Factors based on your ID number?

In RS values decided by your ID number choose which character sprite you'd have in Secret Base battles. In FRLG your union room character was decided by the same values.

Is DP going to have the same system? I had heard somewhere that we can pick these I believe, but I want confirmation. Are there any values set at the begining of the game other than this?
