this is the same thing as South Park or the Simpsons. He is in to deep to let go now, and so he HAS to continue for FOX and the Fans.

1: The episode basically goes under the assumption that all Germans are Nazis. The guy from the puppet shop just happened to be from Germany, and when Chris befriended him, the Pedophile man (Forgot his name) looking through the window immediately said that the guy was a Nazi. So everyone from Germany is a nazi, is it?
2: Later in the episode, the pedophile is looking through his closet for his army uniform, and one of the outfits in the closet was a bunny suit, AKA a fursuit. So the episode also goes under the assumption that all Furries have a sick fetish or want to hump people in fursuits or anything like that. Now, the guy may have playing the role of the hero in the episode, but a pedophile's a pedophile. So yeah, being a furry that came off as offensive.

You've watched this show before right? It's a comedy show that no one should take seriously ever. Ever. You should read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-color_humor

So much cynicism around here. Old Family Guy episodes are sill great, and occasionally there's a decent new one. Last season of American Dad! was excellent. South Park is having it's best season in a while.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts, with the minor exception of South Park having a good run of Seasons for the past few years. Family Guy was great from the 4th Season up to about the 7th, but since then it's been a downhill slope. American Dad however has had a great past 2 Seasons, and continues to do well this Season.

I'd have no qualms with Family Guy ending its run, unless it goes back to the same classic episodes like those in 4-7.

I never really liked the show TBH so yeah I think it should end pretty soon but I can see why so many of my friends like the series.

That doesn't mean that they shouldn't try to be funny. Making a dead baby joke is usually tasteless, but if it's pulled off correctly it can be worth a lollercoaster.
Ever hear of suspension of disbelief? You used it right there to justify Family Guy's bullsh!ttery, but now they've just gone too far with the anti-lolz. The Simpsons is no saint either, but South Park is actually pretty funny if you get past the fact that the later series looks rather ugly. The cardboardy feel had a lovely charm to it, no?

Wanting his TV show to end doesn't mean he doesn't love it - in fact, I think from a creative standpoint, it's the opposite. He has respect for this show and has clearly wanted it to end before it got the reputation that so many people here and all over the world have already given it - that it sucks.

If the show had ended in season 7, I doubt that people would be saying that same things about Family Guy that they are now. It was right around season 7 that the quality started to go down (with some exceptions, they have still put out some really good episodes).

But we all know how a major TV network is, and FOX isn't just going to let Family Guy go.

I love Family Guy, but I can't say I would blame him for ending it. Like he said, being on the air for this many seasons is a rare honor. Most shows on TV don't make it past 2, and some can make it to 5. But if you count the number of shows that lasted 8, 10, ****, 20 seasons, you'll only have a handful of shows, so to have your show in that category is a real accomplishment, especially considering this is a show that was cancelled twice and revived twice.

So, unless Family Guy can pull a "Simpsons" (they did do everything first!) and improve the quality of the show, I wouldn't vilify MacFarlane for putting this on the shelf.

Family Guy is an unfunny show. Get rid of it so we can free up time on the network for something actually good.

Yeah, because Fox is known for airing good shows. You would get that joke if you watched Family Guy

If they are to cancel FG, they might as well cancel Cleveland show and American Dad.

American Dad isn't that bad actually. It has a much higher writing quality than the Cleveland Show, and right now, a higher quality than Family Guy.

I have to wonder how much of the "unfuniness" is from Fox leadership, as opposed to SMcF himself.

If you can, listen to the commentary on the Futurama episode "I Roomate." They talk about how the FOX censors forced the writers to use their ideas and then turned around and called it the worst episode ever.

FOX Executives are supposed to make sure the shows last for a while, but they need to stay out of the creative process. The result is never good.

If The Simpson's can last 21 seasons, Family Guy can too.

Sorry, but the Simpsons shouldn't have lasted 21 seasons, at least not with the crappy quality of most of those later seasons. They've turned it around, but I can't recall any spectacular episodes between season 10 and 21.

I used to like Family Guy. Then I turned sixteen. It is misogynistic rubbish.

Yes, because 16 is the magic age to formulate concrete opinions about things.

I also don't see how Family Guy is misogynistic - you realize Lois is probably the strongest character whereas Peter and Chris and Quagmire are pretty discpicable?

It's bland and offensive, it should have never been created in the first place.

So I can safely assume you also hate South Park whose pilot episode was about an anal probe?

Lots of thigns are offensive. People think Glee and Modern Family are offensive. It's all about personal taste.

Took the words out of my mouth.

To add to that, my parents wonder how in the world they got Family Guy approved for television. We preferred The Simpsons over it, and even then Mom has always despised The Simpsons and eventually banned it from the house after so many years of tolerating it (which was fine with me, I got bored with the show when they stopped showing new episodes for a while).

Besides, even if they take off Family Guy, there's going to be another show to replace it that'll be even worse, it never fails.

The Simpsons is actually a fairly tame show, especially when you compare it to Family Guy or South Park.

That's a great thing. To be honest, I find the quality of all episodes to be around the same. On top of that, I find the quality of all of Seth McFarlane's show to be around the same. They're all poor! How do people like this sh*t to begin with?

The quality of all episodes really isn't the same. The earlier seasons of Family Guy were good and actually had good jokes. But it has gotten worse as of late. But to say that all the episode are the same quality neglects the fact that the show has restaffed about 3 times. It's also the same thing for all of his shows, which have completely different staffs of writers and whatnot.

