Falling in love? Shipping? Where is the cause.

I've been thinking about this for awhile, and am a pearlshipping follower (not so much fan yet ), but came to think...

The man who wanted to marry the anime girl, and people who fall in love with anime characters were in love with some random factor, perhaps the looks? or most likely the personality?

I kept thinking, what a perfect world it is to travel around with someone like them, all having the almost complete personality, and always having the chance to be *heroes/heroines* to the the rescue for the *perfect* person and being surrounded by everything desirable? Is this why? is this why pearl/advance/ect shipping exist? is this why people fall in love with anime characters? Because the personality, person, and time spent with that character is virtually unobtainable with any living human in the real world?

Sorry this is late and couldnt find any other forum topics to place this under, and reading all the comments from various sources got me thinking, what are your thoughts? (yes ive thought to myself many times about what i would do if i ever met even half the personalities from pokemon)
