Laverre Gym Match! The Beautiful Fairy Trap!!

It's time for Ash's 6th gym battle in the Kalos region. Ash is excited to battle for the badge but Valerie has got a tricky fighting style using her Fairy-type Pokémon. As Ash hasn't come in with a particular strategy to defeat this new type of Pokémon, the battle will be fierce indeed. Facing off with his Fletchinder against Sylveon and Spritzee, Ash faces his toughest challenge so far in Kalos. Will Ash manage to win?

The episode is about to start, let's hope for a great one, and let's see if Ash gets his 6th Gym badge of the Kalos Region

Episode has started.

The battle between Satoshi and Mache has begun.

Firstly Hinoyakoma has a close win to Nymph.

Shushupu is Mache second Pokémon. It used Gyro Ball and Trick Room as new moves.

Luchabull has knocked out Shushupu thus Satoshi won the battle.

Comments: battle with only two Pokémon seemed quick in my opinion. Mache could have used her Kuchiito in the battle too making things more interesting to me. This battle is one of few easiest gym battles I guess. Overall this episode could have been better for more Pokémon involved in the gym battle.

The episode starts with a recap of what happened in the previous episode.

Ash and co. (including Scottie) are standing in front of the Laverre City Gym.

They all enter the Gym and are greeted by four different Furisode girls'.

The Furisode girls' are standing in front of the entrance to the room where the Gym is.

They all step to the side and then Ash and co. walk into the Gym room.

Ash goes to his part of the battlefield.

The others go to the sidelines, on the right side of Ash.

Scottie's Treecko comes out of its Poke Ball.

Ash looks around the inside of the Gym and he is impressed.

Valerie sends out her Sylveon.

Ash then sends out his Fletchinder.

The Gym battle between Ash and Valerie starts.

Fletchinder flies towards Sylveon with an attack.

Sylveon dodges the attack.

Sylveon then uses Disarming Voice.

Ash commands Fletchinder to dodge the attack.

Sylveon grabs Fletchinder with its ribbons that come from its body.

It then uses Fairy Wind to attack Fletchinder.

The Fairy Wind is swirling around Fletchinder like a tornado, hurting Fletchinder.

Fletchinder uses Flame Charge on Sylveon while it is tied up with Sylveon's ribbons.

Sylveon runs into Fletchinder with Giga Impact and Fletchinder counters with another attack.

The two attacks collide and they both seem to be fine after the collision.

Sylveon then falls to the ground.

Sylveon has been defeated.

Valerie returns her Sylveon to its Poke Ball.

Valerie then sends out her next Pokemon, her Spritzee.

Spritzee uses Trick Room on the battlefield.

Pokemon Quiz: Spritzee.

Ash commands Fletchinder to attack Spritzee with Flame Charge.

Clemont says that that was a bad idea, because Trick Room slows down fast moves.

He also says that it is bad because Flame Charge is a fast move.

Fletchinder flies towards Spritzee slowly with Flame Charge.

Ash commands Fletchinder to use Flame Charge again.

Spritzee attacks Fletchinder with Dazzling Gleam.

Spritzee then attacks Fletchinder with Moonblast.

Fletchinder falls to the ground after being attacked by Moonblast.

Fletchinder is defeated.

Ash recalls his Fletchinder back to its Poke Ball.

Ash brings out his Hawlucha to battle Spritzee.

Spritzee starts its battle against Hawlucha by using Trick Room again.

Hawlucha goes to attack Spritzee with Karate Chop.

Hawlucha then attacks Spritzee with a new move, X-Scissor.

Spritzee uses Gyro Ball to attack Hawlucha.

Ash commands Hawlucha to use X-Scissor on Spritzee again.

Hawlucha attacks Spritzee with Flying Press.

The Trick Room surrounding the battlefield shatters and disappears.

Spritzee goes to attack Hawlucha with some move.

Hawlucha runs along the battlefield towards Spritzee and then jumps into the air.

Hawlucha uses Hi-Jump Kick on Spritzee, sending it crashing towards the ground.

Spritzee is defeated.

Ash has defeated Valerie.

Ash celebrates with victory with Pikachu, Fletchinder and Hawlucha.

One of the Furisode girl's brings Valerie the Fairy Badge in a case.

Valerie then presents to Ash the Fairy Badge.

Ash takes the badge and then poses with his Pokemon that are out with him.

Ash and the rest of his friends are all happy.

