Has anyone bought a copy of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald off of eBay? I initially bought one from there because the UK were charging exorbitantly for it, though I learned the hard way that paying full price is the best way.

Whenever I got to a certain point in the game, or didn't play for a few days, it would wipe the file. It felt as though I was being punished for letting the game rest for a moment. This became increasingly frustrating as I was losing files with hundreds of hours worth of game play regularly. I finally got a 'non-fake', 'non-problematic' version last week and caught Groudon and Kyogre two nights ago, for the first time since owning a copy of 'Emerald' (around february), and my Poke-love has returned.

So here I am, excited for Diamond, loving Emerald's fight scene [Rayquaza/Kyogre/Groudon] and the way that it all appears to be unfolding. Figured I'd say my hellos and ask if anyone else ever had that problem.

Also, can someone just send me a finished copy of Ruby with Deoxys, Latias, Mew, Mewtwo, the mythical birds and a large hawaiian pizza?

On a separate note, if you've heard of Apathy (rapper)'s song "**** you", I wrote a Pokemon version which went:

go get em pi-chu / thundershock them from me to you //
think you trainers are hot / stop, its not true //
but even if your highest fighter's level 92 /
i got bigger and better pokemon like mew-two //
raikou, suiken, / entei, who'd win //
when zapdos thunderbolts your movement //
and rock type, i'll use articu' / lapras, houou, lugia too //
all the elements are covered quickly /
psychic, rock, ground, water - hit me //
ice, fire, grass, dark, ghost or steel /
poison or fighter, dragon appeal //
uppercut punch, swagger, duck, punch /
find arcinine find fireblast stumps //
and even if your plant can synthesise /
i got knives to scythe ya type down to size //

I bought my Sapphire off ebay and it's fine. I looked at the picture and everything so I knew it wasn't fake (it came with its box and all the paperwork, and I could tell it was real just by looking at the symbols on the box). But you are right, there are alot of fakes on ebay, I've reported loads but nothing is done. I would buy Ruby/Sapphire off ebay, but I wouldn't buy Emerald off there, there are way too many Emerald fakes, and they are a few quid cheaper than buying Emerald new from a shop.

Made me want to dropkick the person in the face. Its so obviously fake now that I spend more time looking at it, but at the time I was too interested in just plug in and play, y'know.

Yeah, I bought a fake Sapphire off ebay without knowing.
Though I figured out later that it was fake because the cardridge wasn't blue (is it meant to be? I think so.), and it didn't say Nintendo anywhere on it.
The same happened with my FireRed, too.

I go on ebay and report fake ones to nintindo :)

Yes, the official Sapphire cartridge is blue. So far, the only GB games I've seen for Pokemon without a coloured cartridge are Trading Card Game and Pinball. So that's one way to know if your game is fake - if the cartridge isn't coloured, it's guaranteed to be fake.

I do a similar thing with Linkin Park media, so I might start doing that if I find fake Pokemon stuff.

Other carts that aren't color (for my knowlegde) Are Japanese Red, Green and Blue.

I saw a fake Ruby at a GameStop before.

I was at my friends when he was getting something or other off Ebay, and I spotted what loked like a few fake carts, thats why I never purchase anything from Ebay.

Yeah Im a bit wary after i got a fake emerald, but i returned it and got a real one. My brothers leafgreen is fake but works fine (300 hours and no deletion).

I managed to get Emerald in store for 15£. Any idea why it would be so cheap? Do you think they mispriced it?

I also want to get Green/Red again - suggestions?

^ I'd say they mispriced it, usually they are £25/£30 second hand. Where did you get it from? A proper game store? Also if they do not have the box or anything the carts alone will be £10/£15 (I'm judging the prices from my local Gamestation), but you should be able to tell if it's fake by the cart quality. Also if yours is a European version (I would go for a proper EU version as most fakes are based on American carts) it should have a CE sign on it somewhere. Take a picture of it.

Do you mean you want Japanese Green/Red (cannot get English versions)? Try and order from Japan, the carts will be grey, and if you are still not sure ask for some screenshots. The pokemon on authentic green/red are different looking to english red/blue.

If it was used, then it was priced right. Gamestop, has cheaper games because they are usually pre-used. I got curious and looked on Ebay. They had a game for $2.40 and it was fake.

eBay is great. I just rarely buy games off of them. There's feedback for a reason, and what you need to do is check it before you bid. If they have bad feedback or are new don't trust them. Yes there are some scammers, it's sad that people have to do that just to earn a buck. It's called college. Well I am glad this has never happend to me as I would never buy pokemon games off eBay. I also hate buying used games from Gamestop. You get ripped off their too. Especially when you trade in used games. You barely get half of what they turn around and sell it for. That's the world I guess.
