all her reserves in a dangerous situation, as well she can only summon one ally at a time.

Weapon(s): Dual fans. Made of durable material, they can withstand projectiles and pack a punch when used properly. Hitaru can also combine them to form a very compact pistol. The ammo resides in the handles of the fans and must be reloaded when switching between weapon forms.

Appearance:
hrnZmJB.png
F5wG2X0.png

Hitaru is an average looking girl of average height. She has tanned skin from working out in fields for most of her childhood which also helped develop her physically fit physique. Her hair is very light blonde from being bleached by the sun and hangs past her shoulders. It’s usually up in a messy ponytail or bun with wild strands hanging in her face, some uneven layers covering her eyes at times. Those eyes are slight and teal blue in color. Her nose and lips look average, nothing of note. She has a complex purple tattoo around her neck that looks like a partial mandala, her friends from home having similar tattoos.

Hitaru’s fashion usually consists of practical and comfortable. She wants to be able to move, so she often wears either mid-length skirts or shorts with tank tops or something without sleeves. She cuts down on excessive accessories or layers, but does enjoy putting in multiple sets of earrings. For battle, she wears a deep purple dress with black tights and black, flexible boots. She has a set of dark purple bracers for her forearms and a black pouch for ammo on a belt around her waist. If she’s battling, she is guaranteed to have her hair up in some way so she always has multiple ponytail bands on her at all times.

Personality: Hitaru is the embodiment of confidence. She is always very sure of herself and her abilities, and always knows when to step down from something she cannot handle. Unfortunately, this can prevent her from improving in areas where she should push her limits and gets stronger. Aware of her boundaries, she has little desire to grow in them and feels comfortable in where she is. That’s not to say she won’t try new things, but she certainly won’t go further than she feels is right for her. In fact, she loves exploring and has a fairly vast imagination, going on pretend adventures all the time when she was little.

Another notable characteristic is Hitaru always seems cheerful and determined. She smiles often and appears peaceful in most situations. Often, she helps people get along and feel relaxed around her. This can lead people to trust her or let their guard down around her if they aren’t especially careful. Despite her limits, Hitaru is also fairly determined in that once she sets her mind to something, she won’t stop until it gets done. It can cause her to stay up until unhealthy hours or do something dangerous to get the results she desires. Though still mostly level-headed and practical, she reaches frighteningly stubborn levels once she decides she needs to get something done.

History: Hitaru was born to a rather elderly couple in Mistral, from a small village outside the capital. They were farmers and part of a tight knit community of other labor workers in town. Hitaru worked hard for her parents and would go on fun, imaginary adventures once the days work was done. On one such adventure, she learned the villagers were being exploited by fraud hunters and huntresses who were taxing the village greatly to protect them from Grimm. She had overheard them boasting of how they fooled the simple folk and made out like bandits. She knew at once she had to do something about it.

Hitaru started helping other families with their work once she was done at the farm. Over time, she started making close friends with the families’ other children. There was a brash, but loyal girl who she befriended first. Then was a clever and humble boy who joined them. Finally, a quick, fierce girl made up their team. At first, the three never got along with each other, but Hitaru’s confidence and harmonious aura got them to cooperate as she told them what she knew. The group began to cook up a plan to foil the crooks.

The band of twelve-year-olds chose a dark night to strike. The quick girl pounded on the door and pulled out a group to distract them, darting around swiftly using a semblance of wind. The clever boy helped them sneak into the back with his lock-picking semblance. There they found two beaten men, people they recognized as part of the group of hard workers in the village. The three kids helped them get up and escape, but they said there were papers that would prove the fake hunters and huntresses guilty so the kids went back in to retrieve them. The brash girl stormed in and started intimidating more of the crooks with her semblance. Meanwhile, the clever boy and Hitaru snuck away with the papers. The quick girl and brash girl were chased off and returned home while Hitaru ran back to her parents to show them the papers. They were astonished and hurt, but they knew exactly what to do. They got a hold of authorities from Mistral who showed up to set things straight and install actual hunters and huntresses to protect the town.

The village celebrated their new protectors and thanked Hitaru’s family for bringing the injustice to light. From then on, their families were all much more well off in funds and happiness. This was also when Hitaru became inspired to become a huntress. Her family saved up for her to attend the academy and though her friends grew up to pursue different paths, they still stay in touch. Hitaru’s first year was somewhat tough. Though she was talented, she struggled to push herself past she was already capable of. Her second year at Haven Academy will truly be a test of how far she is willing to go to become a huntress.

Other:
- Her nicknames include "Peach", "Sunny", and "Lucky" which all originated from her parents. Some friends know of and use them, but it's most just her parents.
- She loves peaches
-Her semblance appeared after the event at her village and her friends noticed the similarities between them and her helpers. They jokingly refer to each other as dog, monkey, and pheasant at times.
