Pokemon Collector
-Pick a team of 6 pokemon.
-Go to an area in your game (R/S/E) that has pokemon giving 2+ types of EV's and raise the team there.
-You can only raise effort in this area.
-Once you're sure that you've maxed out whichever stats you can, then just fill out the rest with random points if necessary.
-You cannot go onto different routes/locations.
-However, you can go into meteor falls and fight lunatone/solrock, then surf and fight Bagon.
Now that you have a team focused in a particular stat, try to use them amongst others in/out of game and see the results.

My examples: A team of Ground-based Hasty pokemon that I'll raise outside of my hometown in Sapphire. They'll all be Fast (zigzagoon) and Healthy (wurmple) with a little bit of attack (poochyenna).
