Extreme Makeover: Platinum Edition

#TeamInstinct
Hello again! I previously posted about my future team after the Elite Four, but now I'm having difficulties making an ultimate Elite Four Team. My whole team knows the HMs required for Victory Road, but I plan to get them off and teach them to HM slaves. I don't really care about EV and Natures, but I'll post them anyway. Alright, here it goes!

;026; Raichu@Shell Bell/Leftovers
Quirky; Static
Thunderbolt
HP-Grass
Strength
Volt Tackle

Finally, I have a Pokemon with Volt Tackle!! Thunderbolt is a given, and Strength is for Victory Road. I chose Hidden Power for his Ground weakness

;395; Empoleon@Mystic Water
Gentle; Torrent
Waterfall
Flash Cannon
Rock Climb
Surf

All of Empoleon's moves are for Victory Road (except Flash Cannon). I really want Brine in there somewhere, but I don't know where.

;445; Garchomp@Draco Plate
Careful; Sand Veil
Dig
Dragon Rush
Rock Smash
Dragon Claw

Just recently evolved, Dragon Rush and Dragon Claw will really pack a punch with STAB and Draco Plate. The other half, I'd like to change.

;389; Torterra@ Quick Claw
Brave; Overgrow
Synthesis
Leech Seed
Razor Leaf
Earthquake

Torterra is my tank, enough said. Synthesis and Leech Seed are picked for doing damage while gaining HP. I want Leaf Storm to replace RAzor Leaf, and Earthquake is for whoever can stand Grass attacks

;059; Arcanine@ Amulet Coin
Gentle; Flash Fire
Heat Wave
Dragon Pulse
Flare Blitz
Crunch

Heat Wave and Flare Blitz for STAB, and Dragon Pulse for his Special Attack. Crunch is kept in mind for Lucian. Amulet Coin so I can get more money

;414; Mothim@ SilverPowder
Quiet; Swarm
Air Slash
Psychic
Bug Bite
Bug Buzz

Mothim is my attempt of a Special Sweeper. I kept Bug Bite to get rid of the Sitrus Berries the Elite Four conveniently have. Bug Buzz, Psychic, and Air Slash are there because his Special Attack is off the charts.(Though his defenses aren't so amazing)

Well, There they are! Help me find the right moves. Thanks!!

I'll try to help you out as much as I can. My comments will be in BOLD.

;026; Raichu@Shell Bell/Leftovers
Quirky; Static
Thunderbolt
HP-Grass/Ice
Focus Blast
Volt Tackle

Finally, I have a Pokemon with Volt Tackle!! Thunderbolt is a given, and Strength is for Victory Road. I chose Hidden Power for his Ground weakness

I suggest HP Ice instead. HP Ice is still Super-Effective against Ground, and gives you wider Super-Effective coverage against more types than Grass. Electric and Ice give excellent SE coverage. Once you remove strength, give Raichu Focus Blast, as it helps against Rock Types.

;395; Empoleon@Mystic Water
Gentle; Torrent
Ice Beam
Flash Cannon
HP Electric/Drill Peck
Surf

All of Empoleon's moves are for Victory Road (except Flash Cannon). I really want Brine in there somewhere, but I don't know where.

Replace Waterfall and Rock Climb once you get through VR. Add Ice Beam and HP Electric if you can. If you can't get HP Electric, then Drill Peck is fine, although you'll get walled by Steel types.

;445; Garchomp@Draco Plate
Careful; Sand Veil
Dig/Earthquake
Fire Fang
Swords Dance
Dragon Claw

Just recently evolved, Dragon Rush and Dragon Claw will really pack a punch with STAB and Draco Plate. The other half, I'd like to change.

You don't need 3 STAB moves. Use Dragon Claw as it's more accurate than Dragon Rush. Teach Garchomp Earthquake (once you get the TM) over Dig. Dig is fine if you can't get Earthquake, though. I also suggest Swords Dance and Fire Fang. Swords Dance to raise your attack, and Fire Fang to hit any Ice or Steels you may encounter.