Inside the Gym are the four Furisode Girls who greet Ash and let him and his friends travel up some stairs to the Battle Field
Ash seems amazed and surprised (not sure why, he battled here before against Shota/Scottie)
The Gym turns dark, and there is a grand entance by Valerie with some sparkling lights
Valerie and Ash greet each other and Valerie says some words of advice
She sends out her first Pokemon, Sylveon
Ash is surprised at what he sees while his friends look on
Ash sends out Fletchinder and the battle theme starts
Battle begins:
Fletchinder uses Steel Wing and damages Sylveon
While Fletchinder is flying, Sylveon uses its ribbons to catch Fletchinder and spins it around agresssively starting a huricane, the move might be Fairy Wind.
Fletchinder then uses Flame Charge to burn the ribbons and attack Sylveon, and it escapes
Fletchinder then uses Steel Wing while Sylveon moves towards it using a fast attack (dunno what it is, maybe Quick Attack)
The two Pokemon collide and both are heavily damaged
Sylveon faints and Fletchinder has won the battle
Valerie sends out her second Pokemon, Spritzee
Fletchinder uses Steel Wing but Spritzee dodges and uses Trick Room

Commercial Break

Sylveon is out. Fletchinder wins.

Now it's Spritzee.

Fletchinder is out.

WOOO HAWLUCHA!!

Hawlucha has learned X-Scissor.

Hawlucha starred like a boss. I'm so happy :')

Ash's friends are surprised by what they see and Clemont says some words stating what Trick Roomdoes
Fletchinder uses Flame Charge and moves extremely slow
Scottie takes some notes
Spritzee easily dodges all the Flame Charges, and uses Dazzling Gleam to seriously damage Fletchinder
Ash continues to use Flame Charge while Spritzee dodges and uses Gyro Ball to make itself into a ball and attack Fletchinder
Trick Room wears off
Ash seems happy tactically knowing Fletch is now super fast, Fletch uses Steel Wing which really damages Spritzee
Spritzee is able to survive and uses Moonblast which makes Fletchinder faint
Ash sends out his second Pokemon, Hawlucha
Hawlucha tries to attack Spritzee with Karate Chop, but misses and Spritzee uses Trick Room
Hawlucha then tries to attack Spitzee using his arms in a cross (not sure if its double Karate Chop or X-Scissor, it hits Spritzee
Spritzee then uses Gyro Ball and moves towards Spritzee
Hawlucha somehow catches Spritzee and uses the Gyro Ball's energy to spin towards it while attacking it, Hawlucha hurts Spritzee and hits it up against the Trick Room wall which breaks Trick Room
Valerie seems really surprised
Spritzee then uses Moonblast towards Hawlucha. who runs through it and then uses High Jump Kick which finishes Spritzee off
Ash has WON the battle
Valeria congratuales Ash and gives him the Fairy Badge
Scottie is awed and amazed by Ash and asks how he managed to do that, and how awesome it was
Ash seems creeped out and the others laugh
The episode ends

 

[Lucario At Service]

So, Ash utilized 2 strategies to fight Trick Room.

He continued using Flame Charge when Trick Room was in effect, in hopes that when it expires, Fletchinder would get a sudden boost in its Speed.

His next was destroying the active Psychic type move Trick Room, with a Bug type X-Scissor.

There goes those "Pastoria-like" battle theories. Hehehe.

I don't know whether to be gutted that it really was just a 2v2, or happy that Hawlucha actually just starred in a gym battle..

So, in terms of fighting in gyms:
- Fletchinder is now 4W-6L. Surskit, Machoke, Jumpluff, Sylveon. Lost to Vivillon 2x, Tyrunt, M-Luc, Weepinbell, Spritzee.
- Hawlucha is 3W-3L. Mienfoo, Heliolisk, Spritzee. Lost to M-Luc, Weepinbell, Luxray.

Laughing that Hawlucha won with X-scissor though. It's like Ash's Kalos Team is a tribute to Gliscor or something.

Holy ****.

Ash just stalled a Trick Room and later destroys it. What an amazing episode, and once again denialists BTFO. The beginning was tense and ominous as if you feel something bad was going to happen this episode, the Furisode's fangirlism doesn't help either. Then comes the battle, Ash counters Valerie's Trick Room, and everybody is unbelieving that Ash continues attacking with Flame Charge. Here it is as if Ash knows that Valerie is just allowing Spritzee to dodge and not attack at all. Then came Hawlucha. Jesus, literally everyone but Ash didn't know what the **** was going on.

There is no stopping the Ashtrain, and Shota's admiration is not misplaced. For me I think Ash continually using the same move over again is to prove that his tactics, that Shota copied the episode prior, do work, even if it doesn't connect. A little bit of revenge for Spritzee defeating Bagon the previous episode. I would think this is a better episode than the Grant one, below the Ramos gym battle due to the sheer balls Ash had to pull to stall in a Trick Room.

If we go into technicality, then he didn't learn the move (i.e., X-Scissor) in this episode.
He already knew the move before the battle (well, i could be a bit wrong here, as i did miss some parts of its battle).
