Evolving Tyrogue...(question)

Okay so I picked Hitmonchan when I beat the gym leader, so I bred Hitmonchan with Ditto to make a Tyrogue, and now I am trying to get Tyrogue to evolve to Hitmonlee.

According to a bunch of sites, Tyrogue's attack > defense at level 20.
He's at level 19 right now and his attack is 20 and defense is 23.

So the question is, how do I get his attack higher than the defense? I gave it a protein to up its attack but it did not change from 20.

Any help appreciated.

Basically, you need more protein. Without getting into EVs, which is a whole 'nother kettle o'fish, the best time to give your Pokemon those vitamins is before they do ANY battling whatsoever. At that point, you can give them up to 10 of each vitamin. You might be able to pump Tyrogue's attack up high enough now if you give it a few more Proteins, but you should have made sure by doing it before he'd been in any battles.

So paying $9800 for one protein isn't even enough to raise it's protein? That is a rip off...I can't even afford more than 1 protein at the moment since I just spent over $100,000 on coins to get Ditto from Game Corner..

Oh well, I'll just go battle some trainers for money. Thanks for the help. :)

edit: oh yeah, I read about the EVs on bulbagarden, and it just confused me...but since I already let it battle I guess I'll just buy some more Proteins

Getting the money to buy several vitamins at once hardly takes any time. Just find some trainers that pay lots (there are a couple of good areas in the Sevii Islands to do this) and battle them, go to the next route, go back, use your VS Seeker, battle them, rinse, repeat.

How about starting to kicking some paras' butts in mt. moon instead? (using that tyrouge, duh)
Otherwise, trading it to emerald to stuff it with kelpsy berries.

For Hitmontop, Attack = Defense.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that you'll have an easier time getting a Hitmonlee if Tyrogue has a nature that raises Attack, such as Adamant, which is the best one because it also lowers Special Attack, which Tyrogue doesn't need anyway.

Thanks for the help, I did use Amulet Coin to get more money, it took 5 protiens to raise the attack 3 points. and by the way, I met Porygon, not Ditto (from Game Corner)

quick off topic question:
I bought my leaf green off ebay so it didnt come with the wireless adapter, is that available to buy seperately in stores like Target and Best Buy?
Or if it's not, is the old link cable (non wireless one) still available in stores?

thanks

Don't waste your money on the Wireless Adaptor, I mean its normally like 15 bucks for the thing that works on only Pokemon games and one Digimon game.

Find a link cable for GBA for 3 dollars like I did, you'll be much more pleased ^_^