;389; Torterra@ Quick Claw
Brave; Overgrow
Synthesis
Leech Seed
Wood Hammer
Earthquake

Torterra is my tank, enough said. Synthesis and Leech Seed are picked for doing damage while gaining HP. I want Leaf Storm to replace RAzor Leaf, and Earthquake is for whoever can stand Grass attacks

The only thing I would suggest here is using the Pastoria City move tutor to teach it Wood Hammer over Razor Leaf. Wood Hammer will probably be more effective than Leaf Storm, and Synthesis can heal Wood Hammer's recoil.

;059; Arcanine@ Amulet Coin
Gentle; Flash Fire
Thunder Fang
Dragon Pulse
Flare Blitz
Crunch

Heat Wave and Flare Blitz for STAB, and Dragon Pulse for his Special Attack. Crunch is kept in mind for Lucian. Amulet Coin so I can get more money

As before, you don't need 2 STAB moves. One usually does the trick. Since Arcanine generally has more Atk than SpA, use the Move Maniac to teach it Thunder Fang over Heat Wave. Thunder Fang allows it to hit Water types.

;414; Mothim@ SilverPowder
Quiet; Swarm
Air Slash
Psychic
Bug Bite
Bug Buzz

Mothim is my attempt of a Special Sweeper. I kept Bug Bite to get rid of the Sitrus Berries the Elite Four conveniently have. Bug Buzz, Psychic, and Air Slash are there because his Special Attack is off the charts.(Though his defenses aren't so amazing)

Not too sure on this Pokemon, as I'm not a fan of Bug types. Maybe someone else could help you out more with this one.

Hope that was of some help.

Wow! Thanks for the help!! But, how do I make Raichu's Hidden Power become Ice type? I never did understand Hidden Power all that well....

Hakuna Matata!
imo leech seed is better than synthesis on torterra, it damages the opponent an heals torterra.

Since you're playing Platinum, you can talk to a guy in the Veilstone Game Corner, and he'll tell you the Hidden Power type of one of the Pokemon in your team.

I suggest just keep catching Pikachu until you catch one with HP Ice, and release the ones you don't need, then evolve the Pikachu you keep. That's probably gonna be the best way.

I read up about Hidden Power and the and the equation associated with, and I gathered that if I raise Raichu's Special Defense, it will change type. Is that true?

Eon Master

Born from the Flames
^No. Unfortunately, if you want to change a Pokemon's Hidden Power type or its level of power, you have to catch a completely new Pokemon. Hidden Power is based on IV's, and those don't change for a given Pokemon, ever.

That said, I suggest changing Strength to Signal Beam. It'll help you against Grass-types that currently wall Raichu to hell.

On Empoleon, a Physical set with Swords Dance is also viable, running Waterfall or Aqua Jet / Earthquake / Drill Peck / Swords Dance, or something similar. If he stays special, I'd replace HP Electric on Jab's set with Grass Knot. Empoleon has access to it and it is often more beneficial than HP Electric, not to mention stronger against most Pokemon of note.

Aw hell, it'd probably just be easier for me to rate the whole team. I'll do the rest in the same format as everyone else... and since you don't care about Natures, I'll reluctantly leave them alone.

Alright, here it goes!

;026; Raichu@ Wise Glasses / Life Orb
Quirky; Static
Thunderbolt
HP-Grass
Signal Beam
Volt Tackle / Focus Blast

Finally, I have a Pokemon with Volt Tackle!! Thunderbolt is a given, and Strength is for Victory Road. I chose Hidden Power for his Ground weakness

As stated earlier. Focus Blast is viable over Volt Tackle, but its accuracy is terrible, so I understand completely if you want to keep Volt Tackle. Wise Glasses as the item increases the power of his Special Attacks, and if you run Focus Blast, that's all of them. Raichu doesn't have the bulk to make use of Leftovers, and Shell Bell is just bleah. Life Orb could be used if you stick with Volt Tackle, but the recoil it gives isn't good for something as frail as Raichu.

