Why do people even bother EV training since I think its really hard and stupid to do this,I'd rather just train them normally because you don't need to count all the EVs you've done.

People EV-train because it makes their Pokemon stronger and more effective in battle, plus it adds a harder element to the game that older players find more challenging than just playing through normally.

Instead of battling normally and having the EVs split up randomly amongst all the stats, you can choose which stats to max out, and make your Pokemon more powerful in the stats that matter most.

If you think it's stupid, why were you asking about the best places to EV-train in the R/S/E section? >>;;

Back I guess??
I think it´s neither hard or stupid.

hard is beat your pokémon that you EV trained correctly.
so yes, I EV train all my pokés, because have one slaking with with 460 attack stat is hundred times better than one with 330.

1 point more can make you win a battle. (almost sure tht at least 70% of the people that will vote in this pool will mark "yes")

I EV train my one-off pokemon (legendaries and that), but I usually don't bother with the others unless I really like the pokemon.

I say "yes" though I rarely EV-train. There are people who want to be experts, so they EV-train, and there are people who play just for fun, ignoring the EV-training. I belong to the 2nd group.

Yep. There's no way to win in the hax-fest that's the Battle Frontier without them, since your opponent's pokemon are also EV trained. >> Plus, I think it's fun, not "hard" or "stupid".

Ev training isn't hard at all. I Ev train all my pokemon, so I am able to bring the best out of them.

Why not? If you want to have half-decent Pokémon, the only way is EV Training. Plus, being able to emphasize some Stats over others, and having good spreads is vexing.

Pokérus and Macho Brace ease the "hassle" quite nicely to boot.

No need to do so with your in-game Pokés, though. Only those you plan to use against your friends or in the major Battle facilities...

I only asked about places to train because my friend is also EV training and
I have only EV trained 1 pokemon but took me like 2 months! TO do this.

EV training isn't 'hard' or 'challenging' once you read into it a little. Its just that the whole system is brain-meltingly boring.

I haven't EV trained any pokémon thus far. I'd like to do so, but usually I have to force myself to get into it. Which of course involves looking into breeding, natures and breedable techniques. And eventually I just can't be assed with obtaining a perfect drone anymore, and I loose interest.
Gravy is hardly what one would refer to as 'the epitome of patience' you see.

2 months o_O?

mine just take half a day to complete the 510 EV points.

do you use the vitamins? this halfes your EV training.
also you must go to the corect locals (if you didn´t have mixed records with no one), look below:

HP: battle with wismurs in the cave near verdanturf
Attk: shuppets in MT.pyre or carvanhas (fishing)
Defense: geodude/graveler/torkoal in Magma´s hideout (emerald) or sandsherews in spinda rotue (R/S)
S.attack: battle with spindas (slugmas if you have emerald)
S.defense: rotue that you find lotad/lombre/swablu (sapphire/emerald) tentacool in ruby.
Speed: alterning cave in emerald or origin cave in Ruby/Sapphire.

OK! just take a calculator beside you and you´ll have accurate EVs.

the route east of Mauville and West of the Berry Master's is a great place to...

it's full of Zigzagoons, Linoones, Electrike, Manelctric and Wingulls... the only pokemon there that doesn't give Speed EVs are Keckleons, and those are very rare.

I used to EV train in my old file, but since resetting I haven't bothered. None of my creatures are ever going to be battling outside ingame anyway (this is in Ruby so no Battle Frontier to contend with. Heck I've never even been to the Battle Tower). Personally, I find it a lot more fun to just be able to pick up the game, take whatever I want and just train it wherever I feel like it without giving a damn about the mechanics going on behind the scenes.

Having said that, I do still have six fully EV trained Pokémon (Salamence, Houndoom, Armaldo, Suicune, Raikou and Espeon), but only because they were on Colloseum when I restarted. Five out of the six (not Espeon) are some of my favourite Pokémon so I traded them back to cut down time spent raising new ones.

Want to learn a secret to EV training? Battle the Pokémon with Macho Brace attached. Yeah, it already was explained, but how about this; battle Trainer's Pokémon with it attached, especially the Gym Leaders. I've had Pokémon who grew a lvl and have had stat increases by +5 -- +9 by battling higher lvl Trainers.

I'm too lazy to EV train all of them, and it's ingame anyways. xP I EV trained one of my pokemon though.

It depends on the reason to why people play the game. It's no use training your Pokemon with EV's if it's going to make you loose interest in the game faster. My brother will not use EV training because he finds it boring.

Though I do use EV training and find it interesting. I also look for IV's though I enjoy maths when it comes to games. Not many people enjoy maths though. I also know that it gives a chance to find a shiny since you've got to challenge a lot of Pokemon to EV train. I found my shiny Whismir when HP EV training. I even found a shiny tentacool and Grimer during EV training aswell. So I see a few plus sides to this.

It takes me about 2 hours to finish EV training. I've got Pokerus, and it makes a world of difference. I woul;dn't have a shuckle who's going to have 614 Spcl. Deffence without EV training. ANd I wouldn't have 4 symbol's.

I didn't know about EVs first, but after I knew about it I EV trained. In normal gameplay EV train isn't nesscary, but when you battle against human players you need EVs.
For example, two pokemon with the same nature and the same speed stat,if one has 4 speed EVs,then that one will attack first.
HP is also important. For example, leftovers recovers 1/16 of your HP. Now if you had say a 301 base HP, you’d recover 18 HP per turn since it is rounded down. If you add 12 more HP EVs to that stat, you recover 19 HP per turn.

You've got a point there. The thing with this new system is that, while EVs DID exist since RBY, you didn't need to count them, for all Stats could be maxed out. This messed up pretty much everyone. Also, while I don't mind much to EV Train, I can see how it can be boring. A good solution would be to remove the Vitamin cap, or at least raise it to 15/20 Vitamins per Stat. That'd reduce the EV Training time to an estrict minimum.

Another con of this system is that it doesn't allows roles to be exploited. Maybe that was made to prevent stuff like Tyranitar to become even more br0ken, but they allowed Substitute back without a check on learnability, as Reflect did, so...

Still, I think an increase of the cap from 510 to 765 would allow defensive tactics to come back, mixed strategies to brew on again, and would allow balance with 3 maxed Stats out of 6. Still, I doubt it'll be implemented...

I do hope that they increase the Vitamin cap. Also, a bit of proper info on EVs inside the game (At least mildly explained, not with almost undecipherable hints...) would help newbies get the hang of it. Maybe even make it not hidden anymore...

Oh well. I'm rambling now... XD
