Obviously all "good" owners entertain their pets, it's almost natural that a person would want to tease their cats with string or throw balls for their dogs, but there are some people out there that do not care for their pets and often leave them home all day and all night on occasion..

Today however an article has been written saying that unless you provide entertainment for your pet/s and i quote..
Quote:
Owners will not be fined for breaking the rules but failure to comply may be used in animal cruelty prosecutions.
It's about time the country has decided to make sure animals are well looked after, it irritates me that someone can justify having any pets at all when they spend most of the time working.

My opinion is that people who leave their pets at home alone almost everyday should have their animals taken away unless they can provide entertainment while they are gone.I really hate people who don't socialise with their animals, it's healthy for both human and animal to do so.

Anyhow i shall provide a link for you lovely people so you can read and discuss it amongst yourselves.

Thats interesting but offcourse people will complain it's not fair to them.

Like the millions of unwanted cats/dogs born from unspayed females cause it happened by "accident" Or the cats and dogs that never see a vet ever for shots exams because people think "it's just an animal it can survive anything"
Or when people abandon there pets on the streets because they dont want them anymore or get bored of them. There are no laws really that stop this.

There are so many laws broken each day with animals that not playing with them probably is at the lowest crime if it passed. I do agree though cats and dogs and some parrots DO need stimulation first so they do not become overweight from boredom and for there own sanity.

1-dogs- Pack animals, very social, chase prey to hunt, love to smell things. A dog in a house by itself with no room to run or things to smell/explore goes against all natural instincts it must be horrible for the dog, then it gets bored and chews things and the owners take it out on the dog, really sad.

2-cats- stalk prey spend alot of time hunting just to catch prey, like there own sleeping space, dont need a companion cat but need people and toys if alone, eat grass if they have a stomach ache, have to scratch to remove old claw casings. I have 2 cats, and if I NEVER played with them or gave them a window to look out I think they would go crazy they absoultely crave stimulation. I hate it when people declaw there cats because they scratch, it's ridiculous. Cats have to scratch something it's in there nature and keeps there claws in tip top shape. They need a cat scratcher of some sort to tear up and climb, and if they scratch your furniture try and teach them to scratch the post mabye line it with dry catnip. ;) Also cats are naturally loners except females caring for kittens, make sure your cats have there OWN place to sleep if you have 4 cats get 4 cat beds or have enough room so they have there own space. And unless you want a fat cat they need to have toys and play. The furry mice and catnip toys seem to be favorites, along with pulling a string on the floor or the feather wand toy. Cats love to jump so tossing a toy in the air or placing in on a shelf is good excersise. I also believe cats should have a window to look out, they enjoy looking at birds and sunning themselves. How would you like NEVER smelling or seeing the outside world again, its like jail! And last but not least, cats eating grass is NOT bad and perfectly normal. They will eat grass to throw up if they are sick (like a stomach ache) or if they have a infection like upper respitory where they have alot of phlem. They also eat it if they are a little constipated, fiber (grass) helps going to the bathroom a little easier. And sometimes they just eat it for fun, they even have kits to grow your own grass inside for them, it's worth it my cats get grass every day.

3-parrots- social, like to chew on things must have items to chew or beak could become overgrown, need plenty of stimulation outside of cage if tame.
Parrots basically live in flocks in the wild, so they enjoy and need company either by another parrot or by you. And im not talking 1 hour, i'm talking mabye 3-4 hours at least each day! If you have 1 parrot it will look at you as part of it's "flock" If you never give it attention it will get depressed and mabye stop eating. Thats like being taken away from your family and never having contact with anyone again, not very happy is it? Stimulation is also a must, things to chew on, and plenty of time out of it's cage to stretch it's wings (as long as it cant escape outside) A bored parrot will pluck out it's own feathers, so have lots of chew toys and treats! I HATE when people lock there parrots up in the cage and never take them out. Those parrots are usually stressed and pluck feathers out, parrots who get out and can walk/climb on perches are alot happier.

People always complain, but if they get an animal they are expected to look after it properly, it was kind of one of the rules when they got the pet in the first place.
I hate how most people in this world only think about theirselves, it really bothers me.

This is true although my cats constantly crave attention, they are quater siamese so they are extremely vocal and affectionate. They follow me and my boyfriend around the house and always like to be in the same room as us, which to some people is strange.
To play they often bring clear bottle caps (off bottles of water) or marbles for me to throw for them, and nearly always bring them back, this is why i'm glad i'm not working.

They do go outside during the day also, so they get some fresh air, i don't let them out at night because alot of cats have gone missing recently.