;395; Empoleon@ Muscle Band
Gentle; Torrent
Waterfall / Aqua Jet
Earthquake
Drill Peck
Swords Dance

All of Empoleon's moves are for Victory Road (except Flash Cannon). I really want Brine in there somewhere, but I don't know where.

Not exactly a great idea to use Brine, two Surfs are generally more powerful. Empoleon's nature is bad for any set, since it lowers one of his defenses (I forget which). However, that means that Physical Empoleon is generally better. Waterfall for STAB, although Aqua Jet gives you priority so you can hit things that are faster. Earthquake hits Electric-types, while Drill Peck hits Fighting-types. With your STAB of choice hitting Ground-types, that's all of Empoleon's weaknesses taken care of. Swords Dance gives Empoleon the power boost he needs to go pure physical. Muscle Band as the item to increase the power of his physical attacks, since his lower bulk from the Gentle nature makes Leftovers undesirable and Life Orb ridiculous.

;445; Garchomp@ Choice Scarf / Choice Band / Leftovers
Careful; Sand Veil
Earthquake
Stone Edge / Fire Fang
Outrage / Swords Dance
Dragon Claw

Just recently evolved, Dragon Rush and Dragon Claw will really pack a punch with STAB and Draco Plate. The other half, I'd like to change.

Dragon Rush is inaccurate, and not generally a good choice. Standard ChoiceChomp here. Earthquake is the strongest Ground-type attack Garchomp can learn, and is primary STAB if you're using a Swords Dance set. Stone Edge or Fire Fang are for coverage against either Flying-types or levitating Steels. Outrage is Garchomp's strongest STAB move, able to KO almost anything in two hits or less if it doesn't resist it. Dragon Claw gives you a backup STAB if you don't feel like being locked into Outrage. Also, since Garchomp's nature increases his SpD, a Swords Dance set with Leftovers could also work.

;389; Torterra@ Leftovers
Brave; Overgrow
Synthesis
Stone Edge
Wood Hammer / Seed Bomb
Earthquake

Torterra is my tank, enough said. Synthesis and Leech Seed are picked for doing damage while gaining HP. I want Leaf Storm to replace RAzor Leaf, and Earthquake is for whoever can stand Grass attacks.

Pretty standard Synthesis sweeper here. Torterra is a good tank with this set. Wood Hammer is his strongest Grass-type move, while Seed Bomb is second-best but lacks the damaging recoil. Your pick. Stone Edge hits Flying- and Ice-type Pokemon, two of Torterra's worst enemies. Leftovers helps him keep more bulk even though he drops Leech Seed.

;059; Arcanine@ Amulet Coin
Gentle; Flash Fire
Extremespeed / Iron Head
Dragon Pulse / Thunder Fang
Flare Blitz
Crunch

Heat Wave and Flare Blitz for STAB, and Dragon Pulse for his Special Attack. Crunch is kept in mind for Lucian. Amulet Coin so I can get more money

I'll leave it so you can have your money, but you'll want to stick to Physical moves, since Arcanine's Attack stat is higher. Extremespeed is priority, Iron Head hits Rock-types, and Thunder Fang hits Water-types. Your pick, although you can leave Dragon Pulse if you so desire because Arcanine's movepool is pathetic.

;414; Mothim@ Choice Specs / Wise Glasses / Life Orb
Quiet; Swarm
Air Slash
Psychic
U-Turn

U-Turn over Bug Bite. U-Turn can help him get away from troublesome switch-ins, and it can turn the tide of a battle in your favor when timed properly. As for the item, Choice Specs is the ideal choice, since U-Turn allows you to scout as well. Wise Glasses or Life Orb could work as well if you don't like being locked into a move. Quiet isn't exactly the best nature, but meh, I said I'd leave them alone.

Well, There they are! Help me find the right moves. Thanks!!

Done. Be grateful I did this, I'm mostly retired from rating now. Changes / comments in bold.

Wasn't too bad, tbh. Just needed some pointers in the right direction.
