Experiences you had thanks to Pokémon

Yeah, yeah, I beat everyone and made this thread first.

Anywho, this thread is for everyone to go into nostalgia mode and state an experience they've had that involved Pokémon that was memorable.

I think my most memorable experience was by far the TCG leagues I used to attend. I used to take a bus there, which didn't bother me at all. And then I spent all day at the Wizards of the Coast store in the mall, just battling, talking with friends, going out to have lunch with friends, then coming back and battling again... and then after league we'd have big, 8-way tag team matches that took like 2 hours. Yeah, fun times. We got all survivor-ish there, and started making alliances against a person or team, then backstabbed each other when it came time to attack. :D

I remember when I got my first Gameboy, with Pokemon Red. Those weren't very happy times, the game NEVER saved, so I never got past Lt. Surge. And then, someone stole my Gameboy...

Then, when the GBC came out, I got that as a gift with Yellow Version. This time, everything was fine, I even almost had all the pokemon... But, then... My friend saved over my file! I could never get any legendary pokemon again... It didn't matter, because then my GBC was stolen, too...

hooray, it's Jetx!
Pokemon changed my life because I got obsessed with it XD.

And it inspired me for ideas, as I want to be an author in later life.

It sort of inspired me to draw... in fact, without Pokemon, I probably wouldn't be as good an artist as I am today. ;O

It's also taught me a few things about Japanese culture before I even started studying the culture in school.

pokemon came out when i was only 5-6 and since then i copied there voices. but me being male my voice broke so i can do alot but can still do some like pikachu, bulbasaur and typlosion among others. aswell i draw the pokemon and i'm like the ONLY pokemon fan in my whole school which is really depressing. also i have every pokemon game out out for the gameboys and pokemon dash, except i dont have pokemon yellow but i will buy it eventually.

i found something else to add. i've seen every episode (un-banned) out of the kanto, orange island, chronicles and nearly all Johto and Hoenn so thats how much i love it. also i got loads of level 100 on my games but only 2 shinnies a red gyrados on crystal and a blue slowpoke on gold. I WANNA SHINY ON RUBY/EMERALD/FIRE RED. my best games fire red. and im told i prattle on so i'm goin before i start

Aww... Crap.
I've mostly just made friends through Poke'mon, including one of my best friends. I also remember getting my mom to let me throw this really nerdy party, where we just traded cards and battled... looking back on it, it was really, really, really goofy, just because mom decided we needed some "Events" and she try to organize us. God... "Who wants to be a poke'millinare" ... eh. That was horrible... she took trivia stuff off those Burger King cards... it was sad. Though I'd say I'll remember that forever.

And I remember the big poke-thons me, my brother, and my cousin would have just about every weekend, where we would play pokemon... for hours on end. ( I'd say I owe my parents a pretty penny in batteries.) Yeah, but then when we were forced to stop, we would hear the music... constantly.

But I'd say my favorite one is completing my first game. I caught every pokemon and got my Pikachu to LV. 100 in the same day on my Yellow version, I was uber happy. I deleted my data that day though, but, meh.

Might post more If I can think of some...

I remember, on christmas in 1999 I got my first cameboy colour, and my first gameboy game, Pokemon red. I played that game 24/7, I had my prized possesion on that game, a level 100 hand trained Blastoise, known as Tiny-Thing. It got deleted tho ..... >.>

I remember in the year 2000, going to the millenium dome to download Mew, and the next year, Brent cross to download Celebi.

Pokemon brought me into many other animes, and introduced me to the world on nintendo. My knowledge of pokemon has got me known among my friends at school, and gets me respect.

Pokemon has also helped fix my eye condition, which stops me focusing on thnigs, but hours of playing the games has helped my eyes focus, and now I can see without going into double vision all the time!
Pokemon has also helped me make many, many friends. And back when the pokemon franchise was realy popular, I became popular for bringing it to my primary school.

Back I guess??
with pokémon I´m now a better drawer (in both, paper and computer), pokémon increased my strategy inteligence (I think), pokémon improved my english (that´s why my father keeps buying them >.<, that´s my last appeal after ask him) and without PKMN I´ll never met excelent friends like ludi-kero, blaziken77, psychic poitoed, exxthus, raikou rider and hero of legend that are hundred times better than the ones in my school.

Some of my favourite moments have to do with pokémon, because it reminds me of the time I was at primary school. I remember beating Erika for the first time in my aunt's classroom, and feeling absolutely elated. I also remember going to a shoddy event with pokémon TCG battles, Gameboy battles and merchandise and that was it. I got my TCG tin from there, and still have it to this day. I loved drawing the pokémon on scrap paper during class, and it actually gave me a chance to befriend some of the people I didn't know well before. Some great memories from that time thanks to pokémon, and I'm glad I came back to it.

Its almost time
I remember when I got my very first Pokemon Game: The red version.