I think this show along with american dad and south park cleveland show ect. Should all end already I mean when we were younger We'd think these shows were funny nowadays there not LOL anymore its because we now realize the stupidity of these shows but I do agree family guy has reached its climax.

It has nothing to do with us or our age. It can be our personal taste in entertainment. But the most realistic culprit is the quality of the writing. I still find early episodes of Family Guy to be funny, but some of the newer ones just don't even offer anything to be remembered.

It should've ended on the day the made it.

Why?

That doesn't mean that they shouldn't try to be funny. Making a dead baby joke is usually tasteless, but if it's pulled off correctly it can be worth a lollercoaster.

Lol. You realize South Park just put out shows where Kyle was sown to a Japanese guy's *** and one where Stan literally saw everything as ****?

What does this have to do with anything I said?

No? I used the fact that they using off-color humor to try and be funny and that no one should take it seriously if they start using ethnic jokes and similar things to that.

I'm confused with what you're tying to get across here. Want to make things clearer?

To me, offensive is offensive regardless of whether it's supposed to be taken seriously. Basically, I don't like offensive humor regardless of who they're trying to offend. If you offend a Japanese person by saying they have a small ***** or something like that, well I'm not Asian, but it's still offensive to someone, so it also offends me in a way. Sue me, I guess it's not my kind of humor, but I personally don't see anything funny about offensive humor, really.

Yes, because 16 is the magic age to formulate concrete opinions about things.

It's the age you come relatively close to maturity and begin to see that Family Guy is ****ing awful and misogynist.

I also don't see how Family Guy is misogynistic - you realize Lois is probably the strongest character whereas Peter and Chris and Quagmire are pretty discpicable?

Ah yes, the predictable "Peter is a dick" get-out clause. Sadly it's irrelevant. Petere Griffin is a complete *******, yet the show is set up so "we" get many laughs from his actions, rarely the consequences of his actions. He's just a complete dick, and gets away with it with relative impunity. It's why the Simpsons got so rubbish when they made Homer an ******* rather than a man with the capability to be an *******. It's a subtle but huge difference.

As for Quagmire, it's the same gig. He's shown to be a sexual criminal, but this rarely has dire consequences for him. The audience is encouraged to laugh at a serial pervert molesting and harassing women. Again and again. Oh look he has a rape machine. L.o.l.

Lois is by no means a strong character. Her personality oscillates depending on the situation, be it prude or nympho. She doesn't divorce Peter despite the fact he's a complete prick and always seems to spoil his fun. Next you'll be telling me that the way they treat Meg is all "part of the fun".

On top of this, it should be pointed out that Seth McFarlane is a coward.

So basically, you can make fun of easy targets, but steer clear of making substantial points on the importance and nature of satire. *******. He is an inspiration to any aspiring champagne socialist.

Wow, since when did the Entertainment Board become the Debate Board?

It's the age you come relatively close to maturity and begin to see that Family Guy is ****ing awful and misogynist.
While I can see how Family Guy is misogynist, that's also going under the assumption that you're taking what's going on with Family Guy very seriously. It's not supposed to be taken seriously though; it's just jokes. Walk into any bar/cafeteria/anywhere and you'll hear someone say an off color joke which no matter how much you hate it WILL get laughs. I do it all the time with my friends. Hell I made a killer Steve Irwin joke just the other day in my Robotics class, and while it is totally insensitive, it doesn't change the fact that it was in fact pretty funny. And that's what people like these days; insensitive jokes. Which is what many of the adult cartoons today deliver.

Pretty much if you're calling Family Guy jokes out for being what they're poking fun of, you're taking the joke too seriously.

On top of this, it should be pointed out that Seth McFarlane is a coward.

That was definitely a weird time. I was all on board though with Trey and Matt's views, and the death threats, and Comedy Central's reactions to them, were a disappointment. Seth did make a valid point about whether you "think it's worth the risk" (given that indeed an attempted bomb threat did happen), which I don't think he has material worth risking (granted you had Palestinean Alarm Clocks, mentally challenged bombers, all poking fun of the extremist movements). Not to mention Fox would immediately censor it the first chance they got to avoid the Comedy Central issue.

Don't like it? Don't watch it :D There's nothing that says you have to watch something you think offensive. Some of us still have a sense of humor though.

Lots of stuff I mostly agree with
It's pretty clear that SMcF would have liked FG to die early while still strong instead of slowly fading into a wimper. Like they say, "only the good die young." Die remembered, not forgotten.

I will say though that there are some major differences between the characters 10 years ago and now. Lois, formerly the voice of reason, is now almost as irresponsible as Peter. Recently she cheated on Peter with Meg's boyfriend, she was in a porno, etc. Also Stewie was way funnier when he was trying to kill Lois than now when he's questioning his sexuality.

Usually, offensive humor is more *Rolls Eyes* angering than *WHAT THE ****! GO TO HADES!!!* angering. I don't think I've seen anything that truly makes me want to smash a DVD I might be watching. ...Except maybe CSI, which isn't even humorous but it's one of the major reasons people assume Furry is a sexual fetish. And even then, it wouldn't be enough to cause me to start a war or anything like that.

Offensive humor might not be funny, but it's usually not infuriating either. I usually just shrug it off and watch the rest of the show. Not liking offensive humor doesn't mean I can't laugh and be merry like everyone else.

And lastly, my biggest point was the "Running out of jokes," one.
