Emerald to fire red

I was just thinking about starting again on my fire red and was wondering if i would be able to trade pokes over from emerald before i get the saphire/ruby plate on red. Does anyone know?

Not directly from emerald. You can trade kanto pokemon such as abra, staryu and rhyhorn to another fire red or leaf green then trade over to the restarted fire red at least.

no, you need ruby, and sapphire plate. Give them to Celio. Hi will active machne network. After that you can trade pokemons from fire red to hoenn games

yeah, the two above me are right, you have to get the R/S plates first. and you can only get those after you beat the E4. I tried the same thing, and it didn't work... so learn from my mistake, and don't do it.

back when I once restarted leaf green, I managed to get the following level 5 pokemon that were hatched in emerald over to fire red then to the restarted leaf green: abra, staryu, gastly, diglett & aerodactyl

I still needed to use a charmander and a pikachu to help me get past misty at least. I chose charmander since I prefer to go after suicune later in the game.

They all helped get me through the game more quickly.

You can't trade immediately, but at least you can battle with a hoenn game.