I started with Charmander and named it Burny.I can't remember how the rest of my team went but I do remember teaching them moves that are useless for them (I.E. Rhyhorn with Fireblast, Nidoqueen with Rock Slide)

Some of my closest friends I met because of pokemon, one I met when i was trying to see if anyone at my summer camp liked pokemon. And another I met when I saw him playing....I think it was Silver version.
My first game was yellow version. Let's see if I can remember the party I had before the game froze up whenever I turned it on. :(
Pidgeot, Zapdos, Dugtrio, Snorlax, Arcanine, and....D**n, i can't remember the last one...

Pokemon opened me up to anime. Even though when I was little, I didn't know it was from Japan, but as I got older, I looked into the animation field of Pokemon and learned it was from Japan, and then became obsessed with Yu-Gi-Oh and from then on...I loved anime.

I also LOVED training my pokemon. Gave me a sense of independence to train them and to help them grow. ^^;

Ah, so long I have wished for those days to return. You could find me every week at the block playing pokemon until nintendo took control. Dang you nintendo. You backstabbed too! I did that all the time. XD

Well, I didn't like pokemon before (like when it first come out). When I got the Pokemon Blue, it was additcting... and when Gold/Silver came out, I got Pokemon Gold and Crystal when it went out. I also started to watch the anime (about 1999 until 2005) and it was great until the later season with alot of filler episodes...

Well, none of my friends like pokemon anymore, so I always kept it a secret to myself so noone know.... but it's still great, but the anime was boring so I stopped watching it, but nothing will make me dislike Pokemon in any way...

Hmm... I can't really say Pokemon has taught me anything, nor has it did any true good in my life, but I did gain a best friend back in 6th grade because I was into Pokemon. But that was it. :\

I can't say Pokemon got me into anime because DBZ got me into Ronin Warriors and Sailor Moon. And history tells itself after that; I got into more anime and developed my own, unique taste.

I love Pokemon, just as any other good game series, but I'm not obssessed with it. Who says you have to be obssessed with a huge franchise to like it? I will admit that there is better games than Pokemon (for the record, none of the Pokemon games are in my top 5 favorite list), but Pokemon is a damn good series of games, and they always will be. I can also admit that Pokemon is way too overrated for its own good. :p

Meh, that's it. :\

The epitome of grace
when pokemon came out, it really revolutionized my life. i made alot of friends because of it, and when i found serebii.net, i was going to the site every day looking at all of the stuff like game mechanics and stuff. it's become a big part of my life, but now my craze is starting to go down. for instance, i stopped collecting the TCG. i can't get the DS at the moment, so i'll probably miss out on Diamond and Pearl. Once i beat the battle frontier in emerald, finish purifying all shadows, get ho-oh in colosseum, and Orre Colosseum.....then what?

Ah, ten years...

I can't remember exactly what aspect I got into first, but they were all very close together.

I ordered my very first Gameboy (yes, a regular Gameboy, the big bulky black and white system that probably weighed a few pounds), along with Red and Blue, all used from Ebay. I think it cost around $70 at the time. I ended up lending my Blue version to a friend, so I never actually played it myself, but I started with Bulbasaur on Red, and have used and loved the Grass starters ever since.

Around the same time I got into the TCG, from a friend who had also gotten me into Magic: The Gathering (which I no longer play). Jungle had just come out, and I remember buying Pokemon magazines with translations of the Japanese Fossil cards, and being so excited at the prospect of the new set being released soon.

I also started watching the TV show--the very first scene I ever saw, flipping channels, was James releasing Koffing in the second episode, Pokemon Emergency!, and I was immediately hooked on Team Rocket (which is where my username came from; I used it when I was much younger for my very first AOL account and it's been my name ever since).

While I still play the games and am active in the TCG community (playing and judging in tournaments), I stopped watching the show somewhere during the Johto episodes. I just think it's getting too monotonous.

Well I only got introduced to Pokemon in November 1999 when I found out about the anime but what a time i've had though. I was so young and innocent back then and I was so obsessed with the show back then. I was none the wiser about it originating in Japan though lol. My first episode was Pokemon Emergency when watching GMTV breakfast show.

The show also got me involved in the Sailor Moon show. I used to love that. Had a lot of depth and story and got you emotionally involved. Sadly, it isn't shown anymore in the UK.

I was introduced to the games when I saw my friends with Game boys on the school playground. That was when it was popular. I loved watching everyone but it was hard as everybody was crowding around one Gameboy. My first game was Stadium 1 for N64 for my birthday and had Red and Blue the following Christmas. Since then I have had every RPG game (at least one of each gen.)

Sadly I am losing interest in Pokemon now and time travel does not exist for me to go back to those 'perfect' times. But I must say I have experienced a lot from been a Pokemon fan.

Well, Pokémon's been pretty important to me for the past several years. My interest earned me two of my past best friends. But unfortunately, I got teased a lot when I moved...and I still do. This is the part of being a teenager I hate...everyone deciding what's hot and what's not.:(

Of course, I still love one of my very first video games...my fondest memory would have to be owning the Elite and finally catching Mewtwo in Blue.:D ...Of course, I'd heard about the Rare Candy trick by then, but it was damn well worth it! Charizard, Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, Dragonite, and...Porygon?:p
