That's another Eid, which comes approx two months later to this Eid.
I doubt anyone will post in this considering SPPf's Muslim community is very small, but if I were to close this and allow the inevitable annual Christmas thread it would be DISCRIMINATION. Which is bad and crap and stuff, ya know.

Eid Mubarak. I love that I can take a day off of school for Eid.
Eid ul-Fitr ("Festival of the Fast Breaking") is somewhat self explanatory, I guess. It is the day where we celebrate the end of Ramadhan (the 9th month in the Islamic calender; the month of fasting).
I suppose it's the equivalent of Christmas in the way that we celebrate it, but the reasons behind them are different. Though there is a lot of gift giving in them both.
The other Eid mentioned (Eid ul-Adha, "Festival of the Sacrifice") is to commemorate Prohet Abraham/Ibrahim's willingles to sacrifice his son to God (the son didn't die though, a lamb was put in his place and was killed instead).

Not eating or drinking from dawn to dusk*, but that's just detail, really. When it falls is based on the sighting of the moon, so the precise day of Eid can only be confirmed at late notice.
