Okay, I restarted MD. I'm at Mt.Thunder, and am a Pikachu. I used Thundershock on a Stantler and it saidManectric's Ligtingrod took the hit! I didn't even see any! What happened!

well maybe theres was a manectric on the floor with a lightning rod ability even if u didnt see it

I won't give up!
If you use an electric attack on a floor where you can encounter Electrike , Manectric , Rhyhorn , Rhydon , Cubone or Marowak it won't work.

Technically, not just where you encounter them. They have to be on the floor at the time, but it's quite unlikely they wouldn't be, but it's possible. Just stick to different type attacks for those couple floors.
