Evolve..or not to evolve..

Okay, so I want to raise a Slakoth, but I have a problem.

I dont like for it to rest, then return a few rounds later. Wastes time, IMO. Vigoroth eliminates that problem. But when he evolves into Slaking, the trait is back.

So, should I slap on a Everstone to make the Vigoroth not evolve, or should I just go ahead and evolve it for higher stats?

DEFINATELY make the Vigoroth evolve! (Vigoroth is actually a competitive Pokemon, but Slaking is better).

Why?

Look at this.

HP
Rayquaza 105
Lugia 106
Ho-oh 106
Mewtwo 106
Groudon 106
Kyogre 106
Slaking 150

Slaking's HP is higher than the HP of all those ubers!

Attack

Rayquaza 150
Lugia 90
Ho-oh 130
Mewtwo 110
Groudon 150
Kyogre 100
Slaking 160

Slaking has a higher Attack than all those ubers. This means he will deal more damage than even a Groudon and Rayquaza! Still dont think its good? Its won two categories already against ubers...

Defense

Rayquaza 90
Lugia 130
Ho-oh 90
Mewtwo 90
Groudon 140
Kyogre 90
Slaking 100

Look at that. A Slaking will even last longer than Rayquaza, Ho-oh, Mewtwo and Kyogre. Not only that, but it has a higher HP meaning that it will still last almost as long as a Groudon and Lugia in terms of physical attacks.

Special Attack

Rayquaza 150
Lugia 90
Ho-oh 110
Mewtwo 154
Groudon 100
Kyogre 150
Slaking 95

This is one of Slaking's weaker points. But think about it. If Slaking deals more damage than a Lugia it is surely worth using, even as a Special Attacker. Not to mention its special attack is only base 5 lower than Mew's, Celebi's, Jirachi's, Starmie's, Groudon's, etc.

Special Defense

Rayquaza 90
Lugia 154
Ho-oh 154
Mewtwo 90
Groudon 90
Kyogre 140
Slaking 65

Okay, Slaking's Special Defense does not look that good. Think about it though. It has no special weaknesses at all! None! (and incidentally, only 1 physical weakness). Not to mention, Slaking's higher HP means that he still lasts almost as long Groudon, Mewtwo and Rayquaza at the end of the day.

Speed

Rayquaza 95
Lugia 110
Ho-oh 90
Mewtwo 130
Groudon 90
Kyogre 90
Slaking 100

What does this mean? It means Slaking is faster than Groudon, Kyogre, Ho-oh and even Rayquaza! And if a Lugia has low speed IVs, EVs and a bad nature for speed, you may even be able to outspeed with with your Jolly, Timid, etc. Slaking!

Stat Totals (the biggie)

Rayquaza 680
Lugia 680
Ho-oh 680
Mewtwo 680
Groudon 670
Kyogre 670
Slaking 670

Slaking has the second highest stat total in the game! (=5th highest if you count ties). If Kyogre missed every other turn, would you use it? Slaking is definately worth using. It is one of my favorite Pokemon. And, if youve ever heard of the Skill Swap truant combo, you will knoe why Slaking is considered good. Without Truant, it will be the strongest Pokemon allowed in the Battle Frontier and Tower. WIth Truant, it is still one of the stongest Pokemon.

Yeah, sure, Vigoroth is good and competitive, but when you have a chance to get a Slaking, why miss it?

Cell

Infernal Informality
wait until lv 49 to evolve him (,lv43: focus punch , lv49: reversal)
while slakoth (lv37: swagger , lv43: flail )

If you want a copy of vigoroth, use zangoose

true but he has great stats you pretty much have to kill everything in one hit. i hate his loafing around crap. it is annoying look you got look at if you want to attack every other turn and be stronger or be weaker but can hit every turn,

you choose

Slaking's insane attack stat (second highest of all Pokemon, highest in Ruby, Sapphire, Leaf Green and Emerald) means that he will kill most things in one hit anyways. Not to mention, you can switch when using Slaking.

I use hyper beams with slaking, his missed turn counts as the recharging turn too so its like hes using super powerful attack with stab benefiting from his COLLOSSAL attack that usually equals fainted pokemon

I did that with a choice band and I managed to 1HKO and Aerodactyl. I do prefer using Return and I can switch then, and switching with Slaking is important.

I would say do not evolve it unless your you like duble battles alot because inless you have a pokemon with skill swap out Slaking is an essay ko for pokemon with high defense or the move protect, and if you evolve him and he has no special attacks pokemon with counter defete him essaly.

Slaking's Special Attack sucks, so why would you teach it a Special attack when Return, Earthquake, Shadow Ball, and Focus Punch cover everything?

And if you don't like loafing around, then just switch. :) Slaking is awesome. I spent all morning trying to hatch an Adamant Slakoth with 31 Attack IVs, and I finally got one! :D

Shadow Ball is a Special attack, but I mean if they have all normal attack they could use counter and with Slaking attack counter is deadly.

Slaking is a Ghost type attack, which means that it's a physical attack.

And not much is going to survive a hit from Slaking to use Counter. Choice Banded Return from a max-Attack Slaking OHKOs almost every Pokemon.

Leaving SPPF! G'bye!
Our buddy - Shuckle Man - told you, why you should evolve your pokemon :)
Slaking has really high stats, isn't the prettiest but look isn't important. If I was you I would evolve it.
Um, yeah. He has great stats. But you have to take away half the stats to find how good he is. 1 good attack on two turns are like 2 not so good attacks on two turns. And when he attacks once, the enemy attacks twice, which makes the HP go. Plus, truant must be horrible when its poisoned. Well, if you dont evolve him, you will either have a bothering thing to do ever time he levels up, or have an everstone where you could have had something more useful, like leftovers. But vigoroth has a good ability.
